The facility is very nice and relaxing as soon as you walk in your met with warm aromas and calming music. Our float guide Raven was very helpful walking us through the whole facility getting to know how to use the float room and all of the other amenities at their location. I really love that they have spaces for relaxation after you finish or before you go into your service. Be sure to grab a cup of tea before or after your visit! I love that they offer so many different packages for float trips as well as other meditative and massage based services. I was gifted a Float and got to enjoy it today. One word - amazing! This is the experience you never knew you needed. Soothing, relaxing, refreshing-you just float on your back with the lights on or off - music or no music. You are tucked away into your own private little oasis for 30 minutes or 60 minutes. You have to surrender to the salt water and float. It's shallow water so you can sit up or stand up at any time. I started with nice warm tea then went to my room. You shower first and then begin your session. They have everything you need - ear plugs, towels, robes, pool noodles, ear drops, q-tips, contact cases, shampoo/conditioner, body wash and blow dryers. You shower again after your session and you can go relax in the Zen room with some tea or water. The friendly staff is there to support you every step of the way. If you need to destress this is the way to do it. This is a very nice clean facility with a caring staff. read more

Floating has literally changed my life. I've been curious about it for years but never overcame my fear of trying new things. But then I spent three days in hell with every joint and muscle in my body in a state of extreme achiness. I was ready to try and find a heroin dealer. I even doordashed a TENS unit to work. Floating came to mind, i looked it up and booked it. The staff was so welcoming. Got me started with some tea, then showed me around and then showed me to the float room and explained everything. When I got done, I nearly cried in relief. I felt human again. I couldn't wait to do it again. I tried another floating place closer to my work and it was good as well. But I decided to make floating a regular part of my life and the membership options at FloatSTL are better. And having two locations is very convenient. I cannot more highly recommend float therapy as a whole and FloatSTL in particular. read more

This was my first time floating, and our wellness guide Nu did a wonderful job explaining how everything worked. As a 6'2" person I was a little worried about feeling cramped, but I got a deluxe room and it was not an issue. The accommodations were great. They had everything one would need for a float, and more! After my float I hung out in the "Zen Den" to wait for my partner to finish and it was extremely relaxing. I'm new to the whole experience, but I definitely would do it again. This would make a great gift! read more

Warm, soothing, and restful, I was very comfortable and it was not at all claustrophobic. Rating: 4/5 stars This was my first ever float, and overall it was a great experience! The atmosphere at Float STL is absolutely beautiful--calm, clean, and so well thought out. The staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. They took time to explain all the services offered and really made me feel comfortable. It's definitely a space designed for deep relaxation. Now for the one downside. I purchased a $22 swim cap hoping it would keep my hair dry during the float. I have sisterlocks that are down my back and had just been freshly retightened, so I was trying to protect them. After my float and shower, I noticed water running down my face and into my eyes. That's when I realized the cap had filled with water, which caused my eyes to burn from the salt. I had to rush back into the shower, shampoo my hair, and blow dry it. That whole process took about 30 minutes and unfortunately cut into the time I had planned to relax in the cozy post-float area. I felt bad even using the blow dryer because I didn't want to disturb anyone else's float. I had a 7 PM appointment(60 min float) and didn't finish drying my hair until about 8:50 PM, leaving me with only 10 minutes to enjoy the lounge before closing. I did manage to sip a warm cup of tea for those last few minutes, which was a nice way to end the night. One other small thing--I requested the music play nonstop during my float so I wouldn't have to worry about adjusting it, but there were a few times when it went silent. Thankfully, the experience was still very relaxing (I even fell asleep!), but that inconsistency is worth mentioning. I appreciated the thoughtful touch on my way out--a beautiful envelope with my name on it, thanking me for my first float and including a BOGO coupon for future visits. That really stood out. Overall, Float STL was a wonderful experience and I'd absolutely recommend it. The staff, environment, and attention to detail are top notch. I'm giving it 4 stars mostly because of the swim cap situation and the music hiccup--but I'll definitely be back! read more

