GREAT DRY CLEANER AND ALTERATIONS IN LA CANADA ============================================== I can't believe I haven't reviewed Flintridge Cleaners before now. I have been going there for at least fifteen or more years. The owners are always so sweet and take great care of anything I bring in for dry cleaning. When I need minor alterations I go there as well. Back in the day when I needed Boy Scout badges sewn on my son's sash they always did a great job. They hemmed his uniforms multiple times. I think I have taken other things like pants in for alterations. I feel bad I've not reviewed them until now, but thankfully Yelp reminded me. I've been using their services for 6 months. I felt relieved to have found a dry cleaning establishment that is consistent with their work. They're friendly, clean and take care of my most delicate items, like silk and cashmere. I drive from Pasadena to Flintridge cleaners because other businesses near me didn't meet the above requirements. I've made it a routine to drive up to la Canada and stop by for a hike (perfect area for that) or visit descanso gardens. I don't wear fancy party dresses real often but when I do, I get them dry cleaned after each wearing so any hidden stains don't set. Flintridge Cleaners has done a wonderful job on my dresses, including a delicate fabric with lots of sequins. They are also terrific with alterations. I've had two pairs of jeans that had to be shortened while retaining the original contrast-stitched and slit hems. The altered versions look just like the originals, just shortened. I came in with an Abercrombie and Fitch faux suede garment that had a wash tag saying not to dry clean and all sorts of other things restrictions. Maybe this was some sort of legal thing for Abercrombie not to be on the hook for the sensitive material. It almost implied you can't clean it. Needless to say, it was a challenge for Flintridge cleaners to this milk stain out. They made it clear they'll do their best, but they can't guarantee anything. I get it back looking like new. They have my full trust and I will be back. read more

Brought in a white tuxedo of my father's that my brother was hoping to wear for his wedding if all the age and wear spotting could be removed- and wow did they do a fabulous job! They took a lot of care identifing all the age/stain spots and cleand them up better than was hoped for. They also accomodated our short notice on both the dry cleaning and hemming deadline, which was greatly appriciated. My family has used Flintridge Cleaners for 14 years. They are so kind and reliable, run by a lovely husband, wife and son trio. They have more recently upgraded their equipment to be more environmentally conscious including offering organic products! Their seamstress has been mending and hemming our clothes for many years, and is incredibly talented. She does complex and complicated work fantastically, including hemming a ball gown style prom dress. I called asking for prices to have my dress shirts dry cleaned by Flintridge Cleaners and the owner gave me a wide price range from $3.25 to $7.00! That's a big price swing for dry cleaning a dress shirt. The owner said it depends on the fabric of shirt. He said bring it in and we will give you an exact quote. I said it's just a cottons dress shirt. But he insisted I bring it in. Thereafter, when I asked about having my shirts laundered there, he said he can't quote me over the phone and asked for me to personally bring the shirts in. If the prices are going to be as high as the dry cleaning cost, why would I bring them in just so I can be told a price that is going to be high. Would not recommend this business. read more

Flintridge Cleaners has offered immaculate services for me and my family. They not only have home delivery services but they will also bring the clothes to the car curbside and that's always helpful when you have two kids in the car. My husband had even left money in his suit pocket and they called me to make sure that they were holding it for us. Fabulous tailor who will take care of minor alteration problems for FREE! I have to say up front that I am picky with my military creased uniforms. This place was the only legitimate dry cleaners that was willing to, and catered to law enforcement. This family run business is professional and honest. I always feel good when I can take my business to a place that has fair pricing, great customer service and gives back. Dry cleaning and laundering is excellent. It took me 4 places in LA Cañada to finally get to this one....they are fast, and the quality is great. Good creases and fast service. I love the fact that it's a family business that is multigenerational. I have read some of the previous reviews....and what I can't understand is how someone that isn't happy votes with their words before their dollars. If I was continuously unhappy with someone's service...why would I still subject myself to the same punishment? Honestly....if you are picky like me it takes a while to find a good place...and when you do...support that business. If you don't like a place...just leave. This company has an affiliated business down the street called Flintridge Tailors. Don't go there! They aren't open when they say they'll be open and they don't finish your alterations when they say they will. And they make no offer to apologize for your inconvenience. After trying them for a few years I stopped taking my clothes there all together. They are pretty pricey but used to do a decent job and were more attentive. Their qaulity of work started to go downhill around the time they set up a separte alteration shop (Flintridge Tailors) down the block. I would sometimes express my dissatisfaction to the owner (Emile?). I actually like the guy. Thought he was pretty responsive and patient (yes, I could get pretty direct when I am not happy about the work). What really did it for me was the alteration lady (I believe she is the owner's mother). I do not want to disrepect anyone's mother; but her alteration work was horrible. I took three of my designer suits to Flintridge Tailors to shorten the arms. She guaranteed that she could duplicate the buttons and slits only to butcher them all. The buttons did not even line up straight, and arms, without slits, were not cut evenly and had different lenghts! What's worse was that she would argue and insisted that they were even only to adimit after measuring the arms... amazing! My last visit was when she told me "Life is short. Be happy" when I complained about my shirts not being cleaned properly. Not sure how they can stay in business; but I sure would not recommend this place to anyone who seeks quality workmanship and professionalism. read more
