A must visit favorite spot in the mission hills neighborhood. The inside isn't too so cute with outdoor patio seating. There is plenty of room! They have some cute jewelry and misc items to purchase as well. My favorite is their avocado toast with the arugula and lemon. It's a must get! I love their vanilla chai latte iced. The workers there are always so sweet and welcoming. They have treats if you bring your furry friend as well! read more

This is a really cozy coffee shop located in Mission Hills, San Diego. I ordered the Indian Spicy Coffee and absolutely loved it! Had a small yogurt parfait in a cup for $8, which is absolutely criminal. Also had a flat white, paid more than what specialty coffee places charge for actual good quality coffee, and it was the worst coffee I've had that I can remember. The quality / taste of the coffee itself was bad and the preparation was seriously awful. You could make a better flat white with Nespresso machine. It's maddening that they charge this much for such low quality product. Otherwise the space is nice inside, so they get a few stars for that. The staff is quite lifeless so neutral score on that. read more

Disappointed by our visit. Friend said they couldn't taste the coffee in their caramel latte, and while the spice flavor in my india spice latte was nice, the drink was quite grainy. I also had the worst almond croissant here - it wasn't flaky, didn't have airy layers, and it was extremely greasy. Not buttery in a good way, just greasy, like the butter somehow wasn't incorporated well into the dough and just oozing out. read more

I really hate to write a bad review but this was such a disappointment. I wanted to love this spot! I spent $29 for two lattes and two berry jam & butter toasts. First of all, their espresso is lacking in flavor. Our plain iced lattes tasted like diluted chocolate milk. But the real crime was their toast. $7.50 for a stale baguette with two foil-wrapped butter pats and bland jelly. Taste and texture are worse than the free baguette from Panera Bread. I live in Hillcrest, and i've been wanting to explore the Mission Hills area a lot more. Walked by here on my morning walk today, and I was so excited to check it out, I waited about half an hour till they opened! The decor inside is so beautiful, and they also sell such gorgeous, dainty jewelry which was so tempting to buy! I wanted to get food, but their only main options were toast and pastries! Next time i'll have to come back and try out their banana bread, it looked SO GOOD! The neighborhood is also just so beautiful, lots of pretty houses and foliage! I will note that the prices are generally higher than I would like, but then again, that's just a part of the specialty coffee shops. read more

Such a a great hidden gem. I was on a walk and fell into their beautiful ambiance trap. The space is truly breathtaking, decorated with Persian and Turkish rugs, crystals and zen statues. The staff was extremely friendly and even boasted about how much they loved working there with the owner. The interior has some seating but, I love that they have ample outdoor seating for you to enjoy your food and beverage. I ordered the a toasted baguette with butter and jam and the Turkish latte. They offer traditional plating or to go plate for all food and had about 5-6 types of jam to choose from. I ultimately went with the nectarine jam and HOLY CRAP, that jam will knock your socks off. I ordered the iced dark chocolate mocha and they gave me a Mexican mocha. I got it replaced with the correct drink but it didn't taste like dark chocolate. I thought it was just regular mocha but they don't offer regular mocha so it must have been the dark chocolate. Disappointed with this drink. Then the toasts didn't have any price but we still ordered it to try it out. 2 drinks and 2 toasts cake out to be around $34. Each toast was around $11.25. Mine was ricotta and a drizzle of berry sauce. My bf had avocado toast. Both toasts are decent but it was overpriced. Nothing really special about it which would want me to go back and reorder it. I could have gotten a hearty burrito for less than $11.25. It's actually a quaint place with ample amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Pet friendly. It was very busy on a weekend morning before 9am. Coffee prices are average and everyone else seems to like their coffee - just don't get the overpriced toast. read more

Same with the ricotta berry They did make a couple mistakes on our order and they fixed the coffee right away with no problem and although I ordered one of the avocado toasts I got the other one but it was almost the same so I didn't say anything although I know they would have fixed it if I did so the customer service was great. read more

