She arrived with an assistant to set up the kitchen and even prepared a tray of delicious snacks for us to enjoy during her lesson. We had so much fun making cheeses and butters and snacking on crudites we were so stuffed we skipped our scheduled lunch. Another bonus was that Michelle even cleaned up the kitchen afterwards (my least favorite thing to do after cooking). I cannot say enough good things about her cooking lessons. Although we did not have access to a stove/sink/etc., Michelle made the class worthwhile by teaching about knife skills, how to select produce, working with herbs, etc. After the workshop, she split us up into two teams for an "Iron Chef"-style competition. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the staff, one of them I believe was named May, and she was incredibly sweet. Everyone was welcoming and gave clear directions to head to the back for the class. Once I got there, the owner was leading the session and greeted me right away. My best friend had arrived earlier and saved us seats close to the instructor, which made the experience even better. The owner was so patient, kind, and attentive throughout the class. The class itself was very beginner-friendly and easy to follow. She walked us through each step, making sure everyone felt comfortable and confident. It was such a fun and relaxing experience. You need a ticket for the event and are not let inside until 2 minutes beforehand. Then your ticket will be scanned and you are told what table to sit at. I thought it was nicely decorated inside but would have preferred less people in at a time as my table was near some of the food so that made it hard to get to my seat. So maybe next year, the tables can be arranged differently. Some of the desserts were good and others just so-so but with an all-you-can-eat, the best quality desserts likely are not an option. I'd be happier with less and better quality if there was a way to select two or three items instead. The hot chocolate was delicious but the toppings didn't all seem like they would work well in it. I tried peanut butter cup in it but it just sunk to the bottom and didn't melt. I did like that water was brought around at the end to help with the sweetness. I had the best time this morning! I signed up for a class because I wanted to try something new,…read moreand Ryan was the perfect teacher. Before she taught us how to make a lidded vessel, she gave us background information on clay and ceramics, which I very much appreciated. Some of the classes use a pottery wheel; our vessels were hand built. Ryan took us through the process step by step, with lots of visuals and assistance. The class was supposed to be two-and-a-half hours, but she was so efficient, and her instructions were so clear, we got out early. Our pieces need time to dry, and we'll be coming back another day to glaze them (or Ryan will do that for us). We'll get to take our finished vessels home in a couple of weeks. The studio is a mostly-open space that is full of student work and Ryan's own pieces. She teaches lots of classes there, including vase and mug making, and they fill up quickly. She has a charcuterie board class coming up soon, and I'm very interested!

I am an intermediate potter from CA. I enrolled in the beginner's wheel six week class from April…read moreto May. On week five I was told I could only bisque fire four pieces to glaze on class six. I left my pieces and a list of them ( as requested by the sub) with Nate's substitute teacher. Today on class six, I had no greenware to wax or glaze. Therfore, I was not able to finish any pieces during the six week program. I was told on class six that my pieces were more than 1/2 inch thick and that they " had not been placed properly on the greenware shelf for bisque firing. Therfore, I will leave the$250.00 session class with no greenware ( bisque) or other finished pieces. During all wheel sessions student potters were also required only to work on wheels with bats. Prior in other schools we were not required to use bats or to meet only 1/2 inch specifications for firing.
