I rarely write reviews, but this florist absolutely earned it. I live out of state and needed to send flowers to a friend in Denville for her birthday. One thing that was important to me was ordering from a true local florist rather than one of the large online flower brokers. After some searching, I found this shop and placed my order online. The problem was that I placed the order well after the cutoff time for same-day delivery. Shortly after ordering, Todd called me personally to explain that their driver was already out making deliveries and that it was unlikely the flowers would arrive that day. I told him I understood and mentioned that it was for my friend's birthday. That's when Todd said something I don't hear very often anymore: "You know what? I'll make sure your friend's flowers are delivered today no matter what." And he did. In a world where customer service often feels automated and impersonal, this level of care and commitment is incredibly rare. Todd went above and beyond to make sure my friend received her birthday flowers on time. To top it off, my friend sent me a photo of the arrangement, and it was absolutely beautiful. She was genuinely impressed, and so was I. Outstanding customer service, gorgeous flowers, and people who truly care about their customers. I will never use another florist in the Denville area, and I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a florist they can trust. I ordered a bouquet for my mother-in-law's birthday and was absolutely blown away by how beautiful it turned out. I shared the color palette I wanted, and they created something even better than I imagined. The bouquet was stunning, elegant, and looked like it should have cost two or three times more than what I paid. We had a birthday dinner for her, and I used the bouquet as the centerpiece for the table. It instantly elevated the whole setting, and everyone admired it throughout the day and evening. It truly made the celebration feel extra special. Beyond the flowers themselves, the staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. Their shop is also beautifully decorated and spotless, which made the whole experience even better. I really had to post this about this floral shop and its owner Todd. I found them by googling florists in Denville I am so very glad I did. They are going to be the florists for my daughter wedding in Kinnelon. Todd and his assistant Kathy are not only knowledgeable, but extremely pleasant and nice. My daughter and I felt at ease with them and they worked with us to fit our budget.. They were honest,, which was very refreshing. Store associate advised us to place a very large $244+ arrangement, which includes roses and hydrangeas etc., in a wood box for extra charge. Associate advised us to get small rose buds and she promised would bloom in a couple days. Upon arrival and inspection, some flowers came in with dry and wilting petals, and leaves with holes (maybe sun damage or from insects). Wooden box was found next day with severe leak under it trickling onto the floor. Reached out to owner. Admitted the quality isn't up to par, and also admitted the faulty job, as he states, these types of flowers shouldn't be placed in water foams as they don't do well, next the floral arrangement is too large for the box. Surprisingly despite this, he blamed us for choosing the wooden box even though his store associate was the one who took the order and advised to get - otherwise the wooden box wouldn't have been known as an option if she never showed it (it's an extra charge). Then he tried saying maybe it was wet because it was moved in car during transport. We are only a few minutes away from the store, and the floral arrangement was too heavy and long to be moved side to side in the car (an engineer drove the car). He dismissed previous description that the box when picked up was already wet and also got hands wet but didn't pay mind to it as trusted them and their quality. Also ignored the previous detail that mentioned that the arrangement was sitting still on a table and we found the puddle next day when I almost slipped on our floor from the water trickling down. When we returned the arrangement, we even filled it back with water to demonstrate to them the error of the crate they provided. You can gather the theme of his responses. He was gaslighting us and speaking to us like we are weak in logic to not understand simple physics and cause and effect. He kept saying he's been in business for so long with great reputation, insinuating this dismisses any possibility of fault by his associates. Unfortunately for him, he was speaking to a Biomedical Device Engineer and an Engineer Liability lawyer, where we clearly understood the fault of the material and we aren't phased by the peacocking. We stayed very kind, humble, and calm through conversation, even empathized that despite the experience we are understanding mistakes happen and that we aren't there to question his abilities, only a refund for the circumstance. We have water damage on our $$ table, which comes out of our pocket. We never got to receive the services paid for, as troubles started right when received it. And the roses never bloomed. Still despite not only the bad experience of the services but also the bad experience in his response and customer care, he first offered partial store credit (which we didn't want to continue future business due to the way he tried to turn it around on us). Then he haggled to refund only $150, keeping $144 so we can pay for the materials used that his associate messed up; we didn't accept. Frankly, the kindness has been a 1-way street and rightfully so, it should come out of the associate's paycheck who made the mistake, not shift financial responsibility to customer. He has the luxury to be on vacation during our hell of an experience with our floral arrangement, while my husband has been working tirelessly to make up for this expensive loss and to purchase something else for a belated anniversary gift. It sucks to say something like this, but the large arrangements we got from whole foods that costs 15x less, had better quality of flowers, it stayed alive for weeks, and customer service is phenomenal. Even Kings Supermarket's beautiful roses were always large, no damage, and stayed alive for a month! This was the first time my husband purchased from a high-end florist in this town, and it was definitely traumatizing. Even though supporting local businesses is great, next anniversary, I'll be cheering him on purchasing it at big box stores. read more

