I recently brought 3 coats to Golden West cleaners and I am honestly blown away by the service. My coats were dirty, matted, and had that stale smell from being stored away and when I picked them up, they looked and felt completely brand new. You would never guess they were the same coats. I had been putting off having our drapery dry-cleaned because I just hadn't found the right cleaners to trust. I had about 80ft (3 pieces) of sheer window drapes that needed to be cleaned and I wanted to make sure they wouldn't be damaged. After trying Golden West Cleaners with my dress shirts and a couple of suits I felt comfortable enough to give them this job. To my surprise the sheer drapes came out cleaner and brighter than I thought they would. There were lots of small stains from finger marks to wine splatter and other things over the past 10 years but ALL of those stains are now gone. Best of all the owner delivered and hung them back up with a few final touches at the end to make them hang perfectly. I got two vests cleaned here. They stapled the dry cleaned bag to the vest (brand new, Travis Mathews). I went in to see what they could to fix this mistake given it had resulted in two noticeable snags from the staple. The woman there was incredibly rude and told me that because she didn't do it on purpose there's nothing she could do. She tried to steam it quickly and act as if the snags were no longer there. They were. When I pressed her that taking no responsibility and not offering any sort of solution for their mistake she told me I was in a bad mood and "karma" would get back to me. I just stopped in to pick up a pair of pants ($6.85!). The person working the counter was not wearing a mask. I said, "No mask, huh?" She responded, "Masks don't do anything." I chose not to engage further. She then told me, "I always wear a mask." An odd thing to say since she wasn't wearing one. I continued to say nothing. She then told me, "I was eating when you can came in, so took my mask off [but chose not to put it back on, even when the customer raised it]." So she wasn't wearing a mask because either: (1) masks don't work; (2) she was actually wearing an invisible mask; or (3) she was eating and couldn't put on one when I came in. read more

Last year an elderly gentleman sold us coupon/discounts for this dry cleaner and being the good neighbor who tries to support our local businesses, we purchased one coupon card. Although with huge regret....every time I visit this place, I leave with a disappointment. Particularly, Amy who is the owner/partner, has a terrible and unwelcoming attitude who always complains about other cleaners (very unprofessional) and tries to make the customer feel bad for purchasing this coupon. She always has new rules about the usage of the card. As if they didn't really want the customer to buy it so they can charge you full rate. The husband is much more pleasant to deal with but I have had it with her. There are many other cleaners who appreciate my money and I rather spend it somewhere else where I'm valued. read more

All should be aware that this business does not respect or abide by current guidelines for masking (also see Ross H's review), and don't be fooled by the flashy remodel, the customer service is awful. There were two women talking near the front register when I approached the open doors and neither had their mask on (wearing mask on ear or on neck/over mouth/chin). I asked if they could put their masks on before I entered and the main woman gave me an attitude saying, "I don't know what kind of day you are having but we are wearing our masks" (even though they weren't). She then told me they didn't need to wear masks if vaccinated, which is completely untrue during the current Delta surge (per Los Angeles County Department of Public Health guidelines). I told her that I am a physician and well aware of current COVID-19 guidelines and she told me she has 5 doctors in her family, so I replied then she should know better. I have tried to continue supporting this local business during the pandemic (and the man who at other times staffs the register is pleasant and wears his mask) but today was my last visit. I told the woman I would not be returning and she did not care one bit. I also asked her to stop sending workers to knock at my home for pick-up orders which they have done unsolicited in the past, and she replied good luck that lots of businesses do that. Never in 18 months of this pandemic have I experienced such an unpleasant encounter with a business. I miss the kind customer service and lower prices of the previous owners. read more

