Came here for Bfast on a Wednesday. We had a girls trip in Erie and kept passing this place and decided to stop 1 day for Bfast. Crowded. But sat us quickly. There were 5 of us. Server took drink orders quickly too. Menu is pretty big. Decided on the grilled cheese with bacon, tomato, pepper jack and mozzarella cheese and home fries. It was big. No skimping. Tasted good too. 1 friend got the 1/2 a frittata and it was the whole plate. The half... she said it was good and took it home. Someone got the sandwich with Italian sausage, cheese, and eggs. That was good. Then 2 people got some eggs over easy and some potato pancakes. The potato pancakes were just ok. But that's fine. They have generous portions and not too much money. This place was a winner. Simple decor, lots of families and groups. They turned over tables and moved you along. Pay up front at the end. Simple and easy. This place is a good little find. read more

Food is OK, atmosphere too. Typical diner ambience. But the line is horrible. Supposedly it moves fast, but there is no order. There is nowhere to sign in (or it's not obvious), and there's no way to tell who's there before or after you because people wait inside, outside, and between. If you are looking for filling cheap food this is the place to go! With inflation and prices nowadays this is the best, most inexpensive food I have ever had. An omelette is like $5! My step mom and I went here for breakfast and our total with drinks was $16 that is CRAZY nowadays. The service was quick and good too. Anyways the place has a diner like feel. As far as how the food is, it is very good. I got a ham and cheese omelette which was very good. I do wish the ham chunks were smaller, but that is my preference. I also got a breakfast sandwich and it tasted good no complaints there. The cinnamon bread was delicious! It was covered in sweet icing and was hot and the perfect treat. Overall, I recommend this place for some fast, cheap, and good breakfast. read more

Excellent service. Fast and friendly. Huge portions and cool menu items combined with very reasonable pricing. It's a real local establishment, and I love those kinds of places. We will definitely be back. Like lots of local places, they are experiencing staffing issues that have forced the place to cut their hours of operation. After driving by this place during non-breakfast hours, finally had the opportunity to stop in for breakfast. Smaller family style restaurant are waitress was Tammi B who did a stellar job in taking care of us and providing above and beyond service. Were in a little later morning, even though we had to have a food re-heated it still was wonderful and the perfect portion. Great value for the money, even made the owner Frank smile...and I heard that doesn't happen often. If I'm traveling through or in town will definitely stop back for breakfast. read more

This location is no where near as good as the one on 38th St went to the peach st location and was very disappointed. The food was lukewarm when served and it wasn't even the correct food. Wrong type of toast, wrong potatoes. Bacon cold, toast cold both times and there were tiny flies circling our table. Overall very disappointed. read more

Took me and the wife out for breakfast. I ordered the chip beef on toast with hash browns wife got eggs Benny. My food came out first wife's to follow 6 minutes later. My chipped beef was lukewarm hash browns cold. Wife's egg Benny was ok she said. 7 hrs later the flood gates opened stomach cramps. Then at 9pm wife got the shits. Food was not hot when served it. The food was amazing. Honestly I don't live in Erie but south a ways and if I'm ever going to head into Erie in the morning you bet I'm going. The food came out so fast and it was delicious. Our waitress was amazing. So friendly! We picked the breakfast place after we walked out of another restaurant for being inconsiderate. So much better than ihop glad they didn't work out because we came here and it was lovely. The walls are covered in pictures of classic cars and the atmosphere is so homey and classic. This might have been the worst breakfast I ever had. I got the big breakfast. All my fiancée and I's food was cold. The give you Italian sausage for your breakfast and it seemed like fair food. Almost as if it's been sitting in a pan that they made in bulk. The French toast was cold and hard to cut. The staff was really nice though. Ordered breakfast to go while on vacation. The food was ok but not the best. We had egg omelets and home fries. The bacon in omelets had funny taste like it wasn't made that day might have been just warmed up from a few days ago. The home fries were bland and soggy. I had heard stories from my family about this place but I thought many of them were embellished. Today I found out that they weren't. We got there about 10:15am, kinda late for breakfast so I thought there wouldn't be anyone there....we had to wait in line for a table! We didn't wait long though. First off, if you want quiet conversation, this isn't the place for you. This is a breakfast joint with a capital J. It's noisy but fun and relaxed. Our server was excellent. She was patient while the seven of us perused their ample menu and answered any questions we had. I ordered the country fried steak covered in sausage gravy, potatoes, and rye toast. Everything was excellent. Their corned beef hash is to die for. All our orders were excellent and portion sizes are HUGE. I can't speak for lunch or dinner but this is THE place for breakfast in Erie. Accept no imitations, this place is the real deal. Including tip (20%) the entire bill was $80 for the seven of us. Not ridiculous considering the portion size and quality of food. To-go boxes will be needed for most people. You can thank me for the recommendation later. read more