This is truly a fantastic florist and their customer service is amazing! Todd, the owner of Flowers by Candle Lite is passionate about flowers and very much hands-on with day-to-day operations. He makes sure that his customers are thrilled with the arrangements created by their talented floral designers. Candle Lite is very reasonably priced for such beautiful work! At first, I was worried that their low prices meant fewer and cheaper flowers (ie floral catfishing and disappointment at delivery), but this was definitely not the case. You can have full confidence that you will receive what you ordered and not some sub-standard version of the picture. And if you price-compare other flower shops in the area, you're actually getting more than you pay for with Candle Lite - really beautiful pieces for prices that should be much higher. My grandmother passed away at 99 after a wonderful full life, and I was in charge of the flowers for her service. Since I live in Houston, I was nervous about finding the best florist in the area, and I succeeded by choosing Candle Lite with all their great Yelp/Google reviews (which in my case turned out to be well-deserved)! The funeral spray, easel spray, wreath and several bouquets were all AMAZING!!! My pics don't do them justice because we had a Zoom service, but you can tell that there are lots of flowers and all pieces do look like their pictures on the website. The professionalism, empathy and sincerity oozes! Here's my story: Today is my daughters 17th birthday. We set out very early this morning to go practice parallel parking one last time before her drivers test. She aced it so we arrived at the DMV early for her appointment and she was taken right away. Her perfection must have diminished as we crossed the street because she BOMBED and failed her test. By the time I got to the car the mascara was running all the way down to her pretty dress. She's now starting her senior year as a failure in her eyes. She hung her head and walked into school with her embarrassment. I quickly got on the phone to call Flowers By Candlelight. I can't say enough about this excellent florist. They did my entire wedding and everything was PERFECT! Marlissa did the designs which looked amazing. Church pews, alter pieces, etc. were understated but beautiful--perfect for church. The Bouquets were fresh, not too heavy and matched the dresses very well. The centerpieces and ballroom looked phenomenal, flowers and candles everywhere. Every little detail was taken care of and every corner that needed to be decorated was! From the first meeting George, Marlissa, and their staff, had their act together. They were supportive and helpful when I had to make decisions. They recommended certain in-season flowers to help save me money (but would have ordered anything I wanted). They knew all the right questions to ask. I had the pleasure of working with Kathy, the most amazing Design Consultant, recently. My niece went into labor unexpectedly and delivered a beautiful little boy. Both my brother and sister-in-law were on a business trip and unable to come back from their trip to the hospital the same day that my niece delivered her son. I was called into action to be the 'stand-in grandparent' at the hospital so family would be there to support my niece. I needed to drive 3 hours to Long Island and I wanted to bring some special flowers. Having received flowers from Candle-Lite several times, I called them to see if there was any possible way to get an arrangement that morning. I was greeted by Kathy on the other end of the phone, who understood my situation and immediately put me at ease by doing what I thought would be the impossible! I have known Michael Scannelli (who will no doubt be a future Mayoral Candidate for the City of Denville) for many years and called to asked for his recommendation for a good florist. He said "Hands down the best florist in Denville is Flowers by Candle Lite!" He said to ask for George but when I called George was not available so I ended up talking to Todd, George's son. Todd was excellent! Friendly, easy to talk to, made great suggestions and was very enthusiastic. Excellent Customer Service! I had my order filled within 10 minutes and later that day my friend called to say how happy she was and that it was the most stunning flower arrangement she had ever seen. How lucky was I to randomly call Candle Lite Florist in Denville and have the pleasure of placing an order over the phone with Todd. Todd was extremely professional, patient and very kind. He guided me towards the perfect choice of flowers for a sympathy arrangement. We started our Business in IL almost 5 years ago and we have come across many experienced and knowledgeable florists; however, this is the first time we come across a humble and professional florist with many years in the business willing to help. I am so disappointed in the owner of candle light ... Last year my husband got me 2 dozen lavender roses for Valentine's Day I liked candle light they had done hosiptal flowers in the past so he dove almost 40 mins to use them,my roses wilted in 2 days I called and the owner wanted a pic so he could get a credit from his supplier I did that and he gave me a Full credit all was well ,I called him last week to replace the order with the credit and he was fine ,my husband picked up the roses and it was only 1 dozen he said that was what I ordered (not) he made it my fault and was upset that I waited to use my credit ( not happy that someone would drive that far to his shop) he lied and refused to give the 2 dozen he said take it or leave it that's all you are getting the best part was he said they were special ordered these roses aren't even lavender? I would not use this florist again he made sure he got pics so he wasn't charged but refused to replace the 2 dozen that were paid for .Two dozen roses are special to any lady but to a shop owner is it really a big deal,promise one thing and do another just not nice and not honest very very disappointed read more