I was a little leery about what benefits floating really provides, but ended up really enjoying myself. When you first enter, the lobby is very relaxing and you're offered tea or water to drink. When we were ready, the staff did a great job at explaining the process. The float itself was so much fun! I used to original tank and felt like I still had plenty of room in there. It was storming badly and my machine reset about halfway through the experience. The staff was so kind and refunded my purchase and gave me a voucher to try them again. My husband was able to finish his float and also had many positive things to say. They also offer a room with hair care supplies to get ready for the real world again after your float as well. I felt very relaxed and my skin enjoyed the epson salt soak. I can't wait to go back again! read more

This is a nice facility, but I've discovered that "floating" is not my cup of tea. I booked the larger float room to ensure that I would be comfortable because the pods looked claustrophobic to me. I found the complete darkness to be disconcerting, so I turned on the light and then had to open the door a bit to let in some fresh air because it was super steamy in there. When floating in complete darkness (like you can't see your hand in front of you kind of darkness), all I could hear was my heartbeat, like the telltale heart... even though I left the "music" on. My arms and legs were floating, but my booty was dragging the bottom... I used the head and neck rest, which helped me relax but I still couldn't fully relax. I had a paper cut on my finger I didn't realize I had and found out later that they provide petroleum jelly for minor cuts. I think adding a button to intercom the front desk in case you need ssomethingwould be a good idea to add to the rooms. I ended my float early and when I left I expected to be asked how it was and I was going to let them know, but she just said thank you for coming and goodbye! At the end of the month I always love to pause and check-in with myself to make sure I'm caring for my own mental health. FLOAT STL is the perfect way for me to hit pause and reflect on the past month and set goals and intentions for the next month. Floating at FLOAT STL has become one of the best tools in me self care tool kit. The entire experience from the moment you walk through the door and kick off your shoes is geared to help you relax and unwind. The waiting room at the Maryland Heights location is massive, bright and clean. There are quiet places to sit comfortably as you wait for your float. When I stopped by recently, Montel was working and was so helpful, offering drinks and making sure I knew all the in's and out's of the float I was about to take. Being a tall person, I always try to book one of the float rooms. While the pods are ample space, I love the ability to really not worry about being hitting the sides of during my float. The room is very private. I never feel uncomfortable when I prepare for my experience. The shower knob is a little confusing and it took me a moment to figure out how to get the water temp correct, but got it perfect quickly. The float room is perfect. I always ask to have it set a little cooler than normal because I easily get overheated. That is one thing I love about FLOAT STL, the experience is always customizable. Inside the float tank you can choose to have music play for the entire experience. You can choose to have lights on if you're uncomfortable with the dark. It's all about you getting the perfect experience. Personally I like the sensory deprivation aspect of FLOAT STL, so I always opt for no music and no light. Yes it takes about 10 minutes for my brain to riffle through to-do's and all the self doubt about doing something good for myself. But once I settle in and clear my head, the time spent in a FLOAT STL offers unparallelled relaxation. The warmth of the water slowly undulating over my body. The ability to relax every single muscle in my body because I'm suspended in water. I always fall asleep and wake up refreshed 90 minutes later. I cannot recommend FLOAT STL enough as a part of a self love regiment. read more

