Kono's Cafe lives up to the hype.We got there around 9 AM and the line was already out the door, which usually makes me second guess a place... but this one is worth it. The line moves pretty quick and there's plenty of seating in and around the cafe, plus some great spots right by the beach. I ordered the French toast with bacon, my wife got a burrito, both were so freaking good. Simple, solid breakfast done really well. Super popular for a reason. Great food, great location, and a fun beachy vibe. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
04/03/2026 For the past three or four visits, we've come here specifically for the Egg Burrito #1. Today, we decided on our usual, but it wasn't as satisfying as before. The burrito was very bland, had less avocado, and lacked enough filling to give it that substantial, "full-grip" feel. Service: Martin was the one who brought us our order and greeted us with a smile, saying, "It's nice to see you again!" The feeling was mutual.
Stopped by Kono's Cafe again! It's honestly one of those local gem spots that serves that classic California beach breakfast. Places like this never go out of style here in SoCal. Prices are super reasonable for PB too especially for the BIG portions! We got the French toast breakfast special, Big Breakfast #2 (split). It's a classic breakfast, simple, perfectly cooked, and the right amount of flavor all around. Service is always warm and welcoming with a smile at the counter even with the crowd they tent to get. Not to mention the patio seating is a huge bonus! nothing beats eating outside with that beach breeze. A classic loved local spot. I'll always be back.
This was a great little breakfast spot! Very close to the beach! The staff was friendly and the food was great and tasty! I really loved their potatoes!!! Don't be fooled by the "little breakfast" it's enough to feed 2 hungry ppl! LoL! I was not disappointed tho! Great spot but get there early to find a place to find seating as it does get busy. We went on a weekday and it was still busy. There's nice paths to go for a walk on the beach and alot of little shops too. Will definitely come and eat here again!
Nothing beats breakfast with a view. Straightforward menu, great corner location, friendly welcoming staff and decent pricing. Saw this place on my search for breakfast with a view and based on the line I chose the right place. Quaint seating inside, patio out back and just across the way is a patio with a view of the best waves. I ordered French toast, bacon and hot chocolate. First bite felt like Saturday morning with the family; and the paper plate not only practical but nostaligc. French toast was sweet bacon crispy and but chocolate was creamy. I could sit there all day and watch the waves.
I ordered the #5 burrito and the service was very friendly. The line moves fast and you'll order at the counter. They didn't ask if our meal would be for there or to go, though the staff were super friendly & bagged it for us when we received the order. I felt the flavor was lacking compared to other breakfast burritos I've had. It was mostly scrambled egg inside. I was also expecting pico in the burrito but it actually comes on the side. Some tables inside. It's a cute beach cafe.
If you're ever doing the Mission Beach Boardwalk to Pacific Beach when in San Diego, CA, be sure to stop at Kono's Cafe for breakfast or a latte. Kono's has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is across from the restaurant with ocean views. You can also walk to the beach from Kono's Cafe deck. We started our workout about 10am and the weather was at 78 degrees so nice this time of year. We ordered the breakfast burrito #3 with bacon, potatoes , eggs and cheese and the Big Breakfast #2 with French toast, eggs, bacon, potatoes etc. I rate the food 4.5/5 stars. This place is more like a 4.5 out of 5 stars. this place is definitely worth your time and money! We ended up getting a breakfast burrito and a breakfast plate. the burrito was really good and filling. the breakfast plate came with eggs, pancakes, bacon, muffin and some cheese potatoes. Also very good and filling. Both items were decently priced. There are three places to sit: inside the actual restaurant, outside adjacent watching people walking on the side walk, and third is kinda hidden away over looking the ocean.... honestly this was the best, how could you beat a nice breakfast burrito and ocean views? The only down side is the parking, not a lot of public parking. if i'm back in san diego, i'm 100% coming back.
I tried to get in for three days and every day the line was out the door. Well I got lucky Tues am. No line. So after my walk I had the pleasure of eating here! Food: the food is great. The breakfast burrito was simply amazing! Made fresh and was delicious! The customer service is great! The people that work here are very nice! Quick great top notch service! I like how close it's to the beach. Great fresh air in the open air restaurant. So glad that I stopped in! Easy five star review and worth the wait if you come and there is a line.

This place hits the spot for a quick round of delicious food after a morning or afternoon day at the beach. I have not been here since they opened in the 90's and I'm glad this spot is still alive and kicking. The portions are generous and the staff cranked out our two dishes within 15 minutes. There are tables on the outside with a view of Crystal Pier and the beach. The tables inside gives you a view of the foot traffic on the boardwalk. Parking is tight around this area. We ended up paying for parking in the next block. I got the big breakfast number one. It is generous enough for two adults. Two pancakes, two strips of crispy bacon, English Muffin, potatoes covered in ooey and gooey mounds of cheese. It was tasty and hit the spot. My wife got the breakfast burrito. I washed my food down with a cup of OJ. They also have coffee but no decaf coffee. Here's the workflow, order at the counter, get a table, the staff will deliver your meal to your table inside or outside. From the outside it looks like a laid back beach restaurant, but the food prepared here is more than meets the eye. There is a reason there is usually a long line, the food sells itself. If you get the chance put this place on your hit list. Enjoy! read more
I have lived in San Diego my entire 3 decades of life and Konos has always been a beach staple, and now I know why! The inside itself is very small with scattered tables and a walk up window. It has a similar lay out to a taco shop. This place is always packed with a long line, but it makes sense with how small it is. We got a Big Breakfast 1 and a Bagel and Fruit. The prices were more then fair as well, great deal! The staff were super kind and we had great interactions. We sat out on the Patio and it was such a beautiful day! A staff member brought out our breakfast and it was gorgeous!! The potatoes were so good, cheesy with fresh veggies I absolutely loved them! The pancakes were so soft and delicious, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. I also enjoyed the English muffin! I didn't get eggs, since I have an intolerance but I couldn't even finish what I had. The fruit cup was good, not fully ripe though. The bagel and cream cheese was also really good! Overall this was an amazing spot and I fully understand the hype! Nice atmosphere and seating by the beach. You wait in line and order at the counter, but then they deliver to you. Food came out quickly. Prices were good. The coffee was also really good. The food quality wasn't anything special, typical diner food, but you come here for the view. read more

