I've built and remodeled plenty of homes, but since 2012 I've had a nice break. Now a major remodeling project has come up with two bathrooms, a kitchen and 1500 sq ft of flooring in the home's main area. Yikes. Our contractor sent us to Floor & Decor and I felt like a deer in the headlights when I walked into this HUGE place. As my head was spinning I saw a sign saying they offer complimentary design services. That's when we met designer Debra Margerison who quickly turned our visit into a total success. Debra answered all our questions while guiding us through the store's broad selections of natural stone, porcelain tile, granite and wood countertops. She also contributed valuable info and ideas about pricing, installation and practicality for our job. Prices are very competitive with a number of travertine choices for less than $3 sq ft, and attractive porcelain for under $1. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. Despite always being extremely busy and getting pulled in multiple directions at the same time, Sam is an awesome salesperson to deal with at this location! I was in a pinch after our installer gave us an incorrect amount of T-molding. Unfortunately the store had no additional inventory. Without asking, Sam said he would drive to the St. Pete store, the closest with the molding in stock, to pick them up for me. To say he goes above and beyond for the customer is an understatement! read more

I have samples at home and have tried calling them all day to place an order, but no one picks up. Very annoying.

Floor&Decor is the single worst experience with a retailer that I have ever had. My wife and I found engineered tongue in groove wood flooring that she loved for our stairs. When inquiring about the stair nose sections, their computer system shows a stair nose that is overlapping (a variation used on laminate) instead of the flush, solid wood stair nose it should have. They also list it at $99 per 78", TWICE the price of any other stair nose, even the stair nose for more expensive flooring is only $53 per 78", so there is an obvious error that should be easy to correct. First, the sales associate could not figure out if they even had the right stair nose I needed so i could place an order. The next day, I called their 1-800 line (they are a national retailer with over 70 stores) and they were even less helpful. The person I spoke with insisted the overlapping was the right product (it is not, as I have verified with numerous contractors) and that "the price is the price", when I pointed out it was an obvious mistake. She just did not care to research nor, correct the problem. The next day, Debra from the design center calls to ask about the samples we purchased and leaves a message to contact her. I thought sure, that is nice, and maybe she can help. I called the store and she was out to lunch. I called back and the woman that answered said, "Sure, she's right here, just a moment", and placed me on hold. 35 minutes later, I was still on hold, so I hung up and called the store back. "Oh, she's gone for the day", said the woman who answered. The next day, I called again and after some more time spent on hold, Debra finally answers and takes down my info. She tells me that she will research this and call me back. Three hours later, I called her back and she is at lunch again. This is Friday at 3 p.m. and I need to wrap this up and place an order before the weekend, so I called the store again to ask for the manager and the woman who answered said, "Debra is right here", and puts her on the phone. Debra tells me she has been busy and has not had time to work my issue. I asked her who the manager is and she said, "Dan. He's right here, do you want to speak with him?", and I say, "yes please." She puts me on hold again. After 15 more minutes of hold time waiting for Dan to pick up (who is "right there" remember), I finally hung up and texted my wife that she will not get the flooring she loved. I will try to find it elsewhere. I cannot fully express how horribly incompetent these people are. Stay far, far away from this place. read more

I am upgrading my bathroom and was not sure what I wanted. Cameron Simpson was an amazing consultant. She listened carefully to my comments and helped me pick the perfect floor and wall tile. When I returned to pick grout she and Michael Goose worked to find the perfect color. I cannot say enough about their patience, expertise and advice. The prices and selections are outstanding. I can't thank Sam enough for helping us with our tile purchase! After deciding on a tile for our project, we found out there wasn't enough stock at this store. Sam started reaching out to other store to check inventory and arrange shipment. His patience and attention to details for example checking the lot number which can effect the dye color and caliber of the tile (which I later found out was very important to keep a consistent look for the tile) was amazing! Beyond that, he followed up the next business day with the other store to make sure they received and processed the order! Thank you so much for making this process so much easier for us! read more

This location has a great store with a wide selection of product. The staff out on the floor is always friendly and willing to assist! However, throughout my many visits while renovating my home... I consistently get team members at the cash register that are rude, aren't willing to look up product or don't know how, and end up turning an overall pleasant shopping experience into a frustrating one. Quite frankly, the cashiers are the last line of defense when it comes to customer experience at their store... you would think they'd be happy to take my money and send me on my way but apparently not. Instead they act like they ate a shit sandwich before clocking in, and you leave feeling as though the hundreds of dollars just spent was an inconvenience to them as they check you out. I continue to use this store for their great selection and friendly floor staff, but if there's a accessory product I can buy at a Home Depot or Lowes, I absolutely will just to avoid the cashiers. read more

