Dr French is ok if you have a cold or need an annual physical or something routine. But anything…read moreelse and he'll tell you, and I quote "I'm just a family doctor, I don't know how to help you". I heard this twice from him when I was begging him, desperate for help (referrals? Another different test to do? Disability paperwork filled out) This man made everything so difficult for me that I would have panic attacks and not be able to open his secure message responses to questions I asked for days. Because the answer was always "no" or him doubting me or making this process of trying to get something complicated diagnosed even harder by making me argue for every single thing. Like filling out short term disability paperwork when I was going on FMLA leave. Everything was already hard and he made it harder. The most recent time, when I called to ask their office manager what to do when the doctor can't help, I got a certified letter from Dr French firing me. Dr French wants to do the basic work and then go home and not think about his job or his patients. I kind of think he wants to not think about his patients when they're in the room too. He can play like he listens and play a good doctor, but when it really matters, he'll let you down every single time.

This is actually a correction to a previous review The…read morereview I had posted earlier Was a mistake It was actually meant for another clinic altogether and I had posted it here by mistake I felt I got a fair evaluation during my dot physical I have non-insulin treated diabetes Which means I take non-insulin medications to control my diabetes They just wanted a recent A1C test from my primary care physician And since it was at or below 10 I passed So they didn't get ridiculous with their requirements I was able to easily find out what was required over the phone before I even showed up for the visit They basically just check for hearing, vision, numbness in the feet and hands, because diabetics can lose sensation in their feet and hands as a result of elevated blood sugars as well as excess protein in the urine Which can indicate kidney disease (It can also be a sign of a high protein diet such as low carb) Diabetes can destroy nerve endings Causing diabetic neuropathy So that's why the feet and hands are checked for numbness I've had DOT physicians ask for ridiculous things like a recent eye exam, a note from my doctor about my blood pressure, etc That's not even necessary if you pass the eye exam and blood pressure test during the exam If a person fails the eye exam while wearing their corrective lenses then by all means they should ask for a recent eye exam to make sure there are no eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy, Glaucoma and other conditions that can be complications of diabetes So they didn't ask for unnecessary things as part of my physical Which didn't put any undue burden on me as a CDL holder I feel that a DOT exam should be focused on safety for the driver and for all of the other drivers on the road And I felt that my DOT examination was just that It was about safety, not about putting and unfair burden on me, by inconveniencing me with unnecessary requirements I have also had dot examiners lie to me and tell me that things that they were asking for were legal requirements when they were not I have even been asked for a sleep study by other DOT physicians And I was told that it was law that I had to have one Which is not true That's actually nothing but fat discrimination Because skinny people can have sleep apnea too That did not happen here at afc So yeah if you're a non insulin control diabetic, just get a recent A1C from your doctor and take it to your visit And if everything else is good Like blood pressure, vision, etc You should be fine

Do not expect to feel taken care of at this primary care. Let me start off by saying Dr. Wakefield…read moreis an incredible doctor- the problem doesn't involve him at all. His staff could not be more unprofessional. I have been going to this office for over a year and two months ago I started having really unusual neurological symptoms that arose from an area in my spine. Dr. Wakefield ordered several MRI's for me, including for the brain and the spine. When my MRI came back for the spine, something was detected and I was told I needed to get another MRI with contrast to rule out a lesion or tumor. Over these few weeks my symptoms have progressed to where it is affecting my ability to walk and even ended with me having to go to the ER because I lost feeling in the left side of my body. As I await this next MRI, my husband and I kept getting calls from insurance telling us that they needed the doctors notes and previous MRI test results to go ahead and approve the MRI with contrast and that they had had trouble getting ahold of anyone from my doctors office about it. Because of this, I have politely tried to explain this to a few members of staff. Never once have I been rude or raised my voice-- that is not the type of person I am and that's not in my nature. I got a phone call today from the office manager Janet who was beyond dismissive of me and made allegations that I was "harassing" her staff all because I called a few times requesting the information to be sent to my insurance company for them to proceed with my MRI. I am so incredibly discouraged with my treatment at this office. I have been nothing but kind and respectful to the nurses I hear speaking about other staff members and patients right out in the open, which is incredibly unprofessional in my opinion, and it is beyond incomprehensible for the manager to not take my issues seriously- she told me they cannot "drop everything for me," which is not something I have ever expected or requested of them. I just simply wanted insurance as well as my doctor's office to work together and submit what they need to in order for me to get proper health care. It seems like that is too much to ask for from the staff here at Norwood. I have also requested numerous times for a phone call with any of my test results, and the nurse refuses to do so even after being asked by Dr. Wakefield. I do not always have access to the portal so a phone call in the midst of the scary symptoms I have experienced to let me know where my health stands should not be a tall order. I feel like I am being pushed out of this office, which is incredibly confusing as I have never been a problem or cause for concern, and I have been nothing but respectful to the staff when I have been experiencing very poor health care. Threatening to discharge a patient over them POLITELY requesting that paperwork be sorted with insurance is a very bizarre move and really had me taken aback. People that behave this way should not be a part of the medical field or deal with people struggling with health issues. Looking at reviews on here, it doesn't seem like I am the only one and this is a recurring issue. Sadly I will be seeking a new doctor. I hope that the staff at this office is retrained to learn how to speak to concerned patients, but something tells me that won't happen.

I wanted to share a concern about my experience during check-in for my procedure…read more When I arrived, I was informed by the front desk that I had a $45 copay. I explained that I was not told about this when my appointment was confirmed, and because I was coming in for a procedure, I did not bring cash or credit cards with me. The front desk staff member said she would speak with Dr. Edmunds. When she returned, she stated that if I could not pay the $45 copay, I would need to reschedule because the office is cracking down on collecting copays. She then asked if I could borrow the money from my driver. Thankfully, my driver was able to help me, but the situation was very frustrating and embarrassing. My concern is that I had already taken the day off work, followed the preparation instructions, fasted, arranged transportation, and showed up ready for my procedure. To be told at that point that my procedure could possibly be canceled over a $45 copay was very upsetting. I completely understand that offices have policies regarding copays and patient responsibility. However, if those policies are going to be strictly enforced, I believe patients should be informed ahead of time, especially before a scheduled procedure. A courtesy call or reminder letting the patient know the amount due at check-in would help avoid situations like this. I am not refusing to pay my copay, but I do feel the communication could have been handled better. Patients should not find out the day of a procedure, after fasting and making arrangements, that their appointment may be canceled due to a payment they were not made aware of in advance. I hope this concern can be reviewed so future patients are properly informed before their procedure day.
