This is my first time getting my haircut here. I showed Lina a picture. Thirty five minutes later, the longest I've had ever, the haircut was done. She obviously took her time to match the picture. One of the worst haircut experiences that I have ever had happened here at 10am this morning. When I walked in there were 4 other gentlemen waiting. Each haircut took almost exactly 9 minutes, as if there were a buzzer overhead. The maroon fisher price "my first ghettoblaster" played smooth koit for all to hear as one by one each man had his haircut before me and I sat patiently waiting. Now I have had my fair share of bad looks thrown my way over the years, but this place seemed to be full of them. Each old man took turns staring at me like I was naked and singing bad folk songs. So I just sat their silently waiting for my turn to come, hoping at some point they'd just stop staring at me. I have no clue to this day why they were mean muggin' me. Johnny sloppily chopped at my hair for the prescribed nine minutes and what remained at the end was mediocre and had strands that were uneven. Maybe the man is loosing his sight, but he seemed to do a decent job on his regulars. Maybe he memorized their regular haircuts and has kept repeating them for the last couple decades. All I know is that I must of pissed everyone off somehow, because I was the only one who didn't get cleaned up with a straight razor and he overcharged me three dollars, even though the price is on the wall and I saw everyone else get their change. I seriously have no clue what I could have done to deserve such awkward treatment. I don't know what it could be. I was silent the whole time and I wasn't picky about anything. I didn't even mention being overcharged. All I know is that this experience sucked. This place is not a place that I would recommend for anyone. I don't think they like dealing with new customers and they sure don't seem to be able to handle anymore work than what they have now. I recently moved to San Leandro and was looking for a local barber shop. I dropped by this shop on a Saturday morning and was greeted by an older vietnamese gentleman by the name of Steven. He cut my hair perfectly using the traditional tactics of a barber (razor blade, shaving cream, etc.) Steven was very detail oriented and took his time cutting my hair. Now, I've been going to this barber since the Bayfair Barber Shop days. (I was 12). Hair was always the main thing I was self conscious about, and Johnny is the ONLY BARBER I trust with my hair! He uses the old Razor & hot shaving cream to trim the edges, and can cut perfect hair! He's a little older (70's) but he's the man! I was one of hist first regular clients when he first cut hair in the Bay Area (He came from Manila). And I think at one point EVERY Filipino dude in the BAY AREA was getting their hair cut by him. (I feel partly responsible for that). But if you go to him, be aware that you'll more than likely wait in line...EVERYONE WANT'S Johnny! I can say this, cuz I'm one of THE select FEW that get the VIP treatment there. =) read more

I don't have a lot of hair and I wear it very short so for me it's an easy cut with the razor, 3 on the top (there's not much there), a 1 on the sides and backs then line up around the ears and along the back of the neck. The wait was just a few minutes. This is a nice little shop with 3-4 chairs, friendly barbers, and very good price ($12). I'll be back. read more

It had been well over a year since my last cut and my mane was out of control. This guy hit the spot. The shop is over 50 years old. This guy said he had been there for 16 years but has cut hair a LONG time. He looked to be in his mid to late 60s. He was friendly and took his time on my simple cut. His experience was evident in his efficient movements. I will be going back here for sure. $12 for a cut. Cash Only. I got in and out during lunch hour. And I love my new haircut. Hooray! read more

I was sadden to find out mang Johnny is no longer running the shop. It's run by another gentlemen but the experience and atmosphere is no longer the same. Half the reason why people go to barbershop is also the atmosphere. Sadly, with mang Johnny no longer here it's not the same. My husband usually cuts his own hair, but due to some injuries is unable to do that right now. We made an appoinment at the shop next door, but after 15 mins of waiting in front of a closed shop in the rain, we decided to come here. I remember a man named Johnny used to run the place, but he's no longer here. The husband and wife who were running the place were very friendly, and accommodating to my husband's needs. Tatay Jonhny is the best! My husband has been going to him for the last 7yrs and does not trust anyone but Floresta Barber Shop. The wait could be a long time as Tatay is the only one in the shop, I tell ya he is worth the wait!
