We found this place on open table and made a reservation for dinner. It's absolutely adorable and charming from the outside with the little balconies! It's located right in the heart of downtown with plenty of parking but we were able to walk to and from our hotel. We picked this restaurant for the seafood and ended up trying the halibut and a few other items. Overall we had a good time and would go back anytime we are in the area again. read more

Haven't been to Floriana in a while, but unfortunately the portions are so small now. $30+ dollars for a small dish of pasta, a little protein and some sauce. The flavors are still wonderful and the service exceptional but I can't justify the prices for pasta dishes, even if homemade. This problem isn't just at Floriana, but most restaurants in the Wilmington area. I imagine a lot of restaurants aren't going to make it through 2026 without some major changes. read more

The server was kind and welcoming but she recommended a dish that was just "okay" the squid ink pasta It was bland and needed salt and pepper. I want to leave a review for not only how good the food was but more importantly how kind and helpful the staff were. My dad is in a wheelchair and it makes getting in and out of restaurants very tricky. Sarah was two steps ahead in getting us in the building and accommodating us. Our server (I can't recall his name, some tattoos) was a gem and was very attentive. It means a lot to be able to get my dad into places that are old and have character and Sarah made my evening by helping us make that happen. My boyfriend and I visited for my birthday! We got a meat and cheese board as an appetizer, but did not love it. The bread and pesto were AMAZING. I got the shrimp and scallop risotto and he got lasagna we both enjoyed our entrees. Our server was nice and brought us everything we needed. Advice for the balcony: We had no problem snagging a balcony on a Tuesday evening. However, I wish we would have waited an hour to eat. The sun was in the early stages of setting when we first got out there and it was HOT and a little miserable lol. But you can't beat the view, and by the end of the dinner it was a perfect temperature. I don't regret the balcony but I wish we would have waited for the sun to set a little more first. Firsts things first - the pesto. It is the best we've ever had. It taste great with the bread and even paired with the burrata appetizer. We were lucky enough to score a private patio for 2 on the water with amazing views and a hint of romance, but be sure to make a reservation if you want to guarantee it. Our meals were phenomenal (risotto and lasagna), and I bet you the dessert would've been fantastic, but we were stuffed! Definitely coming back for the espresso mousse next time. The food was very flavorful and interesting. My partner and I had two different types of gnocchi and were delighted with our choices. I enjoyed the variety of Italian wines as well. The waiters were roaming around us non stop making the time unpleasant. Two of the waiters hit my chair and did not bother to even acknowledge it. Then I spotted next to my table a big cockroach crawling. I waved at one of the staff and he hit it with the foot towards the kitchen while telling me" you know, it is an old building". My wife's dish and my dish had only 3 tiny peaces of fish... for paying $34 a plate I would have expected a bit more fish and elegance in the dish. The desert was amazing, tiramisu and gelato were out of this world, but the coffee was worse than gas station coffee. Went for brunch on a Sunday morning - it was too hot to sit on the charming outside balcony tables but the atmosphere inside was very nice. A formally set table with a linen tablecloth which is something you don't see alot of anymore. It's an old historic building but very well kept. Our server was very courteous and pleasant. We were surprised (positively) about the prices - VERY reasonable for the quality of the food. It was obvious everything was made to order. Having arrived in town on Mother's Day Sunday and in search of a place for two starving folks to get a good meal, we stumbled upon this gem and felt lucky to get a seat without reservations upstairs in a small room that had one fairly large table already seated. None of their adorable two-seat balcony tables were (understandably) available. But we did soon learn that being inside near those balconies meant constant server action to get out to them. Let's just say that they were busy and probably didn't need us arriving. But we were patient, and were rewarded with sangria for me and a bourbon drink for Husband while we very patiently awaited our meals, after we patiently awaited ordering them. We finished our drinks and decided to order a red wine for me and a straight bourbon pour for Husband. They arrived and Husband's glass was super dirty. He NEVER sends anything back and he couldn't deal with this. Finally caught Server's attention and it was finally fixed, but Husband was more apologetic than they were. Food finally arrived. Lobster hash for me. Wonderful! I loved it. Very subtle flavors that allowed the lobster to shine. Husband's Italian Sausage omelet was, well, an omelet. He wolfed it down in about three bites and I could tell he was still hungry. (He was wishing he had ordered the $5 upcharge biscuit.) Much to the chagrin of our Server, we ordered Tiramisu and a coffee for