I decided to stop in as I was in the area, and this cute kept popping up on my Instagram. I thought it would be the perfect way to end my weekend in San Diego. For a small space, the decor was cute and inviting, with a good amount of seating. We were greeted by the young lady behind the register and she took our orders. I order the morenita (brown sugar) latte and my friend ordered the cafe de la olla. I had high hopes for the coffees, but they were underwhelming at best. La Morenita was a 2/5. No sweetness, barely any coffee, just warm steamed milk and a pretty design. My friend says the cafe de la olla was ok, a 3/5 and that's being generous. The flavor was there but sorely lacking. While the coffee left lots to be desired, the pan delote was an easy 5/5. Tender, moist, sweet and earthy, and baked in a corn husk so the presentation was lovely. It tasted like someone's Abuelita made it! Not sure if I'd cost again if I were in the area...but I'd I do, it' would be for the cornbread and to try the other yummy looking pastries.

Got myself a salt and honey ice latte with oat milk. It was a great simple drink. Has a hint of salt and sweetness from the honey. The drink was under 7 for 6.50. The coffee is from Mexico and it was a great roast and you can taste the espresso. . Inside is cute and small and simple. The outside is cute and small and makes this placw unique in old town san diego. . Overall if you are lookikg for a good coffee roasters mexican beans this is the spot I recommend for old town san diego area. Nice quick service, order, pay, then on your way. stopped by to use the restroom, but decided to pick up a sweet treat & bev as well~~ and i'm glad we did! this coffee shop has a cute, clean, and minimal interior. it's spacious with a handful of seats. the service was also lovely! i'm not a coffee drinker, but the cafe de olla latte was pretty good. honestly, nothing mind-blowing to me. my bf enjoyed it a lot more though! we even tried to visit again on our last day in san diego, but didn't realize the shop closes earlier in the afternoon :(

The reviews seemed positive and as an out of sleep mom-I always am down for a good coffee. I was a little worried that it was just a tourist trap kind of place., but I took a chance. They have signs saying that they source the coffee from Mexico. It was one of the best roasts I've had in a long time. No bitterness, just smooth with all the right chocolatey notes. Not pictured, but I also got a spinach and ricotta turnover. The pastry was flaky and fluffy at the same time. It really hit the spot. I sent my husband here the next morning to pick up another latte for me. We will be back!

It's a small, cozy shop with a few tables and seating available, or you can easily grab your drink to go while walking around Old Town. The coffee selection was great. The person taking our order was alright, but I was surprised to find out that the person making the coffee -- who wasn't very friendly -- was actually the owner. Not personable or welcoming at all, which was very disappointing when we have the pick of hundreds of other coffee shops in San Diego. I ordered the café de olla iced and initially asked for it less sweet, since it's traditionally very sweet. After the first sip, I ended up asking for a bit more piloncillo syrup. The inside of the café was a bit warm with no A/C, so we didn't stay long, but the mural inside was lovely and added a nice touch to the space. Don't see myself coming back here when there's hundreds of other coffee shops that will provide decent customer service and make me feel welcomed.
I was staying in Old Town for a weekend trip. I decided to pick this place out of the handful that they have in this area. I am glad that I did because the latte we got was delicious. It was the Morenita (brown sugar) latte with oat milk. We were talking to the staff and asking for recommednations on which beans she prefered. She let us know she likes the Lucha Blend and it's the one that they use for their espresso and lattes. That was enough to sell me. We picked up 2 bags of the Lucha beans because the latte was that good. We also ordered a matcha concha. It was just okay. I have had better concha.
Cute small business coffee shop with delicious coffee! I had iced Morenita and it was perfect, not too sweet! Staff were super friendly as well as other patrons. Love the support of local artists works for sale on the walls. Great vibe to go along with good coffee! Cool place to visit while on vacation!
On travel and staying in old town. I've been to this place 3 times in the past week. I love coffee. Specifically I love a perfectly crafted latte. I've been to a lot of coffee places around the country and I've been to a few in San Diego. This is the best latte that I have ever had in San Diego. The milk is foamed perfectly. The flavor of the espresso is not too strong, not too mild, and not too fruity, all of which I've experienced at other places. The flavor is like a complex almost chocolate, and naturally blends with the frothed milk to produce quite literally one of the most delicious lattes that I have ever had. Most notably is also the consistency from day to day. At many places I've been to there might be good days and there might be off days. This has been perfect every single time Highly recommend.
My friend and I check out a new coffee shop or Cafe every few weeks and decided to check this place out and it was great. We both ordered a seasonal drink it was the raspberry latte with white chocolate Cold foam And we both got it iced. It was fantastic. We had no problem getting street parking right in front. It's just a small simple coffee shop with a few tables and chairs. We did not get food here but I believe it is just some pastries. The staff was great and made my drink promptly. Nothing but good things to say about this place. And it's in Old Town so after you get your coffee go walk around. read more
I was looking for a café in the area and came across this spot right in the heart of Old Town. They're known for their Mexican coffee, with lots of variations of their Mexican mocha, though I ended up getting a regular latte and it was great. I also appreciated that they offer "for here" cups. It's a nice place to study or work, especially during the weekdays. I'm not sure how busy it gets on weekends, but overall, it's definitely a spot I'd highly recommend. read more

