Issues / technical difficulties forcing single tracks with massive delays and inconveniences on a far too frequent basis. Third world country train service; Miami deserves much better. The escalators and elevators at various train stations often do not work either. Do not count on Metrorail to be operable and have a backup plan (Uber) at all times. I would give Metrorail zero stars if that were an option.

But it is very similar to what other cities call Subway. I guess since Miami can not run much underground construction, the MetroRail is all above ground. The one way ticket is $2.25, but you can get a full day pass for $5.65, which allows for unlimited transfers between metrorail and buses for one full day...if you get a $2.25 ticket, you will have to pay another $2.25 when you transfer. We loved how clean the trains were, the AC was working very well when we got on. We were even a bit cold inside the train. The signage on approaching stations is very good and the maps and routes printed on the inside of the trains are very useful. The Metrorail offers one easy ride to get you where you need to go. Be from Downtown Miami and Brickell to Coconut Grove and South Miami as well as a quick trip to the airport. There are two distinct rail lines that depart from the Dadeland South station on US1. The Orange line ends at Miami International Airport and back. The Green line runs further up north with connections to the Tri-rail and Virgin MiamiCentral. There are stops along each route at many of Miami's top attractions such as Coconut Grove, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Brickell, the Lyric Theater, Hialeah and more. Metrorail opened in 1984 and it is Florida's only rapid transit metro system. It is composed of two lines of 23 stations on 24.4 miles of track. Metrorail serves the urban core of Miami, connecting Miami International Airport, the Health District, Downtown Miami, and Brickell with the northern developed neighborhoods of Hialeah and Medley to the northwest, and to suburban The Roads, Coconut Grove, Coral Gables, and South Miami, ending at urban Dadeland in Kendall. Metrorail connects to the free Metromover in Downtown, which provides metro service to the entirety of Downtown and Brickell area. Additionally, it connects to South Florida's commuter rail system at Tri-Rail station, as well as Metrobus routes at all stations. In 2021, the system had 9,708,200 rides.

I asked in the main administrative office next to the station and the guard was helpful in guiding me to one of the ladies in administration. Sabrina was great in helping me with the paperwork, taking the picture, and processing the card through the computer downstairs. She went way beyond the call of duty by personally walking me to the train station ticket vending area and showing me how to fund or reload the Easycard. She set a great example of customer service at Tri-rail in South Florida. What a wonderful experience! She's a great asset to Tri-rail.

Now the other train service called Bright Line had a special shuttle that was nice vs a free bus, but you had to pay for that ride and pay quite a bit for a ticket. The Tr-Rail ticket was $5.00. I didn't feel that the ticket purchasing system was user friendly. I tried multiple times and was charged three times before someone assisted me. The funny part is that no one asked to see my ticket on the train. They allow commuters to bring bikes and they took up a lot of room which left little room to get by. Many people saved a seat with a bag and would not move the bag to open a seat. There were 15 or so boys running back and forth throughout the ride and kept bumping into me. Not one said excuse me or I'm sorry. They had no staff on the train that I saw. Overall it was an ok ride but not comfortable and I will look for alternate rides next time.

Not that I'm complaining, considering it's convenient for when I'm visiting friends who live at the apartment building right across the street. Standard security courtesy of MDC Transit, the elevator here is out about 40% of the time, and the escalator is almost always going up. Good enough, it's a metro station.

This particular station has connecting bus routes to downtown and connects to the 595 express that takes you all the way to Sunrise in Broward County. Additionally if you are going to Marlins park and you don't want to get stuck in traffic and avoid 20+ dollar parking this is a great solution. You can park your car at any Metro-Rail station and get an all day pass and come to this station and the marlins shuttle (the 55 bus) will take you to and from the Stadium. They have shuttles running from the Stadium to the Culmer Metro-Rail station from prior to the game up to 2 hours after the last pitch. Also pointing out that riding public transportation is great for the enviroment and helps decongest highways. Great work Miami-Dade Transit!
