Bruiser had his annual last week and I reminded me he should have his teeth taken care of. Dr. Legori's staff has the most loving staff who genuinely care for your fur babies and you! I dropped my Broobie off when they opened and was told exactly what needed to be done. I received a call later in the day and that everything went well. There was no, "He needed this or this happened that cost $200 more. " Very simple, we cleaned his teeth, had to extract 2. Much as I expected. I later picked up Broobie and brought Mama Bisc with me. She walked around the house all day lonely without him. Of course she was hesitant to go in thinking she was going in for something! We were greeted with lotso love. Biscuit was so excited to see his Broobie when they brought him out. Kisses and loves all around. I cannot think of any Veterinarian and staff who show this much love and patience for their clients. I love that if something were to happen in the future, I could call and get in right away and receive the upmost care, because they care as much as we care for our fur babies.

They guided me through two of the most difficult moments of my life with patience, dignity, and heartfelt compassion. Their care didn't end with my dog - they also showed sincere concern for me after their passing, offering comfort and support that I will never forget. Losing a cherished pet is heartbreaking, but having a veterinary team that truly cares about both their patients and the families who love them makes all the difference. We first met her and the staff at the hospital when our regular vet was out of town and our 10 yr old girl Sophie (yellow lab / german shepherd mix) stated acting funny at home and became very very bloated. We called several places and Santa Cruz was the only vet clinic who answered and told us to come in. The end result was Sophie's abdomen was twisted and Dr. Stanton did emergency surgery, which saved Sophie's life. We ended up having Sophie for two more years before we lost her to cancer. We credit Dr. Stanton and the staff for this extra years. Since that time our vet retired and we have remained with Dr. Stanton and Santa Cruz. She has seen us through the loss of Sophie, the additions of Jackson, Stella, Emily and now Virgil (all rescues)! She also helped us to say goodbye to Sophie, Jackson and Stella when their time came. I can say she and the staff were compassionate, supportive and understanding during those times. Being honest, I will say they are more expensive than some others, but the care is exceptional. They have always found a way to fit us in when we had a concern or worry and Doc took the time to speak with us by phone when necessary. You can't go wrong with the doctors here.

I also really appreciate that they never pressure you or make you feel uncomfortable if you choose to decline or postpone services. Our dog recently had surgery here, and everything went smoothly. The only drawback was the interaction when we dropped him off. The technician who received our dog came across as somewhat nonchalant, which was difficult given that my wife was feeling anxious due to a previous traumatic surgical experience at another vet. His tone, expression, and checklist-style approach lacked empathy and reassurance, which would have gone a long way in that moment. That said, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a follow-up call the next day to check on our dog, which was very thoughtful and appreciated. Overall, this is a great veterinary practice aside from that single interaction. I'm willing to give the technician the benefit of the doubt--perhaps it was just early that morning and/or he was having an off day. We plan to continue bringing our dog here for his care.

This…read morewas the appointment for the last booster for my kitten And this was my first time going there with my kitten. I have been going there for over 25 years when I had dogs and was excited to be able to go back there now that I had a kitten because I really love the care and how they treated you and how they were upfront with all the charges back then. But this was not the case on my first visit with my new kitten. I asked if I should get the wellness plan and the technician said well it shouldn't be that much of a charge it is not worth to get that so I did not. Dr. Rubenstein came in to check on my kitten. He said that it looks like I did not get the feline leukemia shot for my kitten so I called the place where I got the kitten to find out if it was done and it was not, so I decided that I would get the shot then done since I already had the appointment scheduled at Care Animal Hospital. But then I was told that they would have to run a test to see if the kitten had leukemia before she could get the shot and that would take 30 minutes so I went ahead and had the test done. They came out negative and then got the leukemia shot And then when I got the bill, it stated that this was just an initial leukemia shot, but that was never mention from the doctor or technician at the time when they recommended that I should get the shot that it would be two shots and the next one would have to be done 30 days from today. So I went to the front desk to pay and I said how come I couldn't get on the wellness plan this was not what I expected to pay today and I did ask the technician to be put on the wellness plan and they said it wasn't needed, and he was there when the doctor explained the leukemia shot should have been given as well today. As a first time patient, you would think they would explain the wellness plan to you and get you signed up for it, but they did not. I was very disappointed on how they wasn't upfront with all the charges and not letting you know that they would be also a second shot that was needed until you read it yourself on the paperwork. This is not the same veterinarian that I used to go with when I have my dogs. It's so sad to see this place to turn into a business That their name that says Care that they do not care. This is no longer a personal practice that was run by Dr. Kane as it still implies by the veterinarian signs. It is run by a corporate group called Home Veterinarian group. That explains the poor service and disclosure of fees. It is no longer about Care but about the $$$$.

