Excellent private tour of Ebeneezer Creek and the Cypress/Tupelo blackwater swamp. 4 hour paddle with a knowledgeable guide. Saw some snakes and a juvenile gator (from a safe distance, LOL). Zero bugs. Who knew that highly acidic black tannic swamp water prohibits mosquitos breeding. Definitely a recommended paddle.

This was hands down the coolest thing I did while traveling here! The owners were so nice and accommodating. We rented Kayaks and spent three hours exploring the beautiful Savannah river. I would recommend Backwater Expeditions 10/10 times!

However, I've never taken a trolley tour until this past September when we visited for a few days. We had several hours to kill on a Thursday and my history loving husband suggested we take a trolley tour and I thought why not? It would be a great way to see and learn more about the oldest city in Georgia! We chose the hop on-hop off tour, which is 90 minutes long. The tour begins each day at 9:00am and the last tour leaves at either 4:30pm or 5:00pm depending on the season. This tour goes through 14 stops and a trolley comes by every 15 minutes or so. We hopped off pretty early on to explore one of the squares by foot and ended up walking around, getting coffee, and shopping for over an hour. We hopped back on and stayed for several more stops, but had to hop off once we got closer to our hotel. We appreciate that you have the freedom to "customize" your tour experience. The tour was very informative and enjoyable! We loved the addition of historical characters who hopped on at different stops. The actors did a phenomenal job. Highly recommend!

We did the 75 minute historic tour of Old Savannah. Check in was a breeze and all employees we encountered were lovely. Our tour guide/driver, Irish, is a Savannah native and shared some of her personal anecdotes and gave us an in depth history of the squares and history. I learned a lot more about Savannah during this tour and would highly recommend!

The house is also on the National Register of Historic Places. I was lucky enough to get a ticket and tour the property this year! Frank Lloyd Wright designed the house to fit in with the area's unique landscape. He worked on the project for over twenty years up until his death. The property was in bad shape and close to being torn down before Joel Silver, a Hollywood producer purchased it. Silver with the help of Wright's grandson restored it and completed it to Wright's original plans. The property is on 326 acres (you do not have access to all of it) but bring your walking shoes as there is a lot to see!!! Plenty of parking is available on the main road and then you walk down to the gate to check in and make your way up the driveway. The tour of the main house is guided with a group of 12 and you are taken to certain rooms to view. Photographs are not permitted inside as it is a personal residence but outside you can take as many as you like of the house and the grounds and other buildings. The house is very unique with the copper downspouts that are to resemble Spanish moss to the angles in the house boards that represent the slopes of oak trees to the hexagons just about everywhere. Even the gardens are on an angle. The pool was added by Silver as was the sculpture garden and the theater room. If you can score a ticket to visit this gem, I highly recommend it.

With that being said, upon researching the area, Dan's tour came up as almost unanimously the best thing to do in Savannah. To say we learnt a lot and had a great time would be an understatement, Dan gave us a broad overview of many elements of Savannah's rich and diverse history. We were visiting from Florida, so we knew it would be hot, but as it was a very shaded route with plenty of stops it was not an issue. As Dan advices on the website, pack water, and sunscreen. The walk itself is very dog friendly and at a leisurely pace suited to all levels of fitness. Finding dog friendly activities is always high on our list, and plus the wealth of knowledge and passion Dan has it was a no brainer! Due to the heat, some other guests had to reschedule their time, so we were lucky enough to have a private tour, which probably would be worth an additional star on its own! Dan as a host was witty, engaging and brought Savannah to life. We have already recommended Savannah Dan to multiple people and will continue to moving forward.

Our Charleston based tour planner and staff at our Beaufort B and B raved about Janet's tour and how she brings the city of Beaufort and its magnificent homes and history to life. Unfortunately her delegate who gave us our tour on June 5 was UNACCEPTABLE. I believer we would have enjoyed our two hours more just walking around on our own. We learned more of Beaufort's history, houses and residents on our Dolphins Adventures Tour than we did with this replacement guide. There were only 4 of us on the tour and the guide spent the entire time talking with two phd child psychology students, a couple, trying to impress them with his knowledge of their field of study. He spent more time on this than talking about Beaufort. We traditionally love walking tours as it allows for engagement with the guide etc. We were ignored like we were not even on the tour zero engagement the exact opposite of every other one of our tours on our two week trip. . A church was unlocked for us to walk in. Unfortunately a number of others sauntered in the open door and we had to wait a good 15 minutes while the others moseyed around the interior used the bathroom (queued) etc. as our guide had to wait until they left. Because he had to lock up.
