Keys would play once and then not again because the hammers were not properly returning and of course it was out of tune after standing unused for a long time and then being moved. The piano moving company recommended someone to repair and tune it. He arrived and almost immediately told me I would have to replace almost all the inside workings at a cost of more than $500, possibly a lot more. I decided against the repair as it could easily have cost more than the value of the piano. I waited several months and decided to bring in someone for a second opinion, which is when I found Randy Prentice. After looking it over, he told me I likely did not need to replace anything, and it was hopefully just in need of lubricating. After about two and a half hours of intensive work and tuning, the piano has recovered nicely. It is playable and in tune again, and got there with a very fair price (nowhere near the $500+ I was quoted previously). I highly recommend Randy's services!

Eli, who answered my questions over the phone, was kind and helpful and told me that the Instrumental Music Center performs free assessments. So, I drove the 50 minutes to meet Amber, another kind and helpful employee, and James Gunn, the flute technician. James listened to my concerns and went above and beyond explaining pads, oiling, adjusting, time frame, cost, etc. to me.
