If you're looking for large specimens, hard to find palms, agaves, then visit Flora Grubb Gardens. I first found out about this place when searching for nurseries that carry Ceroxylon palms. I called & asked if they have any in stock, & the employee said no, they haven't had them in a couple years. I also was told to email the buyer for any special requests. I appreciated that, because the plants I am looking for are always hard to find ! I visited this nursery for the first time & like other yelpers mention, it is easy to miss !!! Literally when exiting the freeway, it's immediately on the left. If you're not driving too fast you'll see it. Also the entrance is on mindinao way, which can be confusing for first time visitors. During my weekend trip it wasn't busy at all. There was plenty of parking & the nursery does appear small but once you wonder inside & get to looking, there's a lot !! I wouldn't say they are the cheapest, nope. If you're looking for the cheapest Bismarckia Nobilis palm, do not get one here. Just from looking at their inventory they are priced higher than most. I was impressed to see they have a large furcraea macdougallii specimen & a large brahea armata. Also other notable species I came across: Brahea Clara, Phyllostachys Nigra (black bamboo), agave celsii nova. I ended up purchasing a Caryota Obtusa which I'm so excited about. I felt like I paid a tad more than if I would of waited, but I saw the palm & wanted it immediately. When the employee loaded the palm in the car, I was surprised to see the pot wasn't covered (the top with plastic wrap) to help keep the car clean. Hopefully they see this as an opportunity for improvement. They also carry a small selection of indoor plants, & leca is also sold here. I wasn't impressed with their nutrient section at all. I would visit here, but only if I'm looking for something so specific that no where else has.

Dear Yelp Community, Visited for the first time during January. One of the most beautiful nurseries I have visited. Also, a mobile coffee shop (and multiple spots to sit throughout the nursery). Enjoy, and well wishes! Sincerely, Anna

Great garden center in the middle of a highway on ramp intersection. I bet you've passed this place saying, I want to go in there one day. We'll make today the day! I always thought that this was such an odd placement for a garden center, but you want to go in. It's a lot bigger than it looks. The prices are reasonable, the staff is very knowledgeable and they have a great selection and some plants you don't find in other garden stores. I like to stop in here from time to time to see what's new and pick up a new plant friend.

Just bought this cool little bonsai at Flora Grubb. They have some interesting plants, like a golden jalapeño plant and a burgundy ficus that we are considering for our shady front porch. The employees are knowledgeable and friendly, and the garden center is attractive and well-organized. Deducted one star because the plants, overall, are kinda boring, drought-tolerant plants. I liked Marina Nursery's selection much better. We only stopped in to get small terracotta pots. Parking lot was quite empty; it used to be very crowded before the turnover. Also, our favorite landscaping manager is no longer there. When we went to buy the bonsai, employees seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves and doing inventory than helping us purchase a $104 plant. We had been standing there for several minutes, and I finally had to ask if we could pay for the plant and leave. Just okay. Definitely not our favorite garden center.

    Lots of planters and pots!

Beautiful nursery with a stunning collection of plants and pots! I used to frequent Flora Grubbs in San Francisco, so when I found out they were opening an LA location during the same time as my move back to my hometown, I knew it was pure kismet. Like many loyal Flora Grubb fans, I purchased a few small business bonds to help crowdfund this LA location. The energy and people are clearly passionate about what they do, so I couldn't help but support! The gardens are beautiful with a decent selection of edible plants, California natives, ornamentals, and indoor plants. The selection is perfect for those working on a backyard project or for those simply looking for a gift. While I was at their grand opening, I purchased a 1 gallon Meyer lemon tree, 1 gallon fragrant pitcher sage, 6" Cedros Island verbena, and a bag of soil. Prices are affordable with comparable curations to boutique plant shops, but the prices of a small nursery. My only negative was the small selection of seeds. I would love it if they could supply more California native and cover crop seeds. Maybe a collab with the Theodore Payne Foundation is in order? Complimentary parking and car assistance are nice perks.

Thank you Flora Grubb for offering unique, beautiful, thoughtfully curated native plants that actually belong in our southern California gardens. I am often tempted in other nurseries to buy what looks good vs. what my not-so-green thumb might be able to nurture. Also thank you to Derek who showed up at just the right time (you know when you don't think you need a cart...) and helped me along with tips and advice for the many items I took home with me. Amazing customer service. You know you're in the right place when one of the plants you've chosen has a mushroom hitch hiker! (photo included)

Mickey Hargitay Plants is the coolest little big plant store, plant nursery, garden center and serene landscaping places I've ever seen. From the pure vibrant vibes to the incredible staff that make this gem thrive. Tucked away in Hollywood on the cusp of West Hollywood off of Sycamore Ave and Fountain Avenue, just a small skip east from La Brea Avenue. They're open from 9 AM until 5:30 PM all 7 days of the week. And carry plants, planters, gardening essentials and wonderoud things of all shapes and sizes. I've been passing by frequently for nearly two months on my way to work usually before they're open or after they're closed on as I make my way home and finally got to stop in and explore. That wave of calm, relaxation and vibrance that being around nature and all it's planty goodness lives here in abundance. Explore in person, place orders for pick up or even delivery. We decided to clean up the area so we could host an important family event, and our search led to Gio and his team. He responded quickly, and we discussed what we were looking for in re-purposing the rear 1/3 of our property. He described his vision and methods, and provided a very reasonable quote. We decided to move forward, and we left it up to him to provide and plant what was needed to create a perfect space that was both functional for entertainment and really pleasant to just relax and enjoy. Gio and his team did not disappoint. He met (and exceeded) our expectations, and stuck to the schedule and budget. And he didn't just create planter areas and new lawn, he also installed a paver walkway to match our existing patio stones. When he was finished with the original scope, he offered to maintain the rear yard to make sure our investment (and his hard work) would continue to look as good as the day he finished. He is not a typical "mow-blow-& go" gardening service. When he and his team arrive, they look around, see whatever needs care and attention, make everything right, and leave every inch of the yard neatly trimmed and clean. We are looking forward to asking Gio and his team to re-imagine and transform the side and front landscaped areas of our home. We can't recommend him enough.
