Nice lil place and real quick lunch stop. Menus on yelp aren't correct as I came to try the roast beef sandwich or the graziano Italian sandwich and both weren't on the menu (my reason for 4 stars) but I did get the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and it was really good. Kinda messy but you can't complain when it's good. Waitress was very sweet and made sure I wasn't waiting to long for anything. The inside is very nice and clean. We first visited Flip' N Jacks on a Saturday morning. Based on the number of cars in the parking lot, we expected a long wait for our 6 person (plus a baby) party. To my surprise, we were seated almost immediately. My second assumption was that service would be slow since the restaurant was so busy. I am not exaggerating when I say someone checked in on us every 5-10 minutes. Impressive! The menu choices reflected the hours of the restaurant (5:30am - 3:00pm). This included a large variety of both sweet and savory breakfast options. "Traditional" lunch items were also available on the off chance that was what you were looking for.....but why? Everyone on our party agreed was food was delicious. The portion sizes were enormous as well, affording us many leftovers for another day. The only negative I could find would be that the menus desperately need to be reprinted. The ink used on them was easily rubbed off, making parts of the menu disappear. Check this place out! Honestly, I can see it becoming a favorite breakfast/lunch place for us. I just ate there, and am already planning my next visit. read more

This was the best breakfast of my 52 years! I had the chicken fried steak, which I could not stop eating. I chose the breakfast potatoes which had the perfect amount of herbs. Skip the ketchup they are too delicious to ruin with ketchup. Service was okay. Atmosphere is casual but enjoyable. They do have alcohol available but I had to stick to work appropriate beverages. Our first time trying this restaurant out and we will definitely be back! I couldn't decide between the skillet and the flapjacks and the waitress told me since the skillet came with a side, you could choose a single flapjack as a side! Say what!?! Oh yes! Both dishes were AMAZING! Fresh, delicious, and beautiful! My husband and son choose the Buttermilk Flapjacks with a side of seasoned potatoes and a side of corned beef hash (not pictured). The restaurant is clean, welcoming and a warm environment! The staff was pleasant, knowledgeable, and attentive! The owner was available and receptive to his customers. First time visit today. We arrived about 1:30 and there were plenty of customers but not packed. THe place is cute and was very clean. We were promptly seated and the server was very nice. It took longer for us to decide what to have than it did to get our food I think. It was super fast. I had the MIle High Omelet which is very big, I could not finish, it came with a choice of fruit or potatoes and also a pancake. THe pancake was incredible, as was my omelet. My husband got a skillet and it was a lot of food. We both had a take out box. While we were there a customer was rudely complaining to the manager/owner and both my husband and I were impressed on well he handled the situation, even after the woman started telling him how to run a business. He deserves a medal. We will be back again. OVerall an excellent dine in experience and IT'S LOCAL. read more

Very good place for brunch in ames the menu is huge which makes it hard to choose but that is always better than having nothing to choose from. All of the food was delicious and the drink were also good. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu items. read more

My son and I stopped here for breakfast and were so happy we did! He had the Tres Leche pancake and I had the Cluck Cluck Skillet. Both were amazing with each bite. Stopped by after they recently opened. There were some issues and typical growing pains with a new restaurant opening but we were patient with the staff as our waiter apologized and followed up with us at every opportunity despite it being incredibly busy. The food was amazing, though and definitely worth the wait. I'm sure as staff gets through the opening quirks that it will improve but the food is definitely worth the wait! Great crepes and fresh coffee (freshly ground then brewed in plain sight) make for a wonderful breakfast venue! For those of you reading the reviews stating discrimination, etc. it's worth to note I'm not white, my waiter wasn't white, the hostess was white and I experienced nothing but courteous and professional service. I had the vegetarian omelette with fruit and it was delicious. Instead of nasty melons they served strawberries and blueberries at perfect flavor. The veggie omelette was stuffed with lots of good vegetables, including spinach. Service was good and the decor is bright and sunny. I would recommend Flipping Jack's. read more

PROS: I have NO problem with the food here. In the 3-4 times I have eaten there, every dish was satisfyingly prepared and came in ENORMOUS portions CONS: My biggest complaint is the ambience. This structure is all metal and wood with no sound-deadening features. On our last visit, we arrived just before the lunchtime rush and the decible level rose steadily. At first, I could'nt make out the comments of the person sitting just accros the -- even with both of us leaning in. Then it became so painful that I had to take out my hearing aids. Even that didn't help. We both fled as soon as we could. My second complaint is the quality of service on this visit. When ordering, each of us specified "sepatate checks." Despite this, the waitress -- who appeared to have a shakey grasp of English -- looked around for help, apparently didn't find any, and wandered off. MY ADVICE: If you want to have a conversation during your meal (or even just value your hearing) AVOID RUSH HOUR or just order take-out. And avoid the big blond waitress. read more

My wife chose the chicken nashville and chicken alfredo, while I selected the spaghetti meatballs and their trademark burger.
