A beautiful park with a lot of trails, a waterfall, a few playgrounds, campgrounds, and overall nature. Lots of trees and shade available. A lot of parking available. The park rangers are very friendly. A quiet park to enjoy on a day off.

Beautiful country park located in the back end of Lakeside. It's located on Olde Hwy 80 and has a challenging trail that goes up to crest. There is a beautiful gazebo for event or even weddings. The restrooms are clean and there is plenty of parking. This park does close and a gate is locked to keep people in or out. There is a care taker that lives onsite

What a gem of a park! So beautiful in the mornings for a walk around this area, the sun over the mountains creates this cool light effect. This park is kept very clean and is very wheelchair friendly, from the parking lot there is a little red bridge that leads into the park trough the paved walkways which is a nice if you don't want to get your shoes dirty walking on the ground and the best thing is the beautiful gazebo for weddings! There are 3 of bathrooms sets and 2 pavilions for parties or meetings. Movie night is awesome at this park! * Lots of tree shade * Plenty of parking * Paved walk ways for wheelchairs and strollers * kids Playground but not shaded * clean bathrooms * 2 pavilions * Picnic tables and grill * Potable running water * A beautiful Wedding gazebo * Easy to find and park * a stream runs trough it * $3 per car Restaurant next door

This is a great park. Tons of picnic tables and lots of shade. Great playground for ages 5-12. There's also a park for toddlers if you keep driving to the back of the parking lot. It's gated, but the door is open. Really clean and staff were all friendly. Lots of bathrooms throughout. Day pass costs $3, but we just did the annual pass $25. Only 1 thing could make this place better is a little basketball court for older kiddos!

$430 reserved enough picnic tables to seat 500 people but it ended up being a rainy day so we had mostly everything under the gazebo.

First let me point out that the one easily missed sign for the park clearly states Bill Beck Play Ground. This could have affected my decision to visit when I did. On a positive note I was able to check off one more park I've visited. It was actually a nice park to visit. My biggest challenge as a 70 year old man was the fact that there were no public restrooms available. This inconvenience cut my visit short and I ended up going to the Library to relax and use the restroom before the car show. On the day I visited the place was practically empty. One man enjoying the exercise equipment and a coule of kids on the play structure. I'm going to guess the kids were with the man. In addition to the play structure and exercise equipment was a nice field where all sorts of games can be played. There were several picnic tables available with a reasonable amount of mature Shade trees. The addition of a public restroom would have greatly boosted my star rating, even a porta potty with a hand washing station would have been acceptable. I've talked to El Cajon locals nearly my age that lived in the neighborhood as kids who had fond memories of Bill Beck Play Ground. They had the luxury of running across the street to use the restroom at home. I did have a nice picnic and took a few pictures to share. Thanks for reading . Enjoy the photos. ¹

I was in the area of this park recently, and passed a parking area while driving on Bancroft. I was in need of a restroom so I turned at the first road after and that led to another, smaller parking area. I parked there, found the restroom I needed, then walked around a little bit. The park is on a slope. There is a covered area for family or company picnics@ some sort of a ball court. I walked down the slope to the other parking area. A dog would find plenty to sniff around at, but I didn't see much so I headed back to my truck. The parking area started filling. Some cars and vans with their clients, on outings. Some guy parked next to me was talking to himself and dumped what looked like grocery store dumpster finds out behind his vehicle, I guess to go through them. And commenting on stuff in my direction. Ok, time to go. 10 am by then so I made a mental note to come early again next time.

You would have to take quite a turn after seeing the sign on Bancroft if you are driving from the Valley Farm Market. Parking spots looked quite limited as there was only one way in and then one way out. The table we got was perfect for us to enjoy our BBQ ribs, chicken, and salads under the eucalpytus trees. But would say some of the other seating areas were pretty much in the sun, so wish there was a bit more shade to those closer to the parking lot. The area looked very family friendly, lots of shade, and the grassy areas looked perfect for dogs to run around. I read in another review that dogs aren't allowed there but don't think I saw the sign during our visit there, so might have missed it. The dogs that were there that day were quite friendly and no one seemed to mind. There were two pavilion areas towards the left of the park which were well shaded where parties can be hosted. Bathrooms are nearby the higher elevated one. Overall looked like a decent park.