Pretty good coffee, nothing special. Their pastries/snacks are definitely not the focus. They have a few specialty lattes which are fun, but the dulce de leche latte didn't have any caramel-like flavor that I could detect, just a little sweetness read more

Interesting selection of coffee and recipes. The staff members are very friendly describing the menu to everyone and helping customers to make a selection. I would like to acknowledge how wonderful baristas are working for this company every visit I'm impressed by the design with foam and sweets on my coffee. The music it's amazing. Fiesta ambience, besides the art gallery available and merchandise it's affordable perfect for stockings and holiday gifts. Interesting pastries available. This shop is located in old town, right where they typically host farmers markets or the weekend booths. The shop is tiny but cute, and had good customer service. The menu is fairly limited (syrups or flavor wise) but they have all of your basic coffee options. I had gotten 1 of the 4 flavored latte options, and had gotten their "sweetest" one, however it did not taste very sweet to me. So if you're a sweet coffee kind of person this place may not be for you, but if you're more coffee forward then their drinks are delicious! read more

Cute little shop. Very clean We ordered the cafe de ola latte and it was bitter, we didn't taste any cinnamon, and we didn't taste any piilomcillo. Before I ordered I did try to ask for modifications and they said no they sell it was is. So if you want to change anything sorry you can't. When it was slow there was a lot of personal taking while customers were in the area. It wasn't very professional My favorite part the Ube concha Fresh and delicious. I'd absolutely recommend that. read more
SURPRISE BAG OF PASTRIES (5 stars) - PASTRIES: yum - SERVICE: quick - PRICE: fair - AMBIANCE: cute and simple shoe box size coffee shop Flor & Seed participates in the TooGoodToGo program. It's my first time picking up a Surprise Bag at this shop for $4.99. When I arrived there were two surprised bags packed and they told me choose one (inside had different things). As I opened up my surprise bag to to see what I got... :: SURPRISE BAG :: Bag of pastries BERRY EMPANADA - Yummy. It was small in size compared to savory empanadas. It had sugar crystals coated on top of the empanada and when you take a bite into it there is this berry filling - not the runny kind but a more thicker consistency. HIGHLY RECOMMEND CARROT CAKE MUFFIN - whoa this was surprisingly very good! I didn't expect a carrot cake muffin to be anything special but this one was well baked. The size of the muffin was generous, nice and moist, not too carrot-y, and had the right texture with some small chopped up walnuts, and perfect notes of sweetness. HIGHLY RECOMMEND MEXICAN WEDDING COOKIES (mini) - I love me some mini cookies. White, powdered, crunchy, rich, buttery, pecan flavor. There's all kinds of names for these kind of cookies but since this was from Old Town I'll refer them to "Mexican Wedding Cookies" (aka "insert-country-here" tea cookies". HIGHLY RECOMMEND VANILLA CONCHA - you can never go wrong with a concha. I love conchas! Their conchas are average tasting. Didn't order a hot beverage due to having a late pickup and wanting to be able to sleep at night. Will have to come in the AM and try. This cafe was so so so lovely, with a perfect range of drink options, beautiful (though small) interior, and really high quality drinks. The Aztec Mochas were absolutely incredible, some of the best spiced mochas I've ever tried. The matcha was clearly very good quality - a bit too much milk to matcha ratio for my taste, but still quite enjoyable. We came right after breakfast, or else I really would have loved to try their pastries, as they looked beautiful. And I feel like I would be doing them an injustice if I failed to mention the little Lego espresso machine that was on one of the walls. How cute is that?? Where can I get one? I really wish I could have tried all of their drinks honestly, and every drink that was made for other customers looked as gorgeous and well made as the last. We sat for an hour or so to talk, and it didn't get too busy for our taste, which was very appreciated. Our only note was that the burrito my brother ordered was TINY. Like single Tostito-sized. So probably wouldn't come back for an actual meal. But as a coffee shop it was a perfect stop for a wonderful morning, and I would absolutely stop here again the next time I'm in the area! read more

