Downtowne Bookstore is in Riverside. It is the nicest bookstore with a huge selection of books and…read moresome gifts. They have new and used books and have it all from history to novels. It is family owned and a true independent book store. The owner is wonderful and the staff is just great. They have good prices and I bet they have what you want. It is clean and well organized and if you need help, they will help you. They pretty much know everything they have. If they don't have a book you want they will order it for you.

Parking is available across the street near the goodwill or if you can get a spot on the street. We came in and there were piles of books next to the bookshelves. The sections aren't completely labeled, but if you read enough, you can see what category the bookkeeper has placed the books in. There isn't a certain order (alphabetically or anything). You go in and you peruse what is available . The bookseller is also hanging out in the front and will let you look at the front room or the back room. We saw the children's section, science, graphic novels, AAPI, and fantasy. Their romance was scattered around the store. I did end up leaving with a book purchase. I will say it's hard to look at everything because the lights were also flickering, although there is sunlight coming in. It was quite overwhelming to look at books. Overall the prices were cheaper than a bookstore chain. It's very nice to see these stores still operating. I'd choose this over a chain any day.

Gene Berkman and Jayne Hanson clearly care about their customers and have a genuine passion for books. Their knowledge, friendliness, and willingness to help make this shop a true gem in Riverside. An assortment of home decor items and clothing accessories, a wall of books, some clothing racks in the middle. That's pretty much it. That all being said...everything available is very carefully curated and shockingly clean by Goodwill standards. The shelves and books are all color-coordinated, and pretty much everything seems to be in very decent condition. It feels more like a small secondhand boutique than a Goodwill, to be honest. Given the size of the space, I actually appreciate that it's laid out this way. It's easier to find things, and the things that I find are usually of higher quality. If you are trying to make a donation...I, personally, would not do it at this particular location. The thing I like about making donations to most Goodwill stores is the ease of it. I like being able to pull my car up to the side of the building and have an employee take the items without too much fuss. From all of the negative reviews on here, it seems like that isn't really how donations go down at this Goodwill store. I would actually recommend the Colton Avenue location in Redlands for anyone looking to make donations in the area, as that seems to be a store with a more standard donation set-up.

Mostly she turns away a ton of things that she deems are not good enough or I guess against their policies-whatever!? Don't come here if you have the slightest bit of sentimental attachment to things you are giving away, because there's no thanks at all, no smiles, no casual pleasantries, no gratitude for what you are giving away. Nada-just cold rudeness. You have to ask for a receipt and then she's really bothered about the effort that takes to give you one. The store is super small and it looks like it's been professionally picked over of anything worth purchasing. Such a shame. I will never ever donate another thing to this location of Goodwill on Palm and Cajon Street in Redlands. Wish I could give ZERO STARS. Bargain Book World has gently used books (no new ones), CDs, bookmarks, and some little novelty…read moreitems. For nearly 7 years, they're located on the bottom floor next to Macy's men's store. The staff chat with each other and allow you to roam. You can donate or sell an acceptable book (pretty good shape) to them for 20¢ credit. I would advise to get lost in the different sections. Around every corner, I found a book I assumed was a different genre. Most books are in author's last name order but not always.

The store is well thought out and very inviting to adults and children alike! There is a great selection of books for kids and adults, book merch, and so much more~! So this huge Baptist church has a full-on independent coffeehouse. No skimping-- teas, mochas, lattes, chai, blended drinks, the whole shebang. They'll even bake you a little pizza or toast a bagel, and they have some candy too (for people to munch on during services??) There's also a decent collection of Christian books and gifts, but the guy behind the counter said that was going away soon; they're remodeling to make it a proper coffeehouse. Hopefully they'll expand their hours a bit; I'd love an alternative to chain coffeehouses.
