Ive walked by this place 1000 times always admiring what I saw in the window. Now having the opportunity to enjoy one of their pieces I feel lucky. I'm trying my best to take really good care of my plant. The owner thoughtfully gave me all of the care instructions and I've had it for a full month now and it's just as beautiful today as it was the day I got it. I had a friend send flowers from Citifloral and I was very happy and excited with the arrangement. Please note, I can't speak to the actual cost or delivery etc. I can only speak to the actual arrangement I received and my experience with that. The arrangement was beautiful and lasted a very long time. It also didn't require a lot of clean up once the flowers had started to die. I placed an order for Mother's Day flowers on May 6th, with expected delivery on May 7th. I ordered with extra time ahead of Mother's Day, which was May 10th. First, the website says they are collecting a $15 fee on all orders because of the pandemic. That makes sense; I get that times are tough right now, but now a basic flower order is over $90. The flowers never arrived on May 7th, so I called the shop as was told that they need extra time for delivery, but that "they will definitely be delivered tomorrow." On May 8th, the flowers still haven't arrived. So I called again. This time "the delivery truck broke down, but they will absolutely be delivered tomorrow." Again on May 9th, there are no flowers. May 10, Mother's Day, and again, no delivery. Every time I called I was told that I needed to be patient because of the pandemic. The staff barely apologized once and never offered a refund without me asking. Meanwhile, my wife ordered flowers from UrbanStems and they were delivered within 12 hours. Here it is 13 days later, and my flowers have never been delivered. The shop never once called me to explain the situation; I always had to call them to get an update. Also, I called and asked for a refund on May 11th, which I was promised, and still have not received that. Thankfully I charged the order via credit card and can submit a charge back (which I also tried to avoid because I know the credit card company charges the merchant an extra fee). I ordered through CitiFloral because I wanted to try and support smaller, local businesses. I wish I could have at least rated the flowers, but who knows where they even are. Brunch at the Legendary SOB's (Sounds of Brazil) located 200 Varick St. in NYC, and to my surprise they agreed... I was extremely impressed by not only the professionalism but the follow up leading to the actual event date. Jeff Gaster was the Absolute Best!!! he created nothing short of artistic masterpieces that were the perfect addition to a great event. I passed by this little flower shop on my way back from an uptown meeting. Something in the window caught my eye, so I decided to go in and see if they had something nice to put together for my wife. The experience was a little bit of a throwback in time for me. This is not a "cutting edge" flower shop with young Millennials, all dressed in black, waiting to answer your every floral query. It felt a little bit like my old small town neighborhood flower shop, back in Wisconsin, where I grew up. I would be willing to bet that the proprietor knows the first and last names of 90% of his customers. The proprietor, and there was no doubt that he was the proprietor, greeted me and asked me how he could help. I told him my rough idea for some cut flowers and he proceeded to assemble a beautiful bouquet, wrapped it himself, and sent me on my way. All at a price I was happy to pay. It's a nice little flower shop, on a quiet stretch of York Avenue, in an otherwise busy city. I went in for an a bouquet. The I was given were old and starting to wilt. I asked for something simple and request that the water packs not to be included as the flowers would only be used for a short time. They told me that they had to use it if i requested for them not to. I ended up redoing the bouquet myself (which looked a million times better). I definitely was not informed about the low inventory of daisies....I was quoted based on my request for "30" daisies which I agreed to since it was my daughter's 30th Birthday....my complaint is that you should have mentioned to me that you didn't have enough "nice" daisies to make it look good and/or we could've figured out another alternative to the daisy arrangement.....but that is on you....you should've known it wouldn't have been up to normal standards.....I'm not the florist!!!! The other option is to charge less for a subpar arrangement, not MORE than what was pictured!!!! My sweet boyfriend sent me the sunflower bouquet from this store. Unfortunately, the sunflowers arrived quite lifeless. A third of the petals were already rather withered and fell off that evening. The rest of the flowers died within the next day or two, but never looked healthy to begin with. Looking at the price he paid for these, the flowers should lasted longer than that. At first I thought they might have been sent from a far off place, and were worn out from the trip. I'm surprised it's from a local shop just uptown. I would think there would be more attention paid to the quality of each individual bouquet at a small store. It's a shame. read more

This business should be avoided at all costs. I just got off the phone with who I can only assume is the owner. Citi Floral did not deliver the flowers I sent to my sick office manager at the hospital. The company first claimed that "no fax orders were received that day - there was a problem with their system," but then later claimed that the flowers were delivered to a random nurse several days after the agreed upon delivery date (the same date my office manager was set to leave the hospital). By the admission of the owner - the flowers were not delivered until several days later (and they were never actually received by the intended recipient). The worst part - the alleged delivery (I say alleged because no one has ever seen the flowers or can confirm that they exist), only took place AFTER I called to complain that the flowers were not delivered two days earlier as agreed upon. This is an awful business. The owner was rude and refused to issue a refund. DO NOT USE THIS FLORIST!!!! read more

