I like this place. It is really eclectic and different for Lubbock. The best part about this divey pinball bar is the fresh and delectable hot dogs. If you like hot dogs you really have to go here. No excuses. Oh, you're a vegetarian or vegan? Flips has you covered. The toppings are endless. Crawfish fondue. That's right. It is a creamy delight that you can order as an app or to drench your dog in. It is so yummy. They have a full bar and some drink specialties. I wouldn't call it a fancy drink stop, but it gets the job done. They have multiple pinball machines that are fully operating and take quarters. The inside has a good amount of seating and the outdoor patio is covered and spacious. They also carry different kinds of sausages and meat alternatives. They have a little something for everyone and seem to really take care of their regulars. I took one star away just for the hit and miss wait staff. Sometimes they are great and very friendly and other times it can be a little off. All in all, this place rocks! read more

Awesome place. Pinball, alcohol, and gourmet hot dogs. What more could you want? The spicy dog isn't too spicy, but I totally dig the crawfish fondue one. Be forewarned: it's messy. They also make a mean Moscow Mule. I'd visit Lubbock again just to swing by Flips another time. read more

Stopped by on our way thru Lubbock, easy access from I-27. Enjoyed the decor; food and drink were great. We got the lunch Ruban and the Philly both were scrumptious and the Mac n cheese was excellent. We will definitely stop again. read more

IF YOU WANT TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE COME TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!!! If I could give this establishment 0 stars I would. Their food couldn't make up for the lack of professionalism in their employers. Their bartender Mary, was very unprofessional & rude. We understand they have to follow COVID-19 guidelines, but when we've been sitting there eating and having drinks for 2 hours+, have gone to the restroom, & have been addressed ONCE "hey can you wear your mask" the SECOND TIME going to the bathroom AND we do...then we're still there enjoying our time with no one saying anything to us, but when we paid out AND tipped, then walking out Mary decides to say something we're a little taken back. She yells across the bar "hey don't come back here for awhile" in a loud and rude tone, that is very unprofessional and not a way a employee should talk to a customer. We almost thought it was a joke since no one said anything to us while we were sitting there for 2 hours+, you'd think if we were causing a problem they'd come to the table and nicely address the issue but that didn't happen. We called to get the general managers number (yesterday the day we went to Flippers August 25, 2020) & talked to Simone the next day, (today, August 26, 2020) and Simone was siding with her employers even though we were kindly trying to express that we felt as paying customers it was really disrespectful how Mary handled things without even addressing the issues beforehand. If you want to go to a place to get food with a side of disrespectful waitresses this is the place to go! We'll be taking this up with the owner of Flippers Tavern, hopefully he'll do something about hiring nicer workers. This is one of my favorite bars in town. The atmosphere is one of a kind, the concept is awesome and nostalgic, and the food and beer is to die for. In Lubbock where chains are the big thing, it's great for a local place like this to call Lubbock home. Unique and tucked away, it offers things you never thought about eating (tamale on a hot dog anyone). Flipper's Tavern is one of my favorite places in Lubbock so far. The place has an interesting vibe inside with it's retro pinball decor, and they have a great patio. Definitely a plus. They always seem to have something going on. The first time I went, there was a really great two-man band there. The last time I went by for a late lunch on a Sunday, and they were having a pinball tournament. If you are into trivia, you should check them out on Sunday evenings while "Geeks who Drink" is going on. The staff have been very attentive and knowledgeable every time I've been. Another great meal here! Love this place more and more. The boyfriend is in love with this place too. I put together my own dog for the first time and it was great! I got the beef frank with pulled pork, peppered bacon, bbq sauce, pico, and ghost pepper cheese. Delicious but definitey asking for more bacon and bbq sauce next time! My boyfriend got a special signature dog that was like a philly cheesesteak spinoff. I think it was called "Filthy Wizard" maybe? It was good whatever it was called. Had the soft pretzels for the first time as well and they were tasty, could have used some more salt on them but I like a lot of salt on my pretzels. It's served with cheese sauce to dip but I asked for honey mustard and their style of honey mustard reminded me of the honey mustard you get with your soft pretzel in the amish country in Pennsylvania. Loved it Wish they would make their dessert menu a bit more exciting/enticing though to go with the stellar-ness of the rest of their menu. read more