Truly delicious coffee! I was very impressed by this little shop in the middle of Old Town. I came on a Saturday, so parking wasn't the best and that street is closed for a market. But I wanted to stop by for a mid day pick me up. The shop is small but with nice minimal interior decor. Their menu is super simple and they had a few specials featured. I chose a dulce de leche latte with almond milk. I asked the employee who helped me if it was super sweet or not too bad (because I don't like overly sweet drinks) and he said it was balanced so I didn't make any modifications to the sweetness. it was perfect!! just the right amount of sweetness but the espresso still came through. It was a delectable latte and I would definitely get it again, even as a black coffee drinker. This spot in Old Town is definitely worth a visit! read more
We came from out of town to spend the weekend in San Diego and were recommended this coffee shop. We came on a Sunday and there was a farmers(?) market on the street that the shop is on. It's a cute little coffee spot. Coffee: We got iced La Morenita (their take on a brown shaken espresso), Dulce de Leche latte, and an Aztec Mocha. Both the morenita and the Dulce de leche were too watered down. The flavor profile was good, but I image they would have tasted richer had it been a bit stronger. The Aztec Mocha on the other hand was absolutely delicious! Tasted very authentic and true to chocolate Mexicano. Definitely one of the best Mexican mochas we've had. Vibes/Ambiance: Like I said, it's a really cute little shop in Old Town San Diego. It's in the middle of what seems like the heart of Old Town so there's so much to do and see. I do wish there were more art pieces on the wall, especially since they source their coffee from Mexico and seem to be very involved with the entire process. Although it was pretty busy, service was quick and helpful. I do want to go back and try more of their menu, especially some food items. Seems like there's another vendor outside on their patio that sells burritos, tamales, and chilaquiles too. I'd definitely add this to your list of coffee shops to try. read more
I was in desperate need of a little pick-me-up to get me through the rest of the day, so I was delighted to find Flor & Seed, which is so conveniently located in Old Town. I'm always nervous about parking, but it wasn't so bad to get here. They have street parking easily available (except on weekends because there's a farmer's market, I think) as well as paid lots. Luckily, I was able to snag some free street parking! The cafe itself is very small, though it is cleanly kept and well-decorated with a beautiful mural painted on the wall. My friend and I ordered an iced matcha and chai drink from their specialty menu, which is a bit pricier than their traditional options. They had 2 sizes available, though we opted for the smaller one. Something to note is that the iced drinks are more expensive ($0.75) than the hot drinks, which honestly shocked me because you're getting less drink, no? I don't think I've ever seen a place charge more for ice--it's usually that I get charged more for not wanting ice. It isn't a big deal, but something to note! They offer tap pay too, which is convenient. My friend and I studied for a bit before they started closing at 4 PM. They have outlets and tables with chairs, which makes this a nice study spot. I must admit that I appreciate the worker not rushing to kick us out; the customer service was amazing for both myself and the other patrons I overheard entering/exiting. Overall, I'd say I was happy with my experience at Flor & Seed. It's definitely a treat, but I could see myself coming back and would ultimately recommend this place to others. read more
