Big Breakfast 1 (Pancakes)
Carlos R.

Here at my spot grabbing a breakfast #1 and breakfast #2 plate with OJ!!! This spot is one of my go to's for breakfast!!!

Delanie P.

Kono's Cafe lives up to the hype.We got there around 9 AM and the line was already out the door, which usually makes me second guess a place... but this one is worth it. The line moves pretty quick and there's plenty of seating in and around the cafe, plus some great spots right by the beach. I ordered the French toast with bacon, my wife got a burrito, both were so freaking good. Simple, solid breakfast done really well. Super popular for a reason. Great food, great location, and a fun beachy vibe. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

My half portion of our Egg Burrito #1 ($6.95). Delicious!

04/03/2026 For the past three or four visits, we've come here specifically for the Egg Burrito #1. Today, we decided on our usual, but it wasn't as satisfying as before. The burrito was very bland, had less avocado, and lacked enough filling to give it that substantial, "full-grip" feel. Service: Martin was the one who brought us our order and greeted us with a smile, saying, "It's nice to see you again!" The feeling was mutual.

Big Breakfast 2 (French Toast) **split

Stopped by Kono's Cafe again! It's honestly one of those local gem spots that serves that classic California beach breakfast. Places like this never go out of style here in SoCal. Prices are super reasonable for PB too especially for the BIG portions! We got the French toast breakfast special, Big Breakfast #2 (split). It's a classic breakfast, simple, perfectly cooked, and the right amount of flavor all around. Service is always warm and welcoming with a smile at the counter even with the crowd they tent to get. Not to mention the patio seating is a huge bonus! nothing beats eating outside with that beach breeze. A classic loved local spot. I'll always be back.

This was the Little Breakfast seriously 2 ppl Can eat off of this plate. It was soo good

This was a great little breakfast spot! Very close to the beach! The staff was friendly and the food was great and tasty! I really loved their potatoes!!! Don't be fooled by the "little breakfast" it's enough to feed 2 hungry ppl! LoL! I was not disappointed tho! Great spot but get there early to find a place to find seating as it does get busy. We went on a weekday and it was still busy. There's nice paths to go for a walk on the beach and alot of little shops too. Will definitely come and eat here again!

Nothing beats breakfast with a view. Straightforward menu, great corner location, friendly welcoming staff and decent pricing. Saw this place on my search for breakfast with a view and based on the line I chose the right place. Quaint seating inside, patio out back and just across the way is a patio with a view of the best waves. I ordered French toast, bacon and hot chocolate. First bite felt like Saturday morning with the family; and the paper plate not only practical but nostaligc. French toast was sweet bacon crispy and but chocolate was creamy. I could sit there all day and watch the waves.

I ordered the #5 burrito and the service was very friendly. The line moves fast and you'll order at the counter. They didn't ask if our meal would be for there or to go, though the staff were super friendly & bagged it for us when we received the order. I felt the flavor was lacking compared to other breakfast burritos I've had. It was mostly scrambled egg inside. I was also expecting pico in the burrito but it actually comes on the side. Some tables inside. It's a cute beach cafe.

Mission Beach Boardwalk to Pacific Beach when in San Diego, CA, be sure to stop at Kono's Cafe for breakfast or a latte

If you're ever doing the Mission Beach Boardwalk to Pacific Beach when in San Diego, CA, be sure to stop at Kono's Cafe for breakfast or a latte. Kono's has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is across from the restaurant with ocean views. You can also walk to the beach from Kono's Cafe deck. We started our workout about 10am and the weather was at 78 degrees so nice this time of year. We ordered the breakfast burrito #3 with bacon, potatoes , eggs and cheese and the Big Breakfast #2 with French toast, eggs, bacon, potatoes etc. I rate the food 4.5/5 stars. Check it out when in the area! Happy Yelping :)

Nice atmosphere and seating by the beach. You wait in line and order at the counter, but then they deliver to you. Food came out quickly. Prices were good. The coffee was also really good. The food quality wasn't anything special, typical diner food, but you come here for the view.

This place is more like a 4.5 out of 5 stars. this place is definitely worth your time and money! We ended up getting a breakfast burrito and a breakfast plate. the burrito was really good and filling. the breakfast plate came with eggs, pancakes, bacon, muffin and some cheese potatoes. Also very good and filling. Both items were decently priced. There are three places to sit: inside the actual restaurant, outside adjacent watching people walking on the side walk, and third is kinda hidden away over looking the ocean.... honestly this was the best, how could you beat a nice breakfast burrito and ocean views? The only down side is the parking, not a lot of public parking. if i'm back in san diego, i'm 100% coming back.

Love!! Food is delicious and fresh. You get so much food just so perfect. The location and options in seating is perfect. Service has always been quick and friendly. Perfect for breakfast on the beach. My fav is their french toast.

My small breakfast plate! Yummy!

Wish I could give 1000 stars!! This place is worth the wait! I ordered the small breakfast and it was far from small & absolutely delicious!! We sat outside dining area with perfect view of the ocean! Amazing customer service and the prices are reasonable too!

