PLEASE stay away from this shop that engages in false advertising. All they care about is making money off of you by using beautiful pictures to bait and switch you - you will get cheap leftover flowers if you are ordering based on what the website shows you. You will get some garbage arrangement that only has carnations and mums, some of the cheapest stems you can get. I ordered a "You are the Best" bundle that included a "Bright and Cheery" arrangement - what was delivered (a surprise gift for an important milestone for my husband) was a garbage arrangement that looked nothing like what was advertised. In fact, Kate, the co-owner offered to send an actual "Bright and Cheery" bouquet to correct the situation - they clearly knew what they were sending wasn't what was advertised! They also didn't write the correct note that I requested in the card I purchased. And to further confirm this false advertising issue they completely changed the description of the product I purchased. Why change the description if I'm a dumb customer that didn't understand that the "You're the Best" bundle and the "Bright and Cheery" arrangement are completely two different products regardless of the cross reference? No need to remove the reference to the "Bright and Cheery" arrangement, don't you think? Please save your money and go elsewhere - we've had great experience with Halsted Flowers and I should have stuck with what I know is great. read more

I've ordered flowers from probably every florist in East Lakeview now and this was easily the worst experience from top to bottom I've ever had. Went ahead and placed my $110 order on 5/6 over the phone with a nice woman with a lovely accent for 5/10. All downhill from there. I called on 5/8 to confirm the day and time because this was a very time sensitive day planned. A different woman answered this time and just said "I can have it ready any day Saturday or Sunday" so I said oh ok great let's make it for tomorrow (5/9 9am). She seemed very rushed and asked for my name and hung up right after. It's not a simple name so I assume she didn't even look up my order in the system or write it down. Sure enough I show up on 5/9 at 9am and my order is no where to be found. Can't say I'm surprised. This is where I really got upset. It was the same woman I spoke to the day prior, she seemed very discerned and offered some pre-made arrangement that was nothing like what I requested. Not only that it is nothing like what a $100 arrangement should look like from a florist. I am a regular at Halsted Flowers and I get better arrangements for less than this. She didn't offer any sort of discount and just wanted to rush me away because her phone was ringing back inside the shop. She called me about an hour later offering to exchange it if I brought it back HAHAHA still no discount or future credit offer. My husband and son picked up some flowers for me on Mothers day. Apparently the lady there was abrupt and didn't really offer any suggestions. My husband chose some peonies and my son chose some daisies. When my son brought me the bouquet, I wouldn't have guessed it was from a reputed florist. The flowers were just tied together with some leaves, some of them brown or munched on by worms. It wasn't an "arrangement." I told her I didn't want big, boring flowers that everyone has at their wedding receptions. As a person with no flower knowledge, I really needed help especially since I had no idea what I wanted--I just knew what I didn't want. Suzanna came up with interesting designs from submerged flowers to limes in a huge vase at the bar to gerbera daisies popping out of wheat grass (my favorite!). They did a fantastic job setting up our venue and it was beyond what I expected when I arrived. Even my mother-in-law that is crazy about flowers loved them. The bridesmaid bouquets were not exactly what I invisioned. They weren't straight across at the top or cylindrical but had flowers popping out at all heights. Turns out that this is how the flowers are naturally grown. Well, I was unhappy and called Suzanna 30 minutes before the wedding ceremony. We're also not what I would consider 'flower people'--we hadn't planned on spending much on our wedding flowers, and didn't really think they'd be that important to us when we started wedding planning. However, as we started researching/interviewing florists and looking at photos for inspiration, we quickly realized we have very specific, modern taste in floral design and maybe they were more important to us than we initially thought. She was totally understanding and always helpful via e-mail, on the phone, AND in person. By the time our flowers arrived on our big day, I was FLOORED by how beautiful they were! My bouquet was EXACTLY what I wanted, and then some! Everything turned out wonderfully--bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, high and low centerpieces, etc., etc...We couldn't have asked for anything more! But I think what speaks most to the talent of this team is our focal pieces for our ceremony. We were very vague about what we wanted, and somehow they created these AMAZING, funky, perfect focal pieces that just blew us away, and matched the rest of our event and decor perfectly. I am still totally shocked at how great they looked when I see them in photos. We were also in awe of how they transformed our cake from a plain, white, square-tiered cake to something totally GORGEOUS! We have gotten so many compliments on how beautiful our cake was! I worked with Randy at Flora for my wedding at the end of June. We selected Flora originally for Randy's ability to understand the look & feel we wanted and run with it. Flora is five stars for the following reasons: 1. Fantastic ability to visualize and create unique arrangements. We brought in one or two images of what we really liked to provide inspiration. 