I saw this place on my way to Whole Foods, and since I'm kind of a little plant obsessed, I had to stop buy to feed my mild addiction lol. What made me stop dead in my tracks to stop here was the huge ponytail plants outside, which they have plenty of!!! I ended up buying a different ponytail palm than I usually do and some air plants (they're so adorable). Maybe cause it's in Santa Monica that's why the prices are a tad bit higher, but I can't stop at a plant store or nursery & not buy anything lol. They have a decent variety of plants, but not too many of the ones that I'm looking for. I'm really into Calatheas and different variegated plants. They say that they get them sometimes, but not many. So I'll just stop by from time to time to see what's in their inventory. The staff was pretty knowledgeable and I appreciated that! read more

I truly love this little plant shop. They have made my dreams of being a plant mom come true. The selection of plants is wonderful and their prices are not bad either. I love finding cute little unique succulents. I also love their selection of pre-potted succulents that come in the cutest pots! They even have plants potted in crystals, how awesome is that?! I will say that their pots can get a little pricey depending on what material they're made out of. The shop staff is pretty friendly for the most part, kind of quiet and reserved at times. We found a gorgeous pot for under $30 that was just like one we had seen at a fancy furniture store for $57! There is a sizable selection of younger plants under $10 if you're starting out and/or want to grow your own to full size, and owner Virginie is a true artist. She'll even help you re-pot, clean, and style your purchase before you head home. No, when it comes to plants, great quality and incredible service are not a "cheap" undertaking, but if you're looking to learn a lot and get gorgeous plants at a fair price, there is nowhere else to look. What a find! We decided rather than buying a fake tree or small tree for the holidays we would attempt a year round decoration with succulents. We selected a beautiful deep blue square pot and they said they could pot whatever we choose. The employee was so patient- I don't know if others spend as long as we did selecting the perfect combination of succulents for our pot. We couldn't be more thrilled with how it turned out. He treated each succulent with care and attention. Our total was $35 - Super reasonable prices and quality as well as knowledgeable and friendly staff. Highly recommend. We will be back! In short: This is the spot. Jake is the plug. That is all. In long: For some reason I decided to move during a pandemic, and my new home was in desperate need of vibrant plant life. I went to a few plant nurseries in the area and felt extremely disregarded at each. But when I walked into La Belle, a gentleman named Jake was immediately receptive in welcoming me and asking how he could help. I gave him an outline of my vision and he pointed me right towards the plants and pots that would be the most fitting options. It felt marvelously collaborative and creative, I'll definitely be back and referring all my homies to Plant God Jake at Labelle. PS: He was playing Gunna and hip hop which had me even more hype. It is a great shop because the staff are very good and helpful and the delivery team are awesome. Enjoy going there and looking around - again the workers on the ground are fantastic. Have never interacted w the owners who are generally on site but don't engage w customers in my experience. BUT... I bought several of the large VERY EXPENSIVE white pots with the saucer dishes to put under them... And they leaked and sweated moisture through and literally destroyed my hardwood floors! My bad for assuming that cost equals quality - I assumed they would be well made and safe to use and I did not get any advice to be more careful and add another protective layer under the saucer. I guess it is because the bottom of the pots and saucers are not treated likes the sides and inside so the moisture sweats through to the floor and carpet. Going to cost me thousands of dollars to fix! read more

I think we know each other now bc I have gone about 4 times in the last 2 weeks this shut down has opened my eyes to many plants.... the collection of plant babies they have great indoor plants, as well as outdoor, cactus and cute succulents! I've been to this store twice, picked up plants on both occasion, yet, the experience I had has been hit or miss. On my first visit, I wandered the store for a good 10-20 min with nobody once approaching me to ask if I needed help (which I did). I ended up having to look for someone to let them know I'm ready to check out. On my second visit, I had low expectations, but was surprised that the service was good: I was greeted, and was checked on. When I selected my plants and vase, and was ready to check out, they were prompt on potting the plant and even assisted with getting it into my car. Could I get the same plants relatively cheaper at another local business not too far from there? yes. Would I come back to this store? For sure, but only if the other store I typically go to for plants doesn't have what I'm looking for. read more

