If you're in Austin and haven't been to Farmand's Kitchen yet, you're missing out. This place is…read moresuch a gem. It's family-owned, warm, and genuinely welcoming in a way that feels increasingly rare. From the moment you walk in, you can tell they care deeply about both the food and the people they're serving. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can taste the quality in every bite -- nothing feels rushed or phoned in. The portions are generous without being over the top, and everything we've tried has been full of authentic flavor and perfectly seasoned. It's the kind of meal where you're already planning what you'll order next time before you've even finished. And Gio? Truly outstanding. He strikes that perfect balance of attentive without hovering. He knows the menu inside and out, offers thoughtful recommendations, and makes you feel genuinely taken care of. You can tell he takes pride in what he does -- he's warm, personable, and elevates the entire experience. Service like that makes a difference, and Gio absolutely delivers. What really sets Farmand's apart is that combination of incredible food and heartfelt hospitality. Austin has no shortage of great restaurants, but Farmand's Kitchen stands out because it feels personal and intentional every single time. It's one of those places we recommend immediately when someone asks where they should eat -- and we'll absolutely keep coming back.

We didn't see a server for about 15 minutes and only a few people were in the restaurant. It was Noon on Friday... Hmmmm... BUT!!!!... once our pretty server got to us she was great. I was excited about the redfish sandwich, but for $22 it was very bland with hardly any seasonings or flavor. When you have to add salt and pepper that's not good. My friend had the scampi and that was better. That sourdough was awesome but it didn't need the butter spread.. because you could just sop up the scampi butter. I think over time this restaurant will do better.

Located off Anderson Mill in the corner of a strip mall is a bookshelf with a door on the right side. If you cannot figure out the entrance, there is a doorbell to ring as well. I believe it is owned by the same people who own The Mill bar right next door, which makes it feel like a cool bonus space. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. Three of us had arrived earlier and ordered already and our server came by to greet us two and take our drink order right away if we were ready. We were not so she gave us some time and came back. Throughout the night, she checked on us. At the end of the night, she offered to split all our checks and remembered everyone's orders and how to to accurately split the drinks. Each lady paid for an appetizer. The appetizers were all very good though I would say there are limited gluten free options. The girls shared the Tempura Cauliflower. It looked really good and apparently was also delicious but unfortunately not gluten free. The Charcuterie Board with cheese, salami, pepperoni, and smoked salmon was yummy, as were the brussel sprouts and chicken kabobs. The server said the marinade was not gluten free but I decided to eat it anyways. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well. I really liked the brussel sprouts too. The Dirty Martinis and Paper Plane were great. My friend had the Cucumber cocktail but opted for soda water instead of Sprite and she said it was really good. It looked pretty. The restaurant offers a nice vibe for hanging out and has a great selection of cocktails, wines, and food. I didn't get a chance to try an entree but I'm sure they are good. We had the best server so I'd say this place is a winner.

My friend had the ribeye and salad. Both dish amazing. The service was fantastic. Our server did an amazing job. She was on point. The place got packed for a Thursday night. The music was chill. I will most definitely come back again to try something else. If you have a birthday come here. You will see why. Its a great experience.

The majority of the property is covered by an expansive patio area, perfect for groups. They have a number of large tables, small tables and even chaise lounge chairs - whatever makes you comfortable! We arrived later in the night just as the live band was wrapping up but there were many of people out back watching the World Cup game. In terms of drinks, I got the skinny rabbit margarita and it was fantastic. It far exceeded my (admittedly, low) expectations. It had a mint accent which was delicious, and combined with a tajin rim, the perfect summer drink. Don't worry, if you don't like mint, they will happily leave it out. My friends got an espresso martini, customized without baileys or dairy, and enjoyed it for a bar that doesn't seem like they would even have espresso martinis. One odd note that I did notice is that the handwashing sink for the restrooms is outside of the restroom and around the corner both inside and outside. At first I thought that they did not have handwashing sinks and was confused but noticed them once I left. Hopefully people remember to do this when they leave!!

The food was genuinely excellent, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. The bed was also a standout -- more comfortable than what I've experienced at most four-star hotels. I also loved the in-room Nespresso machine, which was a great touch. The only drawbacks are the location and setting. It's not ideal if you want to be close to a more metropolitan, walkable area, and being right on the creek means there can be quite a few bugs, especially in the evening. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a relaxing, stylish getaway with great food and very comfortable rooms.

This charming, quaint boutique hotel is located in a residential neighborhood in Round Rock, TX. The Ruby Hotel & Bar is situated along Brushy Creek in historic downtown Round Rock. The hotel has 39 uniquely designed rooms and suites, in the suburbs of Austin, TX. The hotel blends mid-century modern design with natural surroundings, creating a chic vibe. The property is distinctly divided into to major buildings...the hotel and the bar. There is a random small building up front also...not sure what that buildings for. There is also outdoor seating, which would be pleasant in the summer. Last night we had freezing temperatures, so sub-optimal for seating outside. When we entered the bar, we felt transported to another place in time. Retro looking furniture at the entry with finger dialed phones...my nieces and nephews would likely not have any idea what these little machines called telephones were. The bar was a mix of old - building built in the 1960s....new - modern mirrors and bar. There was signage at the front of the bar that stated to seat yourself and place your order from the bar (different set up...for sure). We ordered the hummus plate minus pita bread plus more cucumbers. Alan, our server was very accommodating to make that switch. We had herbal hot tea (chamomile and pomegranate berry). We listened to the 3 person band, who sang music from Johnny Cash to Bob Marley and so many different genres in between. What a lovely evening...date night score!
