I took my dog there after being totally dissatisfied with my then vet. Ex-vet was not particularly attentive to the animals, missed an irritation during a normal visit and then told me to make an appointment for the next week. That day, I discovered Flint Animal Hospital and I haven't look back since. Everyone at the hospital was attentive, asked appropriate questions, followed up after visits, and to make a long story shorter, my dog was 14 yrs. old and time was not on his side. Through the whole ordeal, the staff was considerate and very caring. I could not have asked for better. I am forever grateful that they took such good care of him - and us! Flint Animal Hospital is truly our saving grace. We have brought several fosters to this location, Including our most recent foster, Scooter, who was sadly hit by a car. They were able to determine that he has 2 broken femurs, and not only helped us find a surgeon to do it at a reasonable price, but also reached out to local charities for donations. I am in awe of the experience we've had with them. You can tell the entire staff genuinely cares about your animals, and wants what is best for them. I took my 3 1/2 years old companion frenchie, Bug. At the end of February for some stomach issues. I took him there because I had used them before for yearly shots, and too spay and neuter a couple stray kitties. So I go there thinking it's some sort of tummy bug, since it would come and go. So they take him from me, a the vet comes out and tells me that his kidneys were shutting down, so he needed to be euthanized!!! I immediately became frantic and called family members, and asked for my puppy back. Bug was my life, I'm 56 and disabled. Then a woman comes in and shows me the bill!!! And it was for $1000!!! I couldn't think or see straight. It was ridiculous. Needless to say, they showed absolutely no compassion and then 4 days late I was rushed to the hospital with triple pneumonia, and severe sepsis. Once I was home and healing I was remembering things and little clearer. So the morning of that day Bug urinated just fine. What else came to mind was that he didn't have a IV so they could give him fluids since he was obviously dehydrated. So they charged me $1000 for a little blood work and to kill my dog. Since there was no attempt to get his kidneys working. My son and a few others were livid because my Bug could have possibly been saved. read more

We had been coming here since 2017 and used to love it. The original vet retired and the place was bought out. Dr. K who has been around previously was seeing our dogs and he was wonderful. Suddenly, Dr. K is gone and I'm not surprised. This place sucks. The guy co-ordinating the place is driving it into the ground. There is evidently a big turnover of staff. What used to be a desirable neighborhood vet has been turned into a place that I don't want to bring my dogs. read more

I would avoid this place at all costs. We went here years ago when it was under different ownership. We moved and so we now take our dogs to a place in Johnstown. I got a quote from our Johsntown vet of 1100 to have our dogs broken tooth extracted. I figured I would call Flint to see if they would give us a better deal (worth the 30 minute drive to save some money I thought). Over the phone they told me they could extract the tooth for 150$. SOLD. But I had to come in for a consult. At the consult they talked me into doing a tooth cleaning while he was knocked out (since they have to put them under to do a tooth cleaning). Okay makes sense let's do it. That took the quote up to 700. We scheduled the surgery for 2 weeks out (today) and when I took him in this morning .. the estimate was now up to 920. I looked over it and told them we could get rid of the teeth cleaning that they were charing 250$ for, to get it back to the 700$ they quoted me. I was already annoyed since the 700$ had originally included the cleaning but didn't want to haggle - just wanted to get his broken tooth extracted. The receptionist was very helpful and accommodating but Alex - the vet tech - was super rude unprofessional and just not enjoyable to be around. She told me the cleaning was required (even though it was a totally separate added line item and she was the same one that talked me into it as an option during the consult). She denied most of our conversation and then told me it was best if we just leave. Apparently she didn't like being questioned on her bait and switch billing tactics. Unethical unprofessional and poorly run place now under the new team. We would recommend avoiding at all costs .. and that if you find yourself unfortunate enough to be here .. you must record all of your conversations with Alex. She's at best .. very bad at her job .. at worst a liar...most likely both. read more

Dr Kooner and staff all go above and beyond EVERY visit. Honesty, integrity and professionalism go a long way in my book. We have been going there for years and extremely grateful and happy for his entire practice. He educates, teaches (after all he was a Professor at OSU Vet School), cares and is practical. There's nothing wishy-washy about Dr. Kooner. He treats our French Bulldog like a King, as well as our kitties. They have 2 wonderful groomers too which we use all the time for both our doggy and kitty! Great place, great people, great Vet! read more

I spotted Flint Animal Hospital while driving by it one day & today was my dog's (Min Pin) first appointment with Dr. Kooner. We were first seen by the assistant at exactly our appointment time, and he kindly took our info & went over the process. After everything was discussed, we were given the fees before proceeding with any services. Dr. Kooner took his time with us. When receiving the injections, my dog surprisingly didn't have any discomfort, pain, or vomiting afterwards. It helped that the doctor gave me treats to bribe her with while the assistant held her down. I also appreciated the doctor taking his time to explain & educate me on certain concerns I had. My only regret was not coming here sooner! The appointment lasted an hour & I found the fees to be reasonable. I'm definitely coming back here for all my dog's future needs. My wife and I took our cat Izzie in to check up on a mystery lump and get her updated on her shots. Dr. Kooner and his assistant were friendly, welcoming, reassuring, and knowledgeable. Don't be fooled by the rustic, down home exterior of the Flint Animal Hospital. This veterinary clinic is professional with a touch of old school charm and family-like atmosphere. They alleviated my concerns and made me feel at ease with my decision to choose Flint Animal Hospital as my new go-to veterinarian office. And, I believe their cost is exceptional. I'm really happy wth the care they've given our dog here! The facility is not so "hip" or modern as the original vet we took him to, but it's much cheaper (about a third the cost for puppy neutering) and seems like it might have better service than a larger / newer veterinarian's office might give. If you want a fancy place, this is not it. But if you want good explanations of various options with friendly staff who works alongside your preferences and personal needs while also educating about best practices for animal care, that is what I found here. I am a first-time dog owner so may be a little higher maintenance than average customer, and everyone there has helped or directed my questions to the right care professional who has good conversations with me about options. (What kind of heartworm meds, or grooming options, etc. to consider when I make my choice.) they offer grooming and boarding here too. Also, our dog's tail was wagging and he was so happy to walk in the front door again when we came back to the animal hospital to remove his stitches after his neuter! We were going to take her to a MedVet but knew it would take way too long to be seen so we remembered this hospital was close by and decided to give it a try. Dr. Kooner was awesome! He was very thorough, took a lot of time to explain his diagnosis and meds given to my furbaby. My furbaby was better in less than 24 hours. The office was clean, had no foul smells, with no frills. The no frills was definitely seen within the prices. I felt I was paying for the care of my pet and not a fancy office! The vet tech was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I really appreciate the kindness of the entire staff. They even took my payment from the exam room so that I wouldn't have to contain my 130 pound furbaby and manage to fumble for payment out front. I give them many more stars read more
