I have been to Flip Cafe before and the food was good and the service spotty. But I am all for a good food experience so I decided to give it another try. However, I was so disappointed in my recent experience at Flip that I doubt I will return. I arrived at Flip Cafe during lunch hour so there was a bit of a crowd - not too bad, but a few people waiting. I was ignored for a few minutes before anyone talked to me but was seated fairly quickly, at least within ten minutes, possibly less. Here's where the real trouble began. I was seated and then waited several minutes before someone came to take my order. I ordered my drink and entree at the same, as I was in a bit of a time crunch. However, at least twenty minutes passed before I even got my drink. The table next to me finished eating, changed patrons, and those new people got their drinks and I had nothing, not even a water. Finally, my tea arrived. However, after that my waitress disappeared. I never saw her again and was given no food. At least twenty more minutes passed - I was at Flip for nearly an hour with no food. What was most disappointing was that no one offered me any kind of consolation. Even if the waitress had come to me and said, "I'm so sorry, we're really packed, we'll get your food right out" or "We're sorry. If you're in a hurry, we can pack things up to go" or acknowledged me in any way, that would have been something. I know other people get complementary flips when their food is late - guess I'm not in the "in-crowd" for those. I got no acknowledgement whatsoever. I saw the waitress when leaving. She was standing by the kitchen and said, "I told them you needed your food." I said I had to go. She said, "Sorry hon." It wasn't flippant - she seemed to care slightly - but the only decent think she did was to not require me to pay for the tea. I travel to Edinboro frequently on business and wanted to like this place. But I guess this restaurant doesn't value individual customers. Go at your own risk. read more

Cute little cafe in Edinboro. Stopped there on the way to see friends in NY. The flips are a specialty there. They are kind of like beignets. I wasn't in the mood for breakfast food at 11AMso I ordered the pulled pork sandwich which came on Texas toast. The sand which was really good and had a ton of pulled pork on it. They had a dessert case filled with cupcakes, cakes and pies, I wish I would have gotten one for the road but I was full by the time I was finished with lunch. I will be going back to try other stuff on the menu and definitely a cupcake or two or seven. read more

Great breakfast, great sandwiches, and phenomenal desserts! I've never had a better piece of coconut cream pie! They also have a couple gluten free items for those who need them. Service is always great, too. Only downfall is that it gets very busy, and it is quite small. It feels a little tight when you are seated, too. We were in town for a wedding and stopped here before leaving for home. I'm a vegetarian and the menu had a lot of options. I got their breakfast #8 with egg whites. It was an omelette with jalapeño, guacamole and cheese with taco sauce and salsa on top. I got the cinnamon flips too. It was really yummy and prepared well. My hubby got eggs sunny side up with eye toast and their potatoes. He really likes the potatoes. They had sour cream and onions in them. The toast was homemade and good. We had to wait for our table but they let me have a cup of coffee while we waited. The service was ok. I asked the server and the person that seated us for Splenda and they both forgot. My hubby grabbed some from another table. The food took a long time to come to us and my omelette wasn't hot with cold spots but it was still good. I would definitely recommend the restaurant but plan on it taking a while. read more

I would give this location 4.5 stars if possible. I'm not a cafe person by any means, but Flip Cafe is my go to for some of the best fresh mac and cheese in town. And their fries are to die for. They are generally quick with orders and it's nice to see a place in town do so well, especially considering all of the failed business this part of Edinboro has experienced over the years. I give it a 4/5 simply because of size. The layout is too cramped. It's very hard to enjoy eating in this place because you're practically onto of the next table during certain hours. Because of this, I typically order to go. I feel like they're not working with alot of room as it is, but they should seriously consider changing the seating layout or making it either reservation only, or isolating the reservations from the walk ins. The food certainly makes up for it, and not all will mind the close quarters, but that's why it wasn't a 5/5 in my book. Would recommend to anyone looking for tasty food though. read more

Breakfast is always good! Prices are reasonable and the specials are always fun to try! If you're feeling adventurous give the pulled pork and jalapeño omelette a try. The breads are all homemade as well. Most of the time we don't have room for dessert but we always take at least one piece of pie home. The apple, pb pie and coconut are my favorite. If there is a line be patient its worth the wait. read more

I sit for quite awhile at most 15-20 mins and asked for a table for three and wouldn't you know it some other people walked in and wanted a table for three or four and they sat them and I got up and left with my family!! I was very angry because I love having fresh pancakes but guess I'll have to start making them at home cause I will not be back. read more

Waited in the tight lobby for 1 hour where you are shoulder to shoulder with other customers. Only had a party of 2 it should not be an hour wait, then we order and it took another hour to get our food. Hangry is an understatement. read more

I went with 3 other people and we all agreed that the ambience, service, and food was well above average. Pulled pork sandwich is a hidden gem! Chorizo Smash and Greek Smash are probably my favorite items. I love this place.

This was the perfect college town caffe experience, from the start with chocolate milk in a cold glass mug, I ordered the Ruben omelette, easily the best breakfast I have ever had, hash browns were perfect, cinnamon flips were delicious, even down to the whole wheat toast. It's a shame the service is so lacking and the place is so dirty because they really do have good food. We come for breakfast when we are in town and always have something wrong (i.e. Hair in the food/cold coffee/etc.) and they never really do anything about it. Today was awful because we asked for dry wheat toast well done because the bread is delicious but they barely even warm it so it isn't really "toast." It came out late and wasn't well done or even done so we had to ask to send the toast back (also we were missing an item). By the time we got the last item we were basically done and the toast came back several minutes after that with butter and not well done at all. We don't like to complain but showed her it was buttered and it took another 5 minutes to get our toast by that time we were completely done. They could tell we were miserable and took a meal off which was the right thing to do but it would have just been nicer to have all the food at once and how we ordered it (not that it was a difficult order). I'm not one to leave a one star review but this happens all the time and it would have been better to just stay home. I wish the kitchen could get it together because the food is good! read more