Jim, will have no problem gaslighting you when things go wrong. Incompetence, mistakes, negligence and a cover-up took place while I was there, and it caused prolonged suffering for my cat. They are a family-owned business, so that gives them so much incentive to lie. There are no cameras in the rooms, so they can lie all they want and make you seem like the one who is crazy. They offer people $5 for leaving a review, so that's very disingenuous. Jim is basically just a figurehead. He is not a medical professional. Dr. Carroll is the one in power since she can make things up, and he will side with her since he is not knowledgeable. Even after showing Jim a photo of my cat's unhealed eye, he was still not competent enough to realize that Dr. Carroll messed up or lied about his condition. If the manager cannot oversee the mess-ups of his employees, then who will? * I wasn't told about the other treatment options for entropion. * During the appointment for his vaccines, I mentioned I was worried about him still itching after the surgery. Dr. Carroll told me it could be allergy related and brushed it off as something we could handle later. It should've been handled right then and there. (He was itching a lot more after.) * After his operation, I realized his private was red and looked very sore. He was having trouble peeing and was in constant discomfort. Dr. Carroll told me it was sticking out while he was under anesthesia. She said she lubricated it and put it back in. Dr. Carroll didn't stick to one story. * 5 days after his surgery, he scratched at his stitches while eating and caused a tiny tear. When I came in to get it checked out, it was 7 days after his operation and Dr. Carroll decided to remove the stitches. * Dr. Carroll told the manager that Klaus had removed most of the stitches himself. If that is true, why on earth would she not re-suture his eyelid? * The next morning while he was eating, he did one little swipe at his eye and the eyelid tore open. It clearly happened because his stitches were removed far too early. I blamed her for the extent of his injuries after she removed his stitches too early. I was told to come in the next day. The only reason why they didn't take him in that day was because they were busy. I am highly disappointed I wasn't advised to go to an emergency hospital with him since a wound that deep can get infected. * Jim claims that as a "courtesy" I was not charged for his re-suturing, which is false. I called stating that I was not comfortable paying for something that was caused by Dr. Carroll. I was told I still had to pay for the equipment and medication, so it was not free of charge. * Dr. Carroll lied about my cat's condition. She pretended to put the fluorescent stain on his eye and said he didn't have an ulcer. There was no green in his eye when she had me come over to look at his eye. The reason why she did this is because I complained to the manager about her not scheduling a revisit for my cat's eye since it wasn't fully healed. I showed a photo of my cat's unhealed to Jim, and he still took her side. I ended up scheduling a visit with my previous veterinarian. When she checked his eye she said there was an ulcer. * Dr. Carroll was not successful with his entropion surgery. * Dr. Carroll claimed he didn't need surgery for both eyelids when he did. She originally stated that he did, but then changed her mind. * They claim to have recommended an ophthalmologist, but that's a lie. * Also, Ashley, the veterinarian technician, may seem very nice and sociable, but she is a major participant in Dr. Carroll's mistakes and lies. In a previous visit, she was the one who told me the Oculenis was for repairing the eye. She said nothing when Dr. Carroll said it was just a lubricant. She was also the one who took part in the cover-up. She was in the room holding my cat when Dr. Carroll pretended to put the fluorescent stain in his eye. She even backed up Dr. Carroll by saying something along the lines of "the redness just being vascularization." All I had asked for after the terrible care and prolonged suffering that my cat had to experience was a full refund and for them to pay for his allergy testing and the first round of possible medication he would need. Jim said no to everything. I had asked for all of this before the last appointment when Dr. Carroll lied about my cat's eye being healed. Also, Jim, if you're reading this, just know that your father, who was the founder of the place and also an actual veterinarian, would be ashamed of your incompetence and lack of care towards patients and clients. He didn't die and leave this place in your hands for you to abuse your power and potentially ruin its reputation due to your inability to oversee your employees. That's only if he wasn't like you and actually cared.
