As an out of town owner, I have had a chance to spend more time at this property since I originally…read moreposted my review, and unfortunately, the floor shows quite a few problems. At first, we were just happy that the floor was now a matte finish, and a darker color than originally, which was high gloss, honey color. The dark matte color actually looked kind-of good (e.g., 'not terrible'). I was happy with my low-gloss color choice. I also liked the dark color on the stair rail, as it was also much better than the original orangey-honey color. However-- There are several areas of the floor that simply were not stained (e.g., behind sink, behind toilet, corners around stairs, corners of rooms), presumably because the sander could not fit into those spaces, and it doesn't appear to have been hand sanded. Bevels remain (the floorboards were not sanded flat) and so the original color remains in these bevels, like orange stripes down the wood planks. These issues, along with what appears to be dried coffee in corners of rooms, on top of the original honey color, and the original trim and transition strips left the original color, have made for a poorly completely project that went way past the estimated completion date.

My floor was painted black and they sanded off all the old paint. We had the floor stained Jacobean…read moreand we loved it. We definitely like seeing the wood grain through the color. The pictures don't do it justice. We enjoyed working with Chad. He was very friendly and informative.

Pros: The onsite supervisor or foreman Brent is a creative, knowledgeable flexible carpenter…read moreand his crew did quality work on the addition ... for the most part. Great Team Leader! The addition, including the guest bathroom and kitchen remodeling turned out very nice. The "Top Notch" crew was friendly, courteous, flexible and respectful. Although not included in our plans, they did not hesitate to complete additional customizations and the windows are quality windows. Great Crew! We requested and the owner Richard facilitated access to before photos after work was completed. Cons: Although our plans included flooring and a kitchen countertop, we were surprised to learn when it came time for those items to be ordered/installed, these items were not included in the C and C Contracting quotes/bids and no allowance/budget was made for these items. We had to purchase all flooring and countertop materials ourselves, among other items. Coordination seemed lackadaisical. Once this project got started, we routinely seemed to encounter coordination roadblocks with the C and C Contracting subcontractors; and usually beyond our control although we remained on location and accessible throughout this project. Some of these subcontractors seem to have regular Monday - Friday jobs and only available for weekend side job work on our project. At times, we felt like we were low priority and placed on the backburner. Of note is the last statement on the C and C Contracting Services, LLC Webpage. This statement includes the words "We will stand behind the installation of the work for a full year." We were surprised again to learn that this statement has no legal basis and is a typical marketing statement that means nothing legally as it relates to any sort of warrantee/guarantee. No warrantee is stated, implied or given. Most of our issues relate to after the project was 99% completed. Initially, our interactions Richard were responsive, clear and friendly.; C and C Contracting could do anything. This project culminated with the signing of the final check in March. On this day, Richard was adamant about it not reasonable to hold up this final check for a few remaining items/issues that we had identified. Richard also said that there would be no problem for C and C Contracting to return and address any issues. Richard gave us a lot of "I promise you" and "trust me." In fact, Brent had phoned and set up a return/follow-up visit for within two weeks to address any "loose ends." Brent had also told us to wait a day or so before using the master bath. This was the last area they worked on and some things still needed time to dry/cure. When we did use the master bath for the first time, we noticed a master bath tub/shower leak. I phoned Brent and told him about this leak, anticipating this would be addressed on the already scheduled return/follow-up visit. The visit never materialized. Our records show our many contact attempts as Brent became unresponsive and Richard seem to ignore/disregard our communications. Appointments were requested, scheduled and rescheduled to address this and other issues but these appointments were ignored, changed or rescheduled, usually without any notification. Despite providing Richard a detailed list of issues, it has been six months since that final check was authorized and our master bath leak was conveyed to Brent; and we still have not seen anyone from C and C Contracting to address any of our issues. Needless to say, based on the above, we are not happy customers and we would not recommend C and C to any potential customers/consumers. BEWARE!

We are thrilled with the hardwood floor refinishing work done by Kevin Smith Flooring. Randall and…read moreMickey were professional, respectful of our home and easy to work with. Our floors are engineered pecan. The actual wood measures about a quarter inch. Because of this, the work was challenging. Randall explained his entire process to us before the work began. He and Mickey paid attention to every detail from start to finish. Plastic was put up around the sanding areas to limit the dust getting into other parts of the house. A special vacuum was used during the sanding process to keep the area as dust-free as possible. Then the floors were coated twice with a low luster, water-based product and we love the finish better than the shiny floor we had prior. The finished floors are beautiful and make the whole house look like new. I highly recommend Kevin Smith Flooring to refinish your hardwood floors. One of the reasons we chose this company is because floors are all they do. They are knowledgeable about everything hardwood floors. Their work is high quality with reasonable pricing. Randall goes over and above to please the customer. Pictures: All the flooring is going in the same direction. The pictures show the floors in different rooms/different angles. P.S. My location is Lititz, PA. Not sure why it's showing Providence, RI.