I was told by one associate that I could exchange chipped sheets of tile and the other associate/manager was adamant that I could not open a box and look for the sheets I wanted. The return policy needs to be spelled out better ,at all locations, maybe even printed along with receipts for clarification. If I buy a box of tile, and some have chips or stains and they cost $17 a piece, I should be able to switch them out. I was told, thats how they are. I do not consider this to be a valid explanation. If I expected every sheet to have an imperfection like a stain or chip, then why would I pay $17 each? I might email the website directly. Update: Joseph the store manager in Sarasota contacted me and told me I could come back in to exchange the sheets. I realized most are not perfect but appreciated being able to exchange some with more yellow stains and defects. I will definitely consider using floor and decor in the future read more

First off my husband who is a professional contractor. Purchased wall tiles brand which is Rock Ridge ledger sku# 100568948 . This brand sucks, And so does the store! First of all the tiles were broken, miss aligned, they were all different sizes, and had bird shit on them! My husband had to go back 3 times to buy more. Because the job was already started and glued to the wall. All of this was during the pandemic. So order online, talk to someone in the office to be sure it's in the store and to have someone check each box to be sure they are not broken ! Office person says yes everything is good all checked! So he drives there 1/2 hour. Pick up the 12 boxes. Come home a few boxes looked good . But as he gets going they are all the same as the boxes he already has. So he did this 3 more times! So after all the problems of cutting and fixing the tiles that were somewhat usable took a week. This job if everything was made correctly shouldn't have taken more than 2 days! Today he called the office to be sure he could make a return to get his thousands of dollars refunded. She says "YES NO PROBLEM " just come in! He loads up the truck with 35 boxes (50lbs) each. Gets there and they are telling him they are not taking things back! Really? So he had to argue with the manager. Well they did finally take them back but I doubt they will be sent back to the factory. I'll bet they resell them beware! read more

After going to all the HD and Lowe's in Venice as well as several other places, I found exactly what I wanted all in once place. The staff were attentive and helpful. The ordering online was a piece of cake (Don't forget to put the NAME of the installer picking up your tile!!!) The floor is down, grouted and I am beyond thrilled beyond belief. Once company gave me an estimate of over $4k and this came in around $1k. Never going any where else ever again. read more

I will never use this company again. We ordered floors to be delivered to our new home in GA. No floors arrived, however our credit card was charged over $3000. Apparently, the order was cancelled without a phone call or email notifying us. We completely understand mistakes but no apology or assistance in this matter was given to us. Great Return policy, which was good because the Stone selection was inconsistent throughout order. We had to review every single floor marble piece before installation (with approx 50% rejection rate). Checkout & Pickup process was time consuming. Good prices, inconsistent selection. read more

I purchased tile for a bathroom reno. We had never done a high end tile install, and were using glass tile, which we had never used. EVERYONE we encountered on the 5 visits was extremely helpful. It took a while to decide on everything, but we were very pleased with the final look. They recommended the best grout, thinset, trim, and installation ideas. They also accept returns on any unused tile. We didn't have any, because they calculated it perfectly for us when we brought in our measurements. They have great choices, and are a NO PRESSURE store, but someone is always available to help if you have questions. I'm going back today for our next bathroom reno!! read more

We went to Floor and Decor last week to check out materials for our bathroom remodel. The place is HUGE. If you can't find what you are looking for there, it doesn't exist, the prices are fair and products range from basic to most elegant and upscale, we had particular help from Cruz, a warehouse employee whom we happened to encounter on his way back to the warehouse, he spent time with us to help us find what we were looking for, and then called In the troops when we couldn't locate the exact tile we needed. We also had the good fortune to work with Cal, the floor manager. He explained all the intricacies of vinyl flooring, steering us back to the right section when we wandered into uncharted territory. All in all, every employee we encountered was helpful, polite and cheerful. Looking forward to making our selections and seeing the beautiful tiles in place. read more