Perfect greasy spoon diner, albeit for one rude customer, but we'll get to that... My eyes zeroed in immediately on the fritatta. Sausage, onions, green peppers, hashbrowns, banana pepper AND and egg cooked on top. DONE! It was delicious. The menu allows for you to order a full size and half size. I was hesitant to order the half, because I was hungry, but geez was I glad I did. The half portion is pretty much a full portion and the full portion has to be ginormous! I could only finish half of my half portion! Service was extremely friendly. But this one impatient dude screamed at our host in the middle of the dining room because he thought we had been sat before him (we were in fact there first). He was sat ONE SECOND after us... but dang man, chill out. I hope this isn't what most customers are like, because I feel bad for the staff. Especially because they're so nice. The only incredibly minor and nit picky thing I'd note is that I smelled smoke in the restaurant and even though I knew it was non-smoking, I realized that some of the staff were hanging out an open door from the kitchen smoking. I realize this is being super anal, but maybe just fully go outside and smoke, and shut the door behind you. I'm not down with the smoke smell with my eggs. We went for breakfast on Saturday morning, and waited about twenty minutes to be seated. After we placed our order we waited 1 1/2 hours to receive our food. We placed our order at 10:50 and received our food at 12:30 pm, which meant that we were technically eating lunch by the time the food arrived. We ordered English muffins and they weren't toasted, which is rather odd, because it had a raw doughy taste. The waitress said it was, because we waited so long for our food and they just wanted to send it out immediately, and sent them back to be toasted. In general our food was okay and I understood they were extremely busy, so waiting and having tea wasn't a huge deal. The waitress was very nice! The prices were appropriate for breakfast food. The overall quality of the food was okay. Ordered the steak and eggs omelet, and the meat was overcooked, but it was still very good. The menu includes a variety of options so everyone will be sure to find something they want. I would go back to this place again, but I would go much earlier than 10:50 am to avoid the rush. read more

I got to visit this place for the first time. This was my very first trip to Erie and my friend suggested we come here for breakfast because it was close and the food was cheap. Needless to say, yes the food is cheap. The service is great i certainly will have to admit that but i was not blown away by their food. I ordered potato pancakes, over easy eggs, sourdough toast, bacon, hash browns and breakfast sausage. First, you have to make sure that if you want sausage that you ask for BREAKFAST SAUSAGE! otherwise they will give you Italian sausage, not sure of this is just a PA thing or what but my friend made sure to tell me before i ordered. The potato pancakes were not great, don't other ordering them. The hash browns weren't all that great as well, just your average hash brown. Overall if you're looking for a cheap, easy place to eat head to this place for sure. read more

My family and I went to the Breakfast Place in early June on a Monday morning. There were 10 of us. The server mentioned something about getting the tables situated and the next thing I see we end up in three booths in a row making it impossible to talk, see each other, etc...We had two different waitresses as well. My parents food came out about 3-4 minutes after my sisters and my family ordered. So the food finally comes out and we needed powdered sugar for my one sons pancakes, a cinnamon roll for my wife. Drink refills, funny. I am drinking water which costs the restaurant a lot. I tell my son not to worry about the powdered sugar and the next thing I see is our waitress take a small cup over to my niece and then go disappear again. My wife still has no cinnamon roll. I track her down at the register, remind her we still need a cinnamon roll and powdered sugar. She was like I thought I gave it to you. Her original plan was to walk over to my sisters families table and grab the powdered sugar from my niece. Fortunately she came to her senses after she realized it was used and told us she would get a fresh one, like she was doing us a favor. She was an awful waitress. My parents had a young girl who was all over the restaurant, pleasant, and efficient. The sad part is the food was REALLY good! I had the country fried steak which was excellent. I had some potato pancakes and they were VERY tasty as well. Next time I'm in Erie I'd risk going again as long as I don't have that waitress again. Food was good, and the price was right. read more

Haven't been to The Breakfast Place in years and after today we remember why. Food came out pretty much burnt. Sausage was over cooked. Strawberry pancakes just had chopped up strawberries one with with out anything. French toast was so tough it was almost impossible to cut. Steak omelet was cooked to death. Also if you plan to pay with a card they charge you extra but you're not told that till you are paying. Definitely will not be going back!! I was passing thru the area, and need breakfast. So why not try The Breakfast Place. When I pulled in, I was a little concerned. I'm going to be nice and describe the outside as "unassuming". But that's generally OK if everything else is up to par - I'm here to eat, not admire architecture. Well... the food, the service, and the cleanliness/decor inside were all excellent. There is nothing fancy about this place - if that's what you're looking for. This is good, ol' fashioned greasy-spoon breakfast. A home-town, down-home style place. If that's not for you... maybe don't go and give it poor reviews. But if that's what you're looking for, definitely hit up this place. I would probably go with 3 stars. But... When you first walk in to this iconic diner, the nostalgia of American nostalgia washes over you. Between the hustling of the wait staff and the small talk of the patrons over their meals, it truly is an atmosphere unlike any other. The food is incredible at an affordable price. It's busy, you wait in line, sometimes the kitchen is slow. There's a wait for a reason... The food is always good. The wait staff is always polite, and always accommodating. I have never eaten food here I didn't like. Cajun eggs, omelette, chorizo bowl, sausage and biscuits are always good. And so are the pancakes. And the stuffed French toast. Don't order too much because you'll eat yourself stupid. Don't let the negative Nancy's on this page tell you their one bad experience here is a two star joint. Even nice restaurants have bad days. The food was decent, service was decent, overall experience was decent. But that's about it, decent. I was unimpressed with their menu due to the lack of sweet breakfast food. I love pancakes, waffles, French toast, things of that nature; and there were few of these items to choose from. My boyfriend got Cajun eggs. The portion was huge and he really liked it. I ordered a basic breakfast with two eggs, bacon, a sausage link, homefries, and toast. And again, it was decent.
