It is always hard for me to review breakfast because you can only do so much with bacon and eggs, but it was good. The service was good and the prices were reasonable, especially for the area. We generally stay in Marathon, so it is a bit of a drive, but definitely worth it especially on days that we are not out on the water early. read more

This is a cute little cafe that is a perfect spot to dine in the morning! We had a very attentive waitress that kept our cups filled and was friendly as well. We all ordered a variety of foods ranging from a breakfast burrito to the big breakfast. It was all delicious! The wait time to get in was about 15 minutes, but we had 7 people so that was just fine. It's a smaller cafe so if you have a big group it might take some time to get in. Lovely place if you have a chance to go some day! read more

Small place but do not let that fool you. Food was delicious and they had a good selection for such a small place. Only open from 7-2 and with my experience with places like that, they're always the best! All the staff were so nice and friendly! All of them were smiling even during the very busy morning rush. I will preface the review with it was a very busy Father's Day. Packed, really. Our party of six only had to wait 15 minutes though. The waitresses were super busy with take out orders as well. All of our food was tasty. The only issue was that we waited at least an hour in between ordering and getting our food. We thought maybe our server had forgotten to enter in our order because another table had gotten their food much sooner than us, even though they were seated 20 min later than us. Stuff happens. Hey folks this ain't a breakfast joint at the Ritz. This place is exactly what I thought it would be, a keys diner on mile marker 30 something with good chow. Also, where can you hear a conversation between two servers at 845am talking about drinking wine and Jack Daniels to celebrate their Saturday evening lol. Food wise, I ordered pancakes and bacon, Belgian waffle and bacon, a bagel, a sausage and cheese biscuit with some home fries all to go. I drank some coffee and chit chatted with the servers which I enjoyed. They triple checked my order and I was gone. The pancakes were huge and my son couldn't even finish them. He loved them. My sausage cheese biscuit was a monster, see pic. Great recommendation from one of the servers. The biscuit was like a red lobster one but with no cheese, no garlic taste or parsley. Same type of consistency. Very tasty. Overall good food for a good price too. I think I paid 29 and change minus the tip. I highly recommend this place BUT if you are looking for a fancy, squeaky clean, restaurant with butler style service don't stop here. Keep going to the tip of Key West where you will find what you are looking for and pay 15 bucks for pancakes and bacon. Decent little spot in Big Pine, with one heck of a comical waitress who has to be a "biker", she was tossing key limes at me which tasted great. I grabbed the Blackened Grouper Sandwhich that runs about $8 or so, and it was good. I give this place a low rating not because the food was bad in fact the food tasted really good but because I was overcharged and they forgot an item that I had ordered and paid for and really didn't wanna throw out the racist card but I'm gonna need to so worried this just be aware that they will overcharge you. So ask for an itemized bill so they can show you exactly what they're charging for and if your skin color is darker than an eggshell white just beware that you probably won't be treated well. read more

I was looking forward to the prior menu from Cracked Egg but was not too disappointed. The breakfast menu was simple and simply delicious. Pancakes, eggs, sausage gravy omelettes all yummy. Love that this place is just a house with tables and chairs, and chicken decorations all over the place! Very relaxed island atmosphere, cheap and pretty good breakfast. It was also filled with locals so that is always a good sign. I had the pancakes and they were fluffy and cooked well. However, they only had Winn Dixie syrup- which I have no problem with, but at least put it in another container! LOL. Oh well, but I guess that just shows their chillin' attitude. This place is so much fun! Good place to go if you are leaving Key West, driving towards Miami and you are hungry. About 30 minutes outside of Key West, and had a great crab cake sandwich and excellent strong coffee. The waitresses were real people with fun cool personalities. I liked it here, there was really fun signage outside and fun references to eggs and chickens all over the wall! A really colorful place with good basic food. read more

4 Stars for food and service. Would have received 5 if they would serve Cheeseburgers before 11:30. I mean the place isn't even open past 2pm. In addition, Guns N Roses blaring in the kitchen isn't something I want to hear at 9:30am...well maybe I do. Let me drink another delicious Bloody Mary first. We followed the reviews and ate here after being told "I wouldn't go there" by the private visitors center down the road. I told the lady it has a lot of good reviews. She said go for it then and we did. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. We had traditional breakfast. Everything was cooked perfect. The bacon was thick and crisp and the pancakes were some of the best I have had. Like another reviewer said, "don't judge a book by its cover". If they'd dress up the outside a little, especially the highway side and I am sure they'd get A LOT more drive bys. Unfortunately people these days judge by looks alone. Great family run place. Had the Big Breakfast with a side of grits. Was alone so I ate at the counter. Friendly staff (6 generations of Florida key-ers), my over all meal was awesome! I'm not a fan of pancakes, so I wasn't real happy with mine. Biscuit and gravy was 5 stars, as was bacon and eggs and hash brown, made with onions (my request). This is one of those places you will drive past without a blink, don't be discouraged by the plane exterior appearance, it's great food, friendly local patrons, and great service. Stopped here on the way from Key West to Bahia Honda. The first thing we noticed is that it's spotlessly clean! The next was the super friendly service. We had a great brunch. Corned beef hash, pancakes, and I had a BLT with a biscuit on the side (I wanted to try them!). We all liked everything and would def recommend it if you are passing through. read more

Great place for breakfast or lunch. I had the mini gut buster: potatoes with sausage gravy & biscuits with an egg on top, it was wonderful. One Friend had the Philly Cheesesteak with a side of French onion soup and said it was all excellent, another friend had the breakfast burrito and loved it, and the sausage links were amazing. Our waitress was friendly and the bus boy was a very polite young man. Prices were very reasonable. After a couple of nights in Key West, their food really hit the spot. My friend and I were road tripping along the Overseas Highway and stopped here for breakfast. It's a little unassuming, sea green-colored house off the highway, and shares a sign with the Big Pine Motel. The tables and chairs and wall kitch will remind you of being in your grandma's house, or something - if your grandma really liked chicken-themed stuff. But the food, my god, the food. Everything on the menu sounds amazing, and everything we ordered WAS amazing. I got this stuffed french toast, and the "stuffing" was a thick, creamy raspberry sauce. It was super rich and amazing and I could eat it every single day. My friend got a Greek omelette that was HUGE and fluffy and loaded with feta and vegetables and came with toast and grits. Our total bill was under $20, and everything was amazing. If I could airlift this place to Chicago, I totally would. read more

Went here with my wife on our way to Key West based on all the positive reviews. Here's a summary of what occurred that has resulted in my two-star rating: 1. The place is dirty. I understand you could say that's because it's a "hole in the wall" but seriously, from the ketchup bottles that look like they've never been washed, to the general dirty atmosphere, it made us wonder what the kitchen looked like. 2. One guy who must be a local went into the kitchen twice to return his coffee cup and his dirty plate. Why was that allowed? 3. A sign outside said "Tell your waitress you love eggs and for any two egg order receive a third egg for free." Cool! So I ordered the french toast with two eggs and bacon meal and told my waitress "I love eggs!" only to be told "OK well I'll have to ask the owner if it's ok...you're not a local, are you? The locals don't read that sign so the owner is going to think I told you to say that for the free egg." Huh? 4. My wife ordered the same french toast meal and asked if she could try replace the blueberry french toast with the raspberry creme-stuffed french toast, the answer was "No, the chef can't do that." Even if you charged us an extra dollar or two? Really? I could go on and on...the place caters to locals who must have no idea what a bad place this is (I think there is only one other breakfast place in Big Pine) so they make their money off of them and those that stay at the motel next door. read more