I was a bit nervous about being in a closed space. They assured me they have rooms and pods and I could choose which I felt most comfortable in- I chose the room. When I arrived they were very welcoming. The space itself is welcoming- the smell, the colors there was a tour and the teas to name a few awesome things. The float itself - words cannot express. It was being pain free, floating in nothing and totally at peace... this is insufficient but the only description I can come up with. I have a wound right now but as soon as it heals I am going back. I paid a visit to Float STL and specifically needed a chiropractic massage. As soon as you enter, you are welcomed by serenity and a peaceful atmosphere. What an amazing way to end a long work day! As I was saying, I was there to get a massage with Dr. David Wang. Dr. Wang runs "Wang's Health" within the walls of Float STL. Everything is tidy and clean. His massage room is very clean and has relaxing spa music to supplement your massage. He asked what areas I feel pain, soreness, or areas that need extra attention. Dr. Wang was a great listener and knows how to alleviate stress in the body. My trapezius muscles and my back were barking for a long time and just very sore from working out. After the massage, I felt like a new person, there was a pep in my step! Needless to say, if you are feeling stressed, need mental clarity, need a massage because you absolutely deserve it, you should check out Float STL and should hands down book a massage with Dr. Wang! It is a genuine peaceful experience from beginning to end. What to expect: You are greeted with a warm hello and an offer of tea or water. You take off your shoes and put them under a bench near the door. You are offered the bathroom before you go for your soak, as there is no toilet in the room. Believe me you should try and use it. You sit and relax for a few minutes and then they ask to take you back to where you made your reservations. You are given a "what to do" and "what will happen" before you get settled in. You are provided with earplugs, q-tips, towels, shampoo/conditioner/liquid soap, as you shower before and after the soak. Once you leave the room you can relax some more in a quiet dark room or you can get ready further with a blow dryer with other hair condiments in a room next to the door to the big lobby. Notes: I have been to a couple of places to float around town and I really like FLoat STL the most. They didn't just open a shop to capitalize on a new trend, they really are committed to creating a peaceful environment and relieving stress for everyone. I am not exaggerating when I say I have found every employee to be warm, welcoming and helpful to enjoy a peaceful spa environment. I have anxiety so going for a soak really helps relieve that stress. My preference are the room soaks as I am able to stretch out (carefully naturally) when or if I want to without touching the sides. The key is before the lights turn off to imagine your last vacation or that you are on vacation and are about to float in the ocean/pool under a cloudy night in the Tropics. That did it for me! I was back on Virgin Gorda, Bliss. You always notice when the owners and employees have a passion for what they do for a living. The are serious about their relaxation and I'm grateful they are. TLDR: Spa environment, use the bathroom anyways before you go back in the room, if you have a lot of stress especially from over saturation of technology this is great. My experience here was not bad in any way, I just didn't find it to be my method of relaxation. The instructions were clear and kindly delivered. I started my 60 min float and soon felt like I was in a jungle due to the high humidity. My boyfriend was smart enough to crack the door in his tank but I didn't think to do that. This experience was nothing short of glorious. The staff really goes above and beyond to make each person not only comfortable, but blissful in the soothing and aesthetically pleasing environment. I first heard about floating only last week and decided to give it a try a few days ago and I was not disappointed. At first I thought 90 minutes seemed like a long time to lay in a pool of salt water, effectively doing nothing, but the time was perfect and I would have been content to stay even longer! Luckily the creators of this space facilitate a relaxing and organic transition after the Float with the availability of their 'meditation room'. It's a quiet, softly lit room with a Moroccan theme equipped with a humidifier and incense. You are welcomed to relax on the soft cushions and soak in the serenity as long as you please. From the moment you enter the lobby, the staff greets you, offering you a cup of cool water or freshly steeped hot herbal tea. I, myself, and several other guests lounged in the peaceful lobby sipping tea and chatting with the staff about what to expect (or not expect) from our upcoming floating experience. We were given a tour of the facility and got to explore the different Float rooms and pods. I chose to float in a pod, so I was shown to my private room (all float areas are private, ensuring each guest's solitude) equipped with a shower and my pod. I got to customize the lighting color in my pod and soft music that faded with the lighting after several minutes ushered me into my tranquil session. The water was literally the perfect temperature, allowing a totally seamless transition as I stepped into it and laid back. The fresh salt water made my body feel weightless, but it felt totally natural and I actually fell asleep for some time! It turns out that a lot of people fall asleep given that it requires no effort to keep one's head above water. After my Float, I felt rejuvenated in a way that I haven't felt before and the effect has carried on in the two days since. I booked 3 more floats right away and am looking forward to my next session. I HIGHLY recommend this experience to anyone seeking a pause from their routine, whether you suffer from chronic pain, stress, anxiety, fatigue, or just want to pamper yourself and your body-this is an enjoyable and EASY way to unwind. read more