2. Openness to help you work within your budget and maximize the impact. 3. Reasonably priced given the quality of the flowers and design 4. Wonderful customer service to revise. We ordered a sample arrangement (highly recommended for any bride with any florist) and then worked with Randy to make adjustments based on what we like and what we didn't. He ordered a set of some different flowers for us to play with when I came into the store to achieve the vision. 5. Dependable and reliable from initial consultation through to delivery. Also, each boutonniere even had a name attached since the groom, father of the bride, ushers, and groomsmen each had slightly different versions of the same theme. 6. Great flower selection in the store with a really lush feeling Subtracted one star because the contracts were not always consistent from one to the next, so I needed to double check them for inconsistencies. Stopped in on Saturday to pick up some flowers for a dinner party and the person working seemed annoyed right off the bat that I had come into the store. She told me 3x how busy they were (possibly, however no one else was in the store) and when I asked for help with some flowers in the refrigerated case she reluctantly came over to help and them promptly yanked the flowers away and said they were already spoken for. I live in California, but have friends and people I do business with. Several years ago I wanted to send Flowers to the wife of Jazz Showcase owner, Wayne Segal. She is a pretty special person and did me a big favor taking care of a bet I lost to someone that hangs at the Showcase every Thursday night; she provided a credit to him. For all her, Kwan's work and effort, I wanted to send her flowers. Not being familiar with the florists there I searched, read reviews, and started calling around. Most of the people were pretty cool, but I hit it off with Flora owner Suzanna. Because the Jazz Showcase didn't open until 7:30...no one is there for deliveries until way after florists deliver; Suzanna said she would find a way...and she did. Without getting into detail...she went out of her way to make sure they were delivered in a PERFECT WAY. That's an example of her - FLORA service. The flowers she designed and delivered to Kwan were elegant and gorgeous...totally represented how I felt. I could not find the picture Kwan sent to me...but they were mixed greens with beautiful spring calla lilies (baby)...so delicate just perfect. This was followed up with another arrangement to Jazz Showcase's main man, Chuck who retired...had to send him an arrangement from Flora too. They were beautiful and 'masculine'...lol...they did a great job with perfect delivery service on his last night. Last week I called Flora for a friend in Chicago to see if they could design, arrange, and deliver 7 arrangements for doctors at Northwestern on Tuesday April 18, 2017. I also asked if they wouldn't mind adding candy to the deliveries. I sent 18 lbs. of See's Candy to Flora to accompany the individual floral arrangements. Done deal!!! FLOWERS WERE A BIG HIT!!! I have enclosed pictures...but I can't create an image of the excitement Flora's beautiful arrangements generated. Lifelong Customer Status I had no idea what we were getting into when we called Flora for their support. My father passed away two years ago at 61. He grew up in a small farm town in Italy where Lemon Trees grew natively. After the first year, I wanted a way to feel his presence and cherish his memory. I invested in a Dwarf Lemon Tree from William Sonoma where I was assured that it could thrive indoors. In its infancy, it was thriving with new growth and sturdy leaves. I was elated. Over a few months, I started to notice leaves falling off. It got so bad that I thought it was dying. Never having owned a lemon tree, I needed help fast and YouTube wasn't cutting it. And that's where Flora gloriously comes into the picture. My boyfriend lives nearby and brought my tree over to the shop desperate for help. Despite nursery not being a primary service they offered, they listened to my story with compassion and encouraged us they'd do what they could. They didn't just hold onto my tree for a week or two. Finally, after the last call, they recommended my tree get transferred to a nearby nursery to finalize its rehab. I have heard nothing but amazing things about Flora Chicago and decided to give them a shot. I typically order flowers from Ashland Addison and I work in the hospitality industry at a luxury hotel in the Chicago. I refer Ashland Addison to a lot of brides and love working with them. I paid $60 for an arrangement that looked like it was about $15. It was sparse and had a lot of filler. The vase was so small. Overall, it was disappointing. Typically the flower shops I order from go above and beyond because if I have a good experience, I will