Kono's was alright. We were staying by the pier so we stopped in for breakfast since it's such a popular spot. The food was very basic, traditional breakfast food. Nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out to us either. The workers were nice and the location is honestly a 100/10. Being right by the beach and pier is definitely the best part. I personally feel like it's a little overhyped, but now we can say we've been. For us, it was more of a one-and-done kind of place. read more

This is a walk up on the beach and it's worth the wait. The food was delicious and hearty. Breakfast burrito (avocado and bacon) and French toast are legitimate delicious. The service is next level friendly. The gentleman taking our order was super relaxed. Did everything in his power to give us exactly what we wanted. And the view there overlooking the water is gorgeous. I don't give five stars unless a place is exceptional and they get the nod. read more

Konos is located on the super popular Pacific Beach boardwalk. When you approach, you'll be greeted with a long line of hungry beach going people. Dont worry, the line moves pretty quickly. Our line was wrapped around the entrance all the way to the exit. We were able to get to the front counter in 20min. Seems like the crowd favorite is the giant breakfast plate. I was told by a buddy to get the french toast. So I did. It did not disappoint. Everything was cooked so well. They went all in on the fresh ingredients. Eggs were made with cheese and potatoes were made with veggies. How was the french toast? Delicious! Nice fluffy and sweet! Highly recommend it. If you dont mind figuring out the parking mess, or you're already in the area, this is a great place to grab some breakfast. read more
There was a long line when we arrived so we grabbed a menu and was ready to order when we made it to the register. Find a place to sit after you order - inside, the adjacent patio or across the way along the water. They'll bring your food to you. Cheese wasn't listed as an ingredient on the menu, be sure to ask. One of our party is allergic to dairy and overheard someone else in the party say no cheese and asked about it being in her dish. Good thing. Reasonable prices and generous portions. I was in San Diego for a few days and heard wonderful things about this place. It is located right on the boardwalk. We went on a Sunday, which was pretty busy, but they seemed to move through the lines pretty fast. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese burrito. My friend and I shared it as it was a huge. There were a lot of flavors to the burrito and it came with two salsas. Overall, I thought it was decent and would recommend. PHENOMENAL. The price is worth it, I don't get to say this for any brunch places in SoCal. For a breakfast burrito or three jumbo pancakes it is about $10-$12. Great for friends and families hoping to grab something to eat before or after walking along the beach. My family (parents, two siblings, and two dogs) ordered: *Breakfast Burrito #1 - cheese and slices of sausage were the highlight *Breakfast Burrito #5 - generous amounts of jalepenos that was provided the right amount of spicy kick *BLT and A sandwich - toasted well with bacon that is crunchy, bagged chips on the side *Just Pancakes (3) - fluffy pancakes without too much butter *12 oz coffee - quite nicely brewed and paired well with all our entrees to share The total amounted to about $50 Location wise - perfect. There are indoor and outdoor seating that are within walking distance of a great view. Food hits the spot when you're craving brunch-like food that feels like home. The service was kind. Would love to give this place is 4.5. The menu is simple, the food is very good, and the place itself is awesome. It's a stand in line and order place. The tortillas they use for their burritos are homemade which was a nice surprise. If you manage to get a spot out front, the view is incredible. The only thing holding me back from this place being a knock out of the park is that they only have generic salsas and the bacon was a little bit overdone (my opinion). All HYPE. Not worth the wait at all. Food is bland. Had better at DENNYS. Most of my Potatoes were RAW. Bacon was good. And that bathroom why. Very nasty about the same time use the restroom.. Not worth the time. I should of just went to DENNYS. read more

Out for a city hike with a friend and we stopped in. It's a small place with only a few stools. But... we we're greeted with a huge smile and our drinks were served quickly and were tasty. It's not a hang out place but it 100% worth stopping in. read more
This place is an absolute gem in the area! The location of it is absolutely amazing, right in front of the beach. The cafe itself has an amazing climate and is truly such a beautiful place to eat at. You would assume that with its location it would be one of the most expensive places in the area but it's the complete opposite. The prices are very good and reasonable, way lower compared to the other places nearby, and the food you get is truly phenomenal. read more

After growing up in SD, I finally got to try Kono's for the first time - a PB staple. There was a line around 10 AM on a Saturday which went by pretty quickly. We ordered the Big breakfast #2 and a coffee to share - it was plenty of food and we didn't even finish it. The potatoes were a bit cheesy for me but the eggs and french toast were really good. I was so excited to try this place out since I've seen it all over social media and everyone says this is the spot to get the best breakfast burritos in SD. We came on Saturday at 9:30 AM and there was a long line, but thankfully it went by quickly. We ordered: - Egg Burrito #5: The burrito came out piping hot, which was great. We felt like the all the ingredients were incredibly underseasoned and bland. A ton of eggs, but not enough chorizo. - Big Breakfast #1: Really basic breakfast food. Not much to comment on. Parking is difficult, as with most places in PB. Service was fast and food is cheap with ginormous portions. Place has a beachy ambience, but just go eat your food outside to enjoy the view! Yes, you can sit outside in a couple different areas, and I believe they will let you have them inside as well! Cheers!

Don't think they have WIFI although I have seen people working on there last tips eating breakfast!