I was hoping to buy a dangling plant of some sort and an air plant for my bookshelf, as well as a floor plant for my living room, and a large monstera for my bedroom. I found most of what I needed. However, I was struggling to find a pot in the store that could fit the plant I wanted for my living room. I also needed help getting down the dangling plant I was interested in. I had hoped to talk to someone about different options I was considering, which plants were lower maintenance, get help finding a pot, and retrieving a hanging plant. I was wandering around this rather small property for AT LEAST an hour..... not one employee assisted me. I started getting frustrated and social anxiety about how I looked loitering around there looking at the same three plants for an hour, and ended up leaving empty handed. It looks like a solid shop that could've met most of my needs - minus the monstera because they only had tiny ones or giant ones priced at around $350. Interesting that most people raved about the customer service because I got none lol! Honestly, I usually discount customer service low ratings at businesses because if the product is good, I usually don't care. But that was just a bummer situation. Had a sudden urge to buy an aloe vera plant and succulent. Don't ask me why. I don't even know. I just had to buy them. I usually buy fake plants but today was the day I decided to become a real adult. I found La Belle on Yelp by looking through their pictures and it seemed to cater what I needed. Parking was vague as La Belle was located on the corner of the intersection. I ended up parking at the hamburger restaurant lot - which isn't wise since they have explicit signs saying they will tow your car if parked for other businesses. (Maybe I'm not really adulting today after all) I was greeted by Charles as he peeked out from behind a few leafy plants while I was mildly browsing through an aisle of succulents and cacti. I looked through a few potted ones and some of them caught my eye. Like the wooded lavender painted pot that held together some pale green succulents outlined with a faint pink tip. The color palette of the pot was nicely put together for the plants. I ended up going for a nice potted aloe and had Charles pick out a succulent for me. Told him I wanted a colored pot so he led me to the back area and told me I could pick one from the shelf. I picked a pale lime green pot and he carefully replanted my succulent into the new one, adding more soil and also asked me if I'd like some white rocks on top. Overall the whole experience was about 10 min and he was very kind and treated each plant with care. :) The price wasn't too bad for the two + new pot. I think I'll be back once I get them to survive at least a month with me. read more

I've read over most of these reviews and honestly that was the reason I had decided to walk over fr Santa Monica (my husband and myself just relocated to SM after a decade in NYC) to la belle nursery! I was really excited to see there array of planters. I went solo and took a long walk from SM to Venice to pick up lunch for my fam @the Win~Dow on Rose and then circle back on my way home to La belle. I certainly didn't have the same experience everyone else was raving abt. The guy working there seemed annoyed when i asked for assistance and even tried to put away the items i was debating. Every time had a question I had to go to him in the little box of a register where they have a small seat where he stayed like a king on his throne. I spent a good time perusing my items and deciding what planters I wanted to splurge on. The small planters i had picked were easily 30$ each and the plants an additional 10$ (they were pretty small) but again i strive to support small businesses. After careful consideration i picked up a 85$ tab on two small house plants. I turned to pay and realized my 50$ bag of food had disappeared (they have two sizeable areas to mix and match and pot plants) from the counter. I asked him if he had tossed my lunch. He responded with a "yeah" proceeded to pull it out of the trash and hand it back to me after tossing it face down. I was in disbelief and mortified. ( two burgers, two fries, two fried chx sandwiches) half was missing but it was more the fact he pulled it out of the trash and gave it back to me...) i was so shocked that it didn't even dawn on me he never gave me a bag for my purchase but instead gave me an awkward box. In his defense i should have requested a bag but was still reeling from the garbage situation... he probably thought i had a car and was going to put the box in it. Unfortunately I wasn't I was walking. Long story short the box dumped out and my planters broke. I Requested to speak to a manager or get the owners/managers email. He would not. to this day I still cannot get any contact info and was humiliated by my experience. read more