The coffee was excellent at this hybrid cafe/boutique. The food was fair but a bit pricey. Friendly service. I didn't purchase any retail items but they had a large selection of local artisan crafts like essential oils, crystals, and "ritual items". They are all mixed in together throughout the cafe without a clear distinction of purpose. This is a locals cafe, deep in the mission hills neighborhood. Upon entering, the scent of sage (or oils or candles or all of them) was so overwhelming, we chose to eat outside where we could taste our food. Seems like a poor concept to display strongly scented items in the same space where you want your customers to eat. I don't know where they source their beans but the drip coffee was strong, hot, and delicious. This was a highlight. The out door patio are was comfortable and clean. The quiche of the day was asparagus and gruyere. Underwhelming, with a soggy bottom crust. My kids ordered chocolate croissants, which disappeared promptly, so I assume they were good. Kettle & Stone is a really cute café in the Mission Hills neighborhood of San Diego. There's plenty of street parking since it's a less-busy neighborhood and a small number of little shops. Inside, there's a good amount of seating, but I wouldn't say it's the best for studying or working - more of a catch up with a friend type of café. I ordered an oat milk cortado just to try out their coffee and see how it matches up with others in the city. It was very light but bold, and oat milk is always the best substitute in my opinion! It was perfect and got me wanting to try their pretty extensive selection. Overall a great place and an excellent complement to the neighborhood! read more

Great little coffee shop in mission hills! They have anything you could want from a coffee and tea perspective. They have a small pastry selection. Also a small toast selection. What we got and recommend: - zucchini bread - sweet and delicious - avocado toast - I was so surprised by how good this was. Freshly toasted baguette with a good amount of avocado and some arugula. This is a gorgeous little boutique and cafe in Mission Hills--I came at 7am on a Friday and there were already a good amount of people here. As other reviewers have mentioned, the food is pricey and the draw is the ambiance and neighborhood feel. I can see it being more crowded during peak hours, so not sure if it would be a great place to work or study. However, they do have a substantial amount of outlets along the wall so you don't need to fight for the best table with an outlet. I didn't try any of their drinks but ordered their ricotta toast. You can pick from a berry or honey jam option--it was good but nothing out of the ordinary. I do wish that they would list the prices on their entire menu, it's available for most of their of their drinks. I don't understand why they don't disclose it so you're not surprised by an $11.50 ordinary toast. Still a lovely neighborhood cafe as there aren't too many in the area. read more

Cute little cafe. It's pretty popular, so expect there to be a line. After we ordered, the line was outside the door. Thankfully we didn't have to wait that long. In addition to coffee & light breakfast food, they sell other products like books, candles, etc inside too. Love the aesthetics of the interior. If you can't get a table inside, there are several tables right outside the entrance as well. Coffee: 4/5 - we ordered the vanilla bean latte & dark mocha latte (got both with almond milk) under their drink specialties. I wasn't a super fan of either latte (maybe it was the almond milk that overpowered the flavor), but my husband liked it so I'm giving 4 stars for the coffee. Service: 3/5 - super friendly service; however, the cashier did ask us to repeat every single item we ordered multiple times aka which coffee, which toast (although we said the quiche). I get it, they're busy but we only ordered 4 items. I also asked what flavor scones were on the display, and I chose chocolate chip after she mentioned it but later on, we were served one with raisins (I guess they mistook the raisins for chocolate chips). Didn't make a fuss about it and just ate it. Pastries: 4/5 the spinach and feta quiche and scone were both good Would probably visit again and try maybe more of the classic drinks. read more

I was staying in the neighborhood, and this small local coffee shop is around the corner. I stopped by to pick up coffee and pastry for breakfast. This is a very cute coffee shop. There are local artist putting their items in this coffee shop for sale. The decorations are wellness based. I ordered an americano and a chocolate croissant. The americano came out very hot that I almost burned my hand when I was holding the cup. Love the taste of the americano as it came out strong. However, I am not a fan of the chocolate croissant. The pastry was not flakey or crispy. It deformed when I was picking it up. There is room for improvement. Service was fast and pretty attentive. read more

Found this cute little hidden coffee shop when looking for a caffeine fix via Yelp. Scored parking right in front. Lots of seating available both in- and outdoors. FYI - in addition to the lage menu posted, there was also a seasonal menu posted at the register. We ordered the Vanilla bean latte and a Toasted Hazelnut latte (seasonal menu). Hubs also ordered a chocolate croissant. Sat inside to enjoy our drinks. Cafe also a little shop selling candles, home sprays, and some jewelry. What I enjoyed most about my drink were the specks of vanilla bean in my drink and the vaa flavor. The toasted hazelnut was also good. Hubs, however, didn't care much for the croissant. He said it didn't taste fresh, wasn't flaky, and not a whole lot of chocolate. Will probably bypass the pastries and just stick to the coffee. read more

They have a variety of standard coffee drinks (lattes, black coffee, etc.) and tea as well as a decent spread of pastries (scones, muffins, donuts, etc.). I got the black coffee and the raspberry scone. The black coffee was pretty standard but the scone was super yummy! Not too sweet, a little dense but still light enough. The raspberry glaze on top really brought a nice flavor too. My friend got the iced salted caramel latte and enjoyed that. Tons of outdoor seating and on a quiet street.