I tried to get in for three days and every day the line was out the door. Well I got lucky Tues am. No line. So after my walk I had the pleasure of eating here! Food: the food is great. The breakfast burrito was simply amazing! Made fresh and was delicious! The customer service is great! The people that work here are very nice! Quick great top notch service! I like how close it's to the beach. Great fresh air in the open air restaurant. So glad that I stopped in! Easy five star review and worth the wait if you come and there is a line.

I appreciated the live music, though it did make conversation a bit difficult to hear. The drinks were sweet and strong! I recommend the Tangled Up in Blue The macaroni and cheese was the best appetizer. The wagyu tartare is actually quite spicy, and although tasty, we could not finish it because of the burn. The entrees were hot and cooked exactly as asked. You seriously get a bang for your buck with the portion size of the chicken parm! I also got some random corn surprises in my dish - I don't mind, but just something to be aware of in case you are allergic. I'm definitely coming back.

They have a smaller outdoor patio but a very large space indoors. We came right at 5 on a Wed and it wasn't too busy then but by the time we left at 7 it was packed. All night happy hour on Wednesday too! Their happy hour menu is slightly discounted (~$2-5) items from their main menu. We got some drinks, the chicken bao, brussel sprouts and charred broccoli. Broccoli was not on hh. For my drink I got the Grenache that was on hh. Unfortunately it was served super warm. It was a hot day but you'd think they'd put it somewhere cooler so it didn't get like that. I wouldn't get wine there again. For food the bao bun had a good variety of components. My only knock on it was that the chicken piece was tiny. That being said, it was well cooked and super crunchy texture which I loved. Brussel sprouts were delicious and crispy. The peanut sauce they use on it is perfect. The broccoli was decent. It ate much sweeter than I thought it would and the sauce made the labneh a little runny so it didn't stick to the broccoli well. Service was sooo friendly and very quick the whole night but we never felt rushed. I would definitely come back and try more.

It's got the decor, chairs, and art to match. Jessica was our server and she was amazing! She gave us lots of suggestions on what to try and what is on the menu since it was my first time here. She recommended the bloody Mary flight so did grab that to try! We also ordered the biscuits and gravy to share and orange juice. The portions are so large! So I am glad we decided to share the biscuits and gravy but let me run down each thing. Bloody Mary Flight: Honestly every single one was amazing. My favorite was definitely the pickle Mary! Everything tasted so delicious and was garnished beautifully. Well worth the 22 dollars. Biscuits and Gravy: Absolute perfection of comfort food. The biscuits were so fluffy and well seasoned. The gravy was also soooo good, just like my mom makes. The sausage in it was also cooked so well and juicy. I've never tried mashed potatoes with the biscuits and gravy but it worked very well! Orange Juice: Not a fan really, not pulpy enough and I wasn't a fan of the flavor. Overall this is definitely a must visit! I will definitely be back.

The food was amazing! In particular, I enjoyed the fried chicken and waffle tower and their roasted chicken hash. I was surprised they didn't include a side of butter along with their biscuits, but I'll probably just ask for it next time. One important thing to note is that their dishes are HUGE. All 6 of us had our own dishes, but I would highly highly recommend ordering a couple dishes and sharing it family style if you're dining with a group. One note I did have about Hash House is how overstimulating the menu is lol. The menu had a lot of clashing fonts, colors, and clip art images, it made it hard to digest the menu. I didn't even notice some menu offerings because of how busy the menu was. Also, our waitress did initially charge us for 6 coffees, even though we only had 3. It was a good thing we caught that error on the receipt before paying. Overall, the food at Hash House is definitely worth coming back for.

As if that wasn't enough, we walked in and realized it was trivia night, which immediately made the evening even better. While looking through the menu, I spotted a salmon bowl. I'm still pretty new to seafood and have recently discovered that I'm actually a big fan of raw salmon, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to branch out. Well... surprise! For some reason I had convinced myself it was going to be a poke-style bowl with raw salmon, avocado, cucumbers, and all the usual toppings. Instead, it came out with cooked salmon. Even though it wasn't what I expected, the bowl was actually delicious. The funny part is I learned something about myself... I definitely prefer raw salmon over cooked salmon. Not a bad discovery to make over a good meal! The atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming, trivia kept the energy up all night, and the service was friendly from start to finish. Great place to grab a drink, catch up with friends, and maybe even learn something new about your own taste buds.

And, the portion is so huge that I take most of it home and have the pancakes for breakfast the next several days. Enough about the pancakes. Let's talk about the service, which is what compelled me to write this review. A few months ago I sat down and my server, Erick, came up to my table and said, "Protein pancakes and decaf?" I was blown away! He remembered me and my order. I am not that regular a guest. He is just that amazing. And, it doesn't stop there. A few minutes after delivering my food, he brought a to-go box, because he knew I always take most of my meal with me, and I'm always in a hurry. That's not great service - that's extraordinary service! At one to two times a month, Erick makes me feel like a 5 day a week regular.