They gave us advice on each and every plant we bought and even offered advice on plants we have at home that need a little extra love. This place is great! I love it! So far I've brought in 6 plants I found at the 99 cent store to be repotted and fertilized here at La Belle. Their prices are fair and the customer service is amazing! I met Charles the first day, and then I have had the pleasure of working with Jake my other two visits. They were both very personable, but I had more time to talk with Jake and he has been nothing but helpful, patient, social, and really fair. He repotted each of my plants, fertilized, and watered them. He gave me advice on care when I take them home. He even added some colorful rocks (I got to pick the color) to my succulent plant as a little bonus. I think that's nice. Little things make a big difference to me. The store is well taken care of and the plants are healthy. They have a wide range of interesting plants. They have a ton of neat looking succulents. The arrangements they have put together are super visually appealing, and there are some really cute planters. Once I get all the plants I already have taken care of, I will definitely be coming to La Belle to get a couple new goodies. I saw a couple succulent arrangements that are calling my name. My favorite part about coming to La Belle is there is always something new to see. It is my favorite nursery on the west side. Parking is always easy (yess!) and the staff is happy to help you load up your car with any purchases. They have the most beautiful selection of pots around and their selection of cacti and indoor plants is impressive as well. What stands out is the quality of all the plants, materials and service. The prices may be higher than your typical Home Depot but the quality of the plant and pot is much higher. A huge bonus is they'll pot your new plant right there for you! read more

For sure, the best nursery in the area! Please don't waste your time with another shop as La Belle Plant has the best selection, customer service, and prices. I met Victor during my first visit. His willingness to assist and provide stellar service was surprising as that is so rare in Santa Monica. Another spot down the street which also sells cactus and succulents had ridiculously high prices, and a man - who appeared to be the owner - was so rude. On my second visit, Felix helped me choose three succulents and offered to hold them (for me) until my planters arrived. They can even pot the plants for you! My third visit, I brought one of the planter and Victor assisted with choosing the correct amount of soil needed. He was careful loading all in my car and even provided instructions on how to plant the succulents to ensure success. This place will sell you plants poisonous to your pets and then argue with you when you bring it back. My fiancée had asked on our first trip for a plant suggestion that was dog friendly and low maintenance. She was shown a ZZ plant which we liked and picked up. After getting home, a family member informed us that this plant was actually very dangerous for pets. Upon returning with the plant, the staff member was incredibly rude questioning our sources and insisting numerous times that the plant was safe. I mean there was no way that was going to able to hang from was drywall. I came the next day to return it; Felix was not having it. He became sooo upset, and he said they don't return potted items. Which is totally understandable, BUT Felix was the one who told me this would work. If I knew how heavy it was before I left trust me I would've said something feels like 50 pounds and the pot is concrete. Being I'm not experience with buying plants he reassured me that I would have no problem hanging this plant. So I asked to speak to the owner; he said "they're currently out of the Country" come to find out that's just a line he tell everybody.. you don't believe ? Check the other comments. Good value, but not inexpensive. If you search Amazon for Indoor Plants, one of the first selections is a 4 foot Areca Palm at $19.95 with Prime free delivery. Alas, this company cannot sell in California. With this price in mind, I dropped by La Belle looking for something comparable. Sticker Shock! Anything in the 4 foot range was $49.00 or more and a presentable pot with saucer was even more. So you won't find a deal, but you will friendly people who will spend a good amount of time with you to understand what you want or what you need and provide very smart suggestions. If you are making an investment for the long term, your plant will need to be potted in a larger container with good soil to allow the roots to grow. They will pot your plant for free with care and expertise if you buy their container. There is no charge for the potting soil either. Your container will be cleaned and your freshly potted plan will be packaged in a white bag to ensure no soil spills in the car on the way home. So bottom line, you'll find beautiful high quality plants and great customer service and you should expect to pay a little more for the value. read more