I am updating this review. The original version appears below. After I posted my original review (and emailed it Floor and Decor), I got a phone call from the manager of the Sarasota store. I think he sincerely wanted to make things right, and so after verifying that we were still interested in receiving the flooring, he promised that he would make sure that we did. He did follow through and the next day, I was able to pick up the flooring from the store. He also gave me a substantial rebate on the flooring, which I shared with my installer. The floor is now installed and I am very happy with the final result, if not with the hassle that it took to get to this point. I am not changing my original rating (and to their credit, they did not ask me to), but I did want to give to acknowledge that they made a real effort to make things right. Hopefully, this was an aberration and other customers will not experience something similar. ===================================== Original post: I am having a dreadful experience with the Sarasota Floor & Decor. About three weeks ago, I placed an order for some high quality laminate flooring. They had to special-order it, since they only seem to stock cheap stuff. They told me it would arrive in ten days and based on that promise, I scheduled the installation for a few days later. Two days before the promised arrival date I called to make sure they were still expecting to get the flooring on time. I was told that there was no problem, and that it could be picked up in two days. My installer went to pick it up on the morning he was going to start the job and was told it hadn't arrived. He still came to my house to do prep work and some unrelated tile work, but he could not start on the the laminate flooring installation. I called them to find out what was going on and they told me that it was being shipped from the port of Miami and would arrive overnight. So, it could be picked up the next morning, first thing. Based on that promise, the installer went by the store the next morning and once again was told it had not arrived. Ever since, I have been calling them several times a day and getting a total run-around. The sales associate always promises to call me back or send an email but she never follows up. When I call her, she never seems to know anything about where my order is and appears to be totally incapable of actually getting anything done. She has forwarded me a chain of emails sent among five or six other people, that shows a certain amount of activity, but contains no useful information whatsoever. Rather, the emails reveal an organization where nobody knows what's going on, and nobody is responsible for anything. All-in-all, it comes across as a completely mismanaged organization. If you are prepared to use the second-rate products they keep in stock, then you may find them satisfactory. But if you need anything that they do not keep in stock, my advice is to stay away from this slipshod operation. read more

Well, the experience started out ok. Our sales person Janet was very helpful. She walked us through flooring options for our home and we were able to find a bamboo flooring that met our needs. Then, the first problem happened. We were a few boxes short with the instock flooring versus what we needed to complete the job. Janet checked stock at another location and found they had stock. She asked the manager (Tammy) to allow her to ship the stock so they had enough for our project. Tammy said no - she wanted us to drive and pick it up or pay for the shipping. We almost walked away at that point, but Janet was able to work things out and get us what we needed. We attended the install class offered by Floor & Decor. The class walked us through the installation techniques and had us put sample pieces together. The instructor was nice and answered all our questions. We acclimated the flooring using the jenga pattern for almost a month in a climate controlled full time residence, not a season. Then, we installed the flooring using all the recommended underlay for the flooring. This was underlay that Floor & Decor recommended and we purchased from them. We followed every step that the instructor told us. The floor looked great for about 5 months. Then we noticed that the bamboo was cupping on the edges. We went back to Janet. Janet wasn't able to help with the warranty issue, but put us back in touch with Tammy the manager. Tammy told us that we should have had a water test on the floor where the flooring was to be installed. We explained to her that we purchased the flooring and underlay from Floor & Decor and attended their class for installation. Tammy said without the water test prior to install the warranty would be null and void since a manufacturer's defect could not be proven to be the cause. Tammy said Floor and Decor doesn't get involved in the warranty process. She said it's like going to Walmart, you don't go back to them for a warranty problem with something you purchased there. Well, for the record you can and they will refund your money. Then, in the middle of the conversation, she TOOK A PHONE CALL. Let me put this in perspective, she didn't say "excuse me, I just need to grab this real quick" she just picked up the phone right in the middle of our conversation and started talking to someone else and turned her back on us. We turned around and walked out. After she got done with her call, she started calling to us. We told her we're not dealing with you because you were incredibly rude to us. As we were walking out the door, we said to the employees at the door that we were very mad and she was extremely rude. The employees said, yeah we were afraid to have you talk to her. WE WALKED OUT AND WILL NEVER PURCHASE HERE AGAIN. Here's our summary of our experience: 1) Bought $4,000 worth of flooring 2) Took the Floor and Decor install class, during which no one ever said anything about a water test. For the record, Janet didn't recommend that either. 3) Installed the floor. It lasted about 5 months. 4) Treated rudely by Tammy who basically told us 'you're screwed because you didn't do the water test and you're wasting my time' since she took a call while supposedly helping us. So, $4,000 down the drain . . . lesson learned. read more

Their prices compare with Lowes and Home Depot. The staff was very helpful and returns were a breeze. I went through their subdivision "Installation Made Easy" to find an installer. I had tried finding my own to no avail. The installer did a great quick job,but I feel the price for installation was on the high side, so first try and see if you can find an installer on your own. read more

Easy shopping experience and great flooring & tile options My husband and I build a few houses a year (with a contractor) but we like to pick everything out ourselves. We had visited with a few much more expensive tile stores and actually purchased our tile/flooring there a few times before someone told us about Floor and Decor. I love the selection and the pricing are incredible! Like, literally 1/2 the price and they have SO much in stock. It is a busy place and can get overwhelming so make sure you have time to shop and possibly wait for an associate. It is worth it! We also LOVE the super easy return policy. Bring anything back and just hand them the card you purchased it with and - bam - it's back on your card. Try that at a "designer" tile shop. It would never happen and you'd be stuck with all of your excess tile/flooring. This was a great asset when wanting to "test out" a few different options with sample pieces before committing. We will continue to shop here moving forward as it has always been a positive experience. read more

