Carpet Close-Out and Flooring has a great selection of floor samples. I was able to leave a $20 deposit and take 1/2 dozen samples home to ensure a good match for the existing flooring on the first floor of my townhouse. I worked closely with Robert and Ray to find an almost identical match. If you have a rent house or don't care as much about the aesthetic, they even offer what the manufacturer refers to as "seconds" at a deep discount, with very limited flaws that are difficult to see. All products have either a 25 or 30 year manufacturer's warranty, so you're not sacrificing quality. I believe that flooring started at $1.99 a square foot, but I decided to go with a higher end floor and selected an engineered hardwood hickory. While Carpet Close-Outs don't employ installers, they recommended an amazing crew led by Gonsalo. My landing is a little tricky as there is a curve on the bottom stair. The crew member nicknamed "Maestro" did a little carpentry and created a flawless base. He even had me come over and eye-ball the seam to ensure it was perfect. The crew worked tirelessly and quickly. They stopped once for lunch, then took turns taking a small break here and there, but the work never ceased. They were meticulous and cleaned up as they went along. We had one small issue where they ran out of stair nose to finish all the stairs. I'm guessing during estimating they didn't count the landing, so they were short materials on two stairs. Regardless, the crew worked around my busy schedule, showed up the next day and finished the last couple of stairs in less than an hour. They were super quick and really worked well as a team. I will hire this team again to do the floors in my next house. Highly recommend! read more

Ray is great! If I could give Ray more stars I would. Ray has a great selection to choose from. You can save money and get the best deals around or even order high-end flooring. Ray has more variety to choose from than what we found at big box stores and the fact he is local was a big plus for us. After we made our purchase, Ray sent his carpet installers out to install. The carpet installers did a really good job. They were polite and professional, more than I can say with my past experience with the big box stores. Bottom line, we spent about $3,500 on our carpet with Ray. That same carpet would have cost us over 7k from the big box stores. Plus, we were able to upgrade our carpet with the money saved (premium Shaw brand). Over-all great experience. We will definitely be telling our friends and using Ray again! read more

I'm an flooring installer and this is the worst hardwood flooring product I've ever seen. Total crap!!!! They sell seconds and rejects in unmarked boxes. IF you are not an installer you might not know or understand this. I'm an flooring installer and went to do a job installing product bought from these people (clowns). I went with my client to pick up his boxes from a third party warehouse where they store the product and it was all in unmarked boxes with some boxes torn open. I pulled some of the product out and was appalled to see they were seconds at best. It was 7 mil which is very thin and had all sorts of defects. It was rough, broken, just awful material. I warned the client and he said to install anyway so we did. I did however call up the company and said with all due respect these were seconds and he said there are no seconds in the flooring industry and they sell millions to contractors everywhere His final response to my concerns was "f#$K You AND f#$ Off" and he hung up. If he sold millions to contractors everywhere why is he in a garage in a rental house which he called an underground location which everybody loves". I would bet good money the only good reviews here are bogus. He advertises all over Craigslist so please for your own good stay away. read more

I have been doing floors for 10 years and have always shopped for the best product at a reasonable price. Ray has been my go flooring guy for 5 years now. I have referred friends and realtors to him since I first bought flooring. My last job he even bailed me out when my installer bailed out on me..........like that is ever a surprise lol. He contacted one of his got them done in the same time frame and it was awesome. I had visions or nightmares about taking my Kia Soul 20 times from Oak Knoll to Del Valle just to get the flooring. BEWARE!!!! Carpet Closeouts cut our under carpet security wires in our house while installing the carpet. They are doing nothing to fix the problem and have had horrible customer service. The email below is what the owner sent back to me in response to my email asking him to pay a few hundred dollars to fix the issue. My friend also used them for her new house and she had multiple problems. They ripped up all her carpet and then realized that they ordered the wrong carpet. She has young children and the nails were exposed, she had to have the carpet fixed that day and was forced to install the wrong carpet. The company did not offer her any sort of discount. They are cheap, but you get what you pay for. -Sorry that you are disappointed and are having problems getting your house closed. -If Gonzalo knew he cut alarm wires, he would have told you he cut alarm wires. He has done installations for our customers since 1994 and I have yet to see a single instance where he tried to cover up a problem. -Cash rewards are turned in to be paid on a quarterly basis. Sorry if they do not happen on your timetable. -I do not react to threats. -The BBB fully understands that customer's sometimes do not agree with a company's policy and they will make no judgement regarding our decision to stand by our policy. -You are responding emotionally to your situation. I found this company on craigslist and was a little concerned when they said their showroom was in a residential neighborhood. I went, viewed their selections and was pleased at the selection. They had the carpet they had advertised on craigslist at the price point and could install it within the week. The install team called 30 minutes before showing up, unloaded the padding and carpet, and got busy removing all the furniture in the bedrooms. Within a few hours, I had new carpet in 3 bedrooms and a hallway which looked great. I could not see any seams, the carpet had been stretched and tucked, and gave the whole house a new feel. We bought product from these people, cabin grade flooring which was great...The salesman said buy a little extra for the 10-15% wastage of shorts/damage that would be with the product. Actually it turned out of all the boxes, over 50% was wastage!!! We tried to reason with these people to no avail. We ended up buying more product from another company at extra cost to us! The owner Ray does not want to deal with customers and, the salesman does all the talking for him!!! We are out a lot of money on this product and regret dealing with these people.