I've been coming to this cleaner for 7 years. Two weeks ago I went and brought two dresses in, one to hem and one to dry clean. For some reason, the owner, a generally nice Korean lady wrote down that both were to be hemmed. Because of her mistake, she had both dresses cut and hemmed by two inches. When I went to pick them up, the one dress was fine but the other was clearly ruined. She claims I told her that both needed to be cut, I specifically did not tell her this and was clear in my instructions, she wrote it down wrong and fails to see that in a service industry like a dry cleaning, she should know that the customer is always right. She unhemmed my dress but the dress is silk so the fabric has holes in it from the mistaken hem not to mention its two inches too short to wear as a dress for work. She claims that the holes in the dress from the improper hemming will come out but I know and she knows it will not. The dress is ruined. I paid 178.00 dollars for it a less than 2 months ago at Ann Taylor and there is no way to replace it. The owner said she would call me but she has not, so I am left with a ruined garment. The problem with this whole thing is that this dry cleaners has no clear policy as to what amends they will make if they ruin a garment. In fact, they have no policy whatsoever it seems. BUYER BEWARE is their policy. I spend about 50-100/month on dry cleaning and I do all my alterations with them. I'm petite so everything has to be cut and altered for me. I am a good and loyal customer and do not feel like they have treated me properly, so badly that I felt the need to write this review. Be careful of taking your clothes to this cleaners, they are too stupid and short sighted to understand what bad will they generate by not making amends for something so minor as 175.00 to their loyal and regular customers. Lose a regular customer of 7 years over this? When you do the cost benefit analysis, it hardly seems worth it. If they had offered me something, a credit for 100.00 worth of cleaning, something, I would have overlooked this, but pretending the problem was my fault entirely when it was clearly their mistake is just plain stupid, and a stupid business practice. I posted a picture of the hem of the dress, it has holes and a permanent crease that will never come out, the garment is RUINED and this business will not do a thing about it. It takes a lot to get me to write a bad review and while I do take some responsibility for my part in this, what happened with this cleaner is so awful that I couldn't resist writing about my experience. I took two items into the Golden West Cleaners...one brand new item (a jumpsuit) that had been freshly tailored and only worn once for a simple pressing out of the wrinkles and one top for drycleaning only. The part that I take responsibility with is that I both lost the ticket and then took about 2 months to go and pick up the clothing. When I went in (without the ticket), I gave them my full name and phone number and they told me that they didn't have anything in my name. I didn't panic, I just assumed that there was some confusion and thought I would look again for the ticket and come back. One thing led to another....I looked everywhere for the ticket....couldn't find it....a few months went by again and I decided to go over again and see if they can do a more thorough search. By this time it was about 4-5 months later so again, I take full responsibility for both loosing the ticket and for being so tardy in picking up my clothing. This second time I went in, I gave the same info as before (name and tel) and this time they immediately found my clothing. When I explained that I had come in before and they couldn't find any record of the items, one woman laughed and then spoke in her native language to the other woman who then laughed as well....not really the response I was looking for, but it was not worth it to get upset over it as I was relieved to find that my clothing wasn't lost all together. The top looked fine, but the jumpsuit had a very clear blood stain...where a woman would get if that time of the month was a surprise....(sorry to be so crude!). The blood stain was definitely not mine. When I pointed it out, letting them know that I did not bring it in with this stain, they argued that it was mine and said they could not get it out (strange to hear that a cleaner couldn't get out a stain like that ...especially since it was made while it was under their care!). At that point, I just wanted to get out of there and didn't want to get into an argument, thinking that the stain would be easy to get out on my own and was honestly relieved that they found my clothing at all as the jumpsuit again was brand new and I had tailored the length to go perfectly with a pair of very high shoes and was excited to wear it at an upcoming event. Then I tried the jumpsuit on when I got home and it was actually too short to wear even with a one inch heel. Although I had tailored them to go all the way to the floor with a 5 inch heel, I can now only wear it with flip flops making it a very casual outfit and not at all what I bought it for. Because I tailor everything and am pretty meticulous with it, it is pretty obvious to see what happened. I don't know why I didn't realize how much shorter the jumpsuit was until I tried it on, so focused on the mysterious blood stain instead that I missed the fact that it is about 5 inches shorter than when I brought it in. What it looks like is that someone had clearly borrowed my jumpsuit or they gave it to the wrong person who actually wore it, got a stain, either washed it and shrunk it or maybe even tailored it to fit them better. I will never know how this happened, but I am pretty pissed that I brought them a brand new item that I paid to have tailored...that just needed to be pressed and they delivered the same item back, ruining the look and adding a blood stain by a stranger. Needless to say I would NEVER recommend anyone to go to this place! What happened and even the way they handled things from every angle is awful! read more