Worst customer service ever! I have shopped here multiple times and have never experienced the store this way. After waiting for a long period of time with no one to assist me with making a purchase I finally was approached by a very nice gentleman man that helped me with my selections. During conversations with him I learned the store was short staffed due to sales being DOWN and hours being cut. Well imagine that. Sales down because customers are more than likely walking out with no help. Shame on Sal corporate office for allowing this. I think Sal needs to be on the next flight back to where he came from. My husband and I went to Floor & Decor to find laminate hardwood for three bedrooms and 4 connecting closets. Due to last one week completely wasted time at HD, unable to get any clear answers with products and installation. We were left with only two weeks to find the color/style we were looking for. The hardest part was finding the tile for the lanai (connected to the master bedroom ) that would blend in with the bedroom hardwood hues. I just wanted to thank Sean for being so patient and helping us through the process. Sean had so much knowledge and information about all the material available instore for a quick delivery. I was so impressed with his demeanor, I asked how old he was... 23! Wow! As we were looking for matching hues, Sean carried each planks of wood and compared it with the selections of tile to see if it would work. We ended up doing this about 4-5 times with different selections, but Sean was persistent and encouraged us with his ides. Sean is definitely a five star employee, a very positive young man with great insight and knowledge of his trade. We will definitely come back for any new renovation projects. read more

My husband and I were so impressed with the choices, with the prices and most of all with the professional, pleasant and not in the least bit pushy of sales assistant Allan Heaggans. He spent a lot of time and he was very patient with us as we couldn't decide between wood or porcelain for our floors. In the end we chose stone because we thought that would be the best upgrade for our home and it was less expensive than both the wood and the porcelain and I am so glad that we did and I cannot wait for it to be installed. We first went to floor and decor on Saturday because the site said it was open on Saturday but when we got there it was only open for curbside pickup. When I got out of the car to ask the man a question about hours, he yelled at me and told me to get back in my car and go to the end of the line. I went back a few days later after work. I am remodeling my bathroom and don't know a lot about tile. I asked a staff person, Tammy a question about tile and her response was "I could pull up a 1000 types of tile for you. You just need to go around the store." When I asked about stone vs porcelain for use in the shower, she replied "you can't compare them. They are like diamonds and cubic zirconium, one is man made and the other is not." I said I know the difference between diamond and cubic zirconium, I am trying to find out what is best to use in the shower." I asked her if there was a smaller size tile like the tile I liked and she said if there was a smaller size it would be right next to it." Then she told me that they weren't supposed to stay with the customer in the store and that if I needed help I should make a design appointment. What is her job? to walk around the store and belittle people? Every answer was demeaning. I work every day and don't have time to keep coming back to the same store. That was the most painful experience I have ever had in a store. I will not be buying my tile there unless I have to. I work with patients every day and would never treat people like she does. While she was belittling me, I overheard a customer thank the staff person named Doug for his help. I guess I got the wrong person. read more

We saved and bought 90 boxes of tile for our new flooring. The sales lady at the store told us it was the same lot, we checked both pallets when delivered and they all had the same lot number. When the floor was laid, it was obvious half the tile had been defective. Half was shiny, half was dull. We went to the Fort myers store and was told it was defective, but had to get a certified tile expert to say so, even though the picture told the tale of the floor. They do not send people out to inspect their own product. I was spoken to rudely at the store. We asked how to find a tile expert and they said they couldn't help us. We were told how great their business was, but are saddened they do not stand by their product unless we jump through hoops and spend more money to prove it independently. We saved for this floor and it looked terrible. Friends who have seen this don't believe what we have to go through and the extra money we would have to spend to try to correct this situation. This morning we are returning $800 of vinyl flooring so we can spend $750 on a certified tile expert to verify the tile was defective. I tried sending a message on their website, but that didn't work either. Bad flooring and bad experience. read more

We purchased laminate flooring and it was great. The problem was the installation. If you use their installer you will probably not be happy. They quote you a price for installation then come the add ons when they take the carpet out. They said our sub floor was not good enough for the install. The floor had to be fixed. This added another $2000 to the cost of installation. If I didn't allow it then my warranty was no good. Unless I have my own installer I will not buy from Floor and Decor again. read more

I ordered tile to be shipped on a Friday for a long weekend job for a client. Friday comes around, nothing. I called Floor & Decor several times, they gave me a run around. Finally, they gave me the phone number of the third-party shipping company for me to call for status. I called the shipping company, they have no records of my order. I called back to Floor & Decor, they put me on hold for a long time. I finally drove over to their store and fines out they never put my shipment in for $3500 worth of tile which I have paid in full. Yes, they have tile in stock, but seem to cannot get them shipped. I was in the store 3 times, seems like no one wants to do anything or help each other to service customers. You are in a service business, get it right! I guess they can keep their tile, because I lost a lot of money on this job with guys lined up. You screwed me up big time Floor & Decor!!! read more
