Mala's planning was terrible (for example, the bridesmaids were all lined up, ready to go for the ceremony, and Mala had NO IDEA who was supposed to go first, second, etc. She had to ask the bride for the procession order, literally 5 minutes before the wedding was supposed to start. Talk about adding stress to the bride, instead of alleviating it !) Mala missed many crucial details at various stages of the wedding planning. She also fired the caterer at the last minute, just so she could hire her friend to provide the food. Lastly, (and unforgivably), Mala apparently had to catch a flight out of town on the same night as my friend's wedding. She had asked the bride ahead of time , could she leave the wedding early. The bride said no, I need you to stay for all of the events (typical Indian wedding with multiple events, with outfit changes and everything). Mala agreed to stay for the entire wedding event. Then lo and behold ! The night of the wedding, guess who snuck out of the wedding hall... yup, Ms. Mala Bakshi. She left the wedding and didn't tell anyone and left the bride and groom to fend for themselves in terms of wrapping up with the vendors and cleaning the venue. So unprofessional. Do your research and find another wedding planner. Oh, and Congratulations! If you are reading this, you are probably getting married :-)

As a person who is not in the industry, even I know it is common sense to have someone on standby for such hiccups. She was accommodating to me when it came to my nerves, however that not the only thing I needed accommodations for. I had a phone appointment with Ruchir and he never called. I emailed to make sure there was no misunderstanding in the appointment time. No response. By the way, I never received a calendar invite, which is what I would expect from any service professional. And, from what I understand (and feel free to correct me with real numbers) the day of wedding planning package costs $4,000 and full planning costs $10,000. That is insanity. If this is what the "amazing" wedding planners are like: poor communication, lack of response, poor organization skills, and charging at least $4K per wedding, then I am in the wrong business.
