I had an excellent experience renting from this family-owned business today. The price was reasonable ($25 for 24 hours)---less per day if you rent for multiple days. They met me at the Old Venice Train Station at the appointed time and then again when I returned the bike about 3 hours later following a 36-mile roundtrip up to Sarasota on a warm late February afternoon. Would I rent from them again should I find myself in Venice and in need of bike for a long ride? Indeed, I would. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Called up told them what I wanted. Within one hour I had a brand new geared Bicycle-and a helmet-and a lock. They drop off the Bicycle's and pick them up. It couldn't be easier. The owner, Zach is friendly, helpful, and down-to-earth. Prices are incredibly reasonable. Wish I had rented from them the first day I arrived instead of using some very beat up bicycles that some friends lent us. Venice is a City for walking and for biking-my strong suggestion as rent as soon as you arrive. And my stronger suggestion is to rent from Florida Bike and Beach. read more

Had an overall wonderful experience with Florida Bike & Beach. From the moment we called to reserve our bikes their service could not have been better. Pleasant person on the phone. They delivered the bikes to our house and picked them up the next day, and the price was right in line with other places. Zack who dropped them off was also very pleasant and fun to talk to. I have rented from them twice now. Easy to use. I called and had a bike delivered to my hotel within an hour. Yes, they drop off and pick up. They have helmets if you want one. I believe they only have beach cruisers at this time but I spoke with the owner and he's looking at expanding the options in the near future. Maybe some hybrids??? My only complaint is that I didn't notice the bike didn't have a bottle holder. That would be a nice add on. Very friendly service. I had a great experience two years in a row now. Oh and affordable too. I rented a bike earlier in the week up in Inverness for $25 for a few hours. I rented a bike from Florida Bike and Beach for $45 for 4 days. I highly recommend them. read more

Staying at Oscar Scherer State Park. Picked up their brochure at the Park Ranger office and called twice hoping to rent 2 bikes. Got voice mail and left messages. Messages were not returned. We rented the bikes from a bike shop on Rt41 bypass. To be fair, last year we needed a bike repair. They responded quickly with a fair price. So use your own judgement. read more

Prior to departure the tour guide assured me and my 18-year-old daughter that we would be back before dark as it was illegal to ride wave runners after dark. We selected the Sunset Tour option with this understanding as it was the first time I had ever rode a wave runner and neither myself or my daughter have ever rode one in the gulf which is quite different from a lake experience where we live. The tour guide was very nice and explained how to operate the wave runner to me and did a great job accommodating my daughter and myself during the tour. However, on the way back we were in complete darkness and could not even see the signs to tell us the information needed for no wake zones etc... The tour guide had to pull out his phone to see what the signs would say and I felt we were in a very dangerous situation. We did not get back to the dock until 9:20 pm - this was over an hour later than scheduled. It was a very scary experience and I had asked the tour guide how many sunset tours he had done and he said that this was his first one. I believe he was around 19-20 years old which was not an issue except for I would question what type of training he has had on time management as this experience could have resulted in an incident due to the risks of driving these wave runners in complete darkness.