dessert. Meanwhile everyone is leaving/has left. Tiramisu comes out fairly quickly (and is terrific)...but coffee doesn't show up until it's almost finished (and we ate slow trying to wait). Then it took awhile to pay and leave. Almost thought they had completely forgotten we were even up there, as everyone else had left. They gave me calamari that wasn't cooked all the way, I've had better at home. Their burrata ravioli was DRENCHED in olive oil with no other flavor than the olive oil itself. It was like a soup of olive oil and the ravioli barely had any burrata cheese in them. My wife ordered a steak that was cooked well but covered unnecessarily in cherries and cherry sauce that honestly ruined the only good thing that came out of the kitchen. Everything was overpriced for what we actually got quality and proportion wise. There are so many better restaurants to eat in this area. Go to Elijah's instead. Floriana was the highlight of my impulsive decision to travel overnight to Wilmington from Virginia. As with all of my travels, I wandered out to find a dining location that looked good. I almost immediately spotted the little balconies around Floriana with an amazing view of the beginning sunset. I saw a few open balconies just an hour and a half out from closing time so I decided to step in and see if I could grab one for the last hour or so of the sunset. The staff was so friendly and informed me that the 2 person balconettes are first come first serve and I could have one for my meal. My view was impeccable on the riverside. The balconies have little doors that they close, so you are truly secluded, but in the best way. Aside from the other balconies of course. I ordered a cocktail- the 1602 made with an arugula simple syrup, gin, elderflower liqueur and lemon. It was perfection. For appetizers I tried the blacked gnocchi and mussels. The gnocchi was fantastic. Flavor filled, but not too heavy. The mussels were a generous portion that I was unable to finish knowing I would be ordering an entrée. I think this was my first experience ordering mussels where every single one was cooked perfectly and there was not an empty or closed shell in sight! I ordered the filet mignon and asked for a red wine recommendation. I was given a nice Sangiovese and my steak was cooked to perfection. This meal was truly one of my favorite meals..like ever. I'm sure the ambience added to the overall enjoyment, but the chef and the kitchen here truly know what they are doing! The sunset gave a wonderful performance and when it was finally done, the café lights on my balconette turned on and I ordered (don't judge me) a chocolate mousse and German chocolate gelato, as well as a champagne style brut and a decaf espresso. . The chocolate mousse was very light, but I cannot say the same of the gelato! Both were fantastic, but obviously I didn't not finish both desserts! 10/10 would recommend. Service was outstanding, food was on 1,000 and the ambiance was perfection. I did peek inside the dining rooms as there are multiple seating areas, and it was just as charming for larger groups or inclement weather. It was an audible called by the wait staff when the chicken was out. Out of chicken? Seriously? Good cocktail and wine selection. Booze is important to the Tim man. FYI on the lunch menu. The portions were small. Even though the food was good, we left hungry. Service was okay, not great. Bottom line: Floriana served up a tasty meal of Tortelloni Mignon on a spur of the moment decision to dine here. Great location at the end of Market St along the Riverwalk. More of a 4.5 star experience. I am a fan! The Deets: I went exploring down along the Wilmington Riverwalk area at the very end of Market St, and looked at the menu outside of Floriana...looked very promising so I decided to go in for a late dinner. The host was very welcoming and she asked if I minded going to the bar area on the first floor to sit since I was solo, and I accepted...I usually like the bar so a good guess on her part. Apparently reservations and groups go upstairs to a dining area as well as the balcony tables that are made for two. I took a seat right at the bar instead of one of the high tables, and looked over the menu one more time to confirm my decisions with a nice pint of Wilmington's own Waterline Brewing Co. Hefeweizen. For starters I got the Caesar salad, and it was very good (if splitting hairs, only thing was some of the croutons were mega mega hard but the salad was great). For my meal, I chose the Tortelloni Mignon (pasta with tenderloin and a tomato cream sauce). When it came out, it looked delicious and it was very much so when enjoying every bite of it. It was perfect size portion and presentation. I definitely would enjoy this again here. The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the pre-meal bread...it tasted a bit bland and not even the accompanying mustard could help liven it up. I can live with that for the wonderful taste of that Tortelloni Mignon that came after it though. My bartender/server was good in making sure that I had what I needed as well as positive, friendly, and attentive. I had an overall good experience here at my impulse meal here at Floriana with around 4.5 stars, and I would like to try their brunch some time...maybe in one of those balcony tables? Their wine menu is extensive, but they do offer a good selection of cocktails, and a few local draft beers.