refer my clients to them. Once I got home and saw the disappointing arrangements, my boyfriend and I called them and told them how upset we were and they offered to bring us a new flower arrangement. While I appreciated their effort to bring us a new one, it still lacked everything I was looking for in a flower arrangement. I am not a "flower" person. I am not big on getting real flowers for around my condo or for a special event. Every vase in my house is filled with plastic flowers (sorry Flora!). So I figured for my wedding I should make an exception but I was still pretty sure I did not want flowers as part of the centerpieces. I started out working with Gretchen and we met and she showed me tons of pictures, asked me great questions about what kind of style the wedding would be, what kind of style I had, how my fiance and I met, etc. She was absolutely delightful and offered up some great non-flower suggestions for decorating my outdoor wedding. A couple months before the wedding, Gretchen left and I began working with Suzanna who was great. I have no idea what other brides are like but I sent question after question to Suzanna through email and she never once sounded like she wanted to strangle me. She helped me change my order, removing some things, offering up some suggestions for a simple, flower centerpiece. The week before, when I dropped off my Eiffel Tower vases for the centerpieces, I immediately got a call from Randy who explained that the orchids we were planning on using had short stems that wouldn't work as well in the 16" tall vases. He told me he would figure something out that would stay within my price range and purple color scheme and would really compliment the space at Salvage One. Up until the day of the wedding I had not seen any of my flowers, I chose not to have a sample bouquet made to save money. When they bouquets were delivered (VERY ON TIME I might add), they were beautiful. Like I said, I'm not much of a flower person but I liked them and people who are really flower people complimented me as well. Good job! The centerpieces were awesome. The reception venue is very ecclectic and random so the flowers fit that to a tee. A couple different arrangements were spread over the 23 tables and they looked so great. One of the reasons I picked Flora is that they were willing to work with "non-large wedding party" brides. Several other places I called would only work with $2000 or more budgets, particularly in the summer months. Flora welcomes budgets and orders of all sizes, and for that reason I will be a regular customer even after the wedding. Chuck, the manager, sat down with me in the middle of winter 6-7 months before the wedding to help me plan my August wedding. He was very knowledgeable on what flowers would be available during which season and which flowers worked best together. He offered ideas that were a perfect blend of what I was looking for and what he recommended. Suzanna was by far our favorite wedding vendor to work with. My wife and I walked in and were instantly charmed by the space. Neither of us knows anything about flowers and were looking for someone to own the entire process, not simply deliver the flowers someone already knew they wanted. We quickly reviewed the requisite details: budget, theme, space, colors, size of wedding party, etc. After that was out of the way my wife brought up a Pinterest board on her iPhone and Suzanna immediately went to work. Suzanna had helpful suggestions, she took our inspirations and custom crafted them to work within our budget and space. Flora handled everything from the runner at the ceremony, decorating the cake (with fresh flowers), and of course amazing centerpieces. Suzanna was not pushy, but refreshingly honest if she felt something wasn't going to work. She was able to keep us on budget without compromising the look we were going for. We didn't spend too much of our budget on flowers, and my wife and I never once felt like there were other weddings bigger than ours that were more important. Suzanna was responsive to email, often times with quick replies after business hours. Even after our wedding she reached out to ask if we were satisfied she was even able to point us in the right direction when we asked about flower preservation. Lastly, only a week before the wedding we asked for a special request. We asked for my grandfather's wedding band and a picture locket to be attached to my wife's bouquet. It was by far the most creative arrangment I've ever seen using pitcher plants and thistles and dark purple cala lilies... it was perfect! and the perfect gift for the person I had them delivered to! It was exactly the color, look, and style that I wanted. I LOVED it. Negatives: 1. The bridesmaid bouquets were gross. Instead of a dark pink color (which was in my bouquet) the flowers were a Pepto-Bismol pink! I was also looking for a certain style (only one type of flower in each bouquet) and I got anything but! 2. They didn't give my wedding planner enough rose petals to sprinkle on the reception tables or down the ceremony aisle. So instead my planner had to quickly come up with another plan and I didn't get the rose petals down the ceremony aisle. All in all, our wedding was beautiful and I loved every minute of it. But if I had to pick the florist again, I would go with someone other than Flora.