Website prepares you well for what to expect and answers common questions. I was a little skeptical at first. I've heard a lot of great things about this place but to experience it myself...all I can say is wow! From the moment I walked through the door it was a calming environment. I was greeted right away and was told to take off my shoes and relax. There were several different places to sit, each with a side table and a book. I found my spot and was asked if I would like hot tea or water. When it was my turn to go back, I was shown the pod and the other one. He explained everything I needed to know to get going. When I stepped into my float tank, I laid back, hit the button, and the soft music started and the light started to dim. Within a few minutes, I was floating in complete darkness and complete silence. It's hard for me to turn my brain off but I did and I actually fell asleep. I woke up and wondered how long I was out and fell back asleep. When it was over, the music (faintly) started and got a bit louder and the light came on very dim and then back to how it all started. I felt amazing! I got out and took my shower. I love that they have they room where you can dry your hair before you go. They also have a small and dimly lit room where you can hang out if you'd like. I would like to do that next time. I can't wait to go back! I think I may try the pod next time. I had never tried something like this before. This was the first time and as soon as you walk in you just feel this calming feeling. It is not an office. It feels more like a sanctuary where you can just relax. They offer you tea or water and you take off your shoes right away. The tech who worked there was so nice and explained everything. He asked if you have questions and answered everything. They do not try to push you out when your float is over. They let you stay as long as you need in order to be rejuvenated. I told Montel about it and he told me that a previous floater had let the shower on and had run it out of hot water. No worries as there would be hot water after float. Floating itself was amazing. They do an excellent job from the moment you walk in all the way until you leave at making you feel extremely comfortable (and I'm an extremely tense & high strung person so that says a lot haha)! I had a wonderful experience at Float Stl today. I was excited and a bit anxious going into my first float, but the staff was very welcoming and answered all of my questions. The ambiance is relaxing as soon as you walk in. I did my Float in one of the rooms instead of the pod and loved the extra space, as I thought a pod would be too confining. After the first 10-15 minutes I was able to truly relax and enjoy the quiet, pitch black room. I cannot wait to return for another Float in the near future. read more

I'm leaving this review of float STL admittedly after my first float ever. I wasn't sure what to expect, but had talked to people who had floated before both in St. Louis and around the country and walked into my experience with a a decent understanding of what the expectation should be. I also circled back with those people after my float to ensure that my experience was in fact out of line with theirs. Initial impression, pulling into the parking lot is that not a lot of care was taken with the lot as some pipe-hole in one spot was not covered and the covering for the hole was in the parking spot so trying to dodge that piece of metal while trying to maneuver into their very small parking spots was a challenge. The only other available viable spot (that someone had not haphazardly pulled into at an angle) had a traffic cone or post or something in it-not for any purpose, it was just laying down in the spot. So I did my best to maneuver around the open pipe and the covering keeping my fingers crossed that I would not have a hole in my tire when I returned. Thankfully I did not. Impression upon walking in to the business is that it was meant to be a relaxing space-appeared that a lot of attention was placed on the decor. I did not want any tea or water when greeted by the gentleman at the desk, so he instructed me to leave my shoes at the front and follow him back to the room that I had chosen. He pointed out different landmarks in the building along the way and took great care to let me know that Dr. so-and-so had his office right here, as if I was supposed to impressed. When I clearly didn't know who this person was the gentleman seemed very put off by that. I'm assuming because it was supposed to be an upsell of some sort. What I did notice, is that an odor, and not necessarily a good one became more and more evident the further back in the building that we got, and it appeared to get very strong the closer we got to the rooms with the water. It was not a sewer smell, but it was the furthest thing from a clean smell that I would have expected. The room, when I arrived appeared clean so I thought maybe I was overthinking the smell and proceeded with the float. I was instructed to use the "body wash" before I got into the room for my float and I made an attempt, however the body wash only came out at maybe a pea sized amount and would only give me one drop. So I did the best with what I had. Getting into the float room was as expected, but I could not close the door because of the smell. Perhaps the sensory deprivation of low lights and no sound made heightened awareness of the odor, but I could not float longer than 30 minutes because I started getting so nauseous that I thought I was going to vomit. At that point I was rushing to get out of there, wanted to wash my hair and body again because of the salt and yet again on all three liquids, conditioner, shampoo, body wash I was unable to get more than a pea sized amount from the dispenser. So I gave up, rinsed off as best I could, and went to the "powder room" to put in contact lenses. Of note, the powder room has no running water, so if you are looking to wash your hands prior to putting in contacts after soaking in salt water, no dice. I made due and got out of there. The woman at the desk when I left did not appear concerned that I had entered my float early and did not ask how anything was. Immediately upon leaving I called an acquaintance who had previously floated elsewhere and they confirmed that my experience was not what they had experienced. I definitely will not be back and I am pretty sure that was my first and last float. read more