He took my order but explained he was short staffed, due to the Coronavirus restrictions, so delivery would be today or tomorrow - which was ok with me. He called me back to apologize if he seemed curt and promised delivery today. Given the COVID-19 lockdown, I definitely understood his uncertainty and was grateful he was open for business. By 3pm, he'd delivered a beautiful birthday arrangement to my daughter - which made her day. I don't know if competition is trying to give this company a bad name or if people really have had bad experiences with them. It's hard to tell sometimes, but personally I always been happy with their service. I actually stopped using them for a while because of all the negative reviews they have received. Stupid me. I need to learn to take everything with a grain of salt. After doing further investigating, I noticed that the same exact negative reviews have popped up on multiple websites. It looks fishy to me, honestly. Personally, every time I have ordered from them in the past they have delivered promptly. The person that I have been sending flowers to for the past five years always makes sure to snap a picture with her phone because I have asked her to. How many times have you sent something to someone and they say it was great but only because they don't want to hurt your feelings? Well, even with her crummy camera phone, I could always tell that her flowers looked fresh. Long story short, after not ordering from them for maybe a year or so, i got tired of how disgusting 1800 Flowers arrangements are. They literally send rotten flowers and there was no way I was going to send my girlfriend of five years flowers in a box for her to arrange herself. It's always a great day when you get flowers, especially on a landmark birthday. In general, the arrangement was nice with a clear glass vase, with exception of the half dead roses. Since the shop was a few blocks from my apartment I called to let them know and the man upon answering the phone was unfriendly. When I nicely told him about the roses, he responded we just made it for you they are fine. I offered to send a photo and his response was I could bring the arrangement in and he'll switch out the ones that aren't good. Really? How about not sending half dead flowers out to begin with! How about bringing me alive flowers I can exchange out of the arrangement. Seems a better option than trucking to the florist with an arrangement on my birthday to get what my mom paid for to begin with. Stay away. read more

THE WORST FLOWER SHOP I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!!! I'D RATHER BUY FLOWERS AT A DELI! I sent my girlfriend flowers. The delivery boy came at 12:30. My gf was in a meeting and called her cell phone. Bumping my review up to 4 stars and would consider using Citi Florals in the future** I hate writing one star reviews, but having received services from here, I would never recommend this florist to anyone. I was supposed to receive a bouquet at work, which I had no idea about at the time, as my boyfriend had ordered one a few weeks before Valentine's Day. He was told an expected delivery time frame between 12-5 PM, which would have worked because I was at work until 6 PM. However, 6 PM came and I left for the day to meet up with some friends in the LES, still unaware that I had a bouquet coming my way. My boyfriend, who was at Australia at the moment and did not have the luxury of calling in the US, had no idea of its whereabouts and did not receive any confirmation of its delivery. Finally, by 7 PM, he told me that the bouquet that was intended to be a surprise. At this point, he was upset about how things had turned out and decided to call CitiFlorists for a status update. The person he spoke to on the phone was unable to answer any of his questions and only provided him with "the guy is currently out and I wouldn't be able to tell you until our delivery guy is back." Basically, what was meant to be a sweet gesture from the other side of the globe turned out to be a disaster. I had to call my work place, ask if they had received a bouquet (in which they did...2 hours later than the expected arrival time), had to take the subway back up to my work, walk 5 blocks in freezing temperature to get my bouquet and walk back to the subway station. This could have all been avoided if the people who worked here were capable of giving realistic time frames for their delivery. I understand Valentine's Day is a busy day of you guys, but seriously get your shit together please. As for the actual flower arrangement, it was pretty. I needed flowers for my fiance's bridal shower. Surprisingly there were not many shops open on Sunday so I found this one which was open for a small window sunday morning. I have used this wonderful, small neighborhood flower shop for years. They are personal, reliable and never disappoint -- all of the arrangements I've sent or received have been exquisite. What touches my heart is that, from time to time, they will leave a generous bucket full of beautiful roses -- all thorns shorn off -- outside the door with an invitation for passers by to take a flower for free. We phoned Mt. Sanai West Hospital, from Maui Hawaii, for a suggestion for a local reputable florist for a hospital floral delivery. They highly recommended CitiFloral. With the time difference between Maui and NYC, we phoned 3:00 am EST. Surprisingly, Jeff answered. He took our order and a most beautiful arrangement was delivered the next morning. I called to ask for a refund (as the policy on their website states if you are unsatifsified). Unfortunately, I had to deal with Jeff who was unprofessional and nasty (and even hung up on me!). The fact that they did not stand by their policy prompted me to file a formal complaint with the BBBureau. I also placed a dispute with our credit card company so we won't have to pay for the TERRIBLE flowers and TERRIBLE service. There are plenty of vendors in NYC to patron. I have used CitiFloral for several years to send flowers to my mother-in-law who lives in another state. Their floral arrangements are gorgeous and many are a bit different, not just the standard bouquet in a vase. She has always commented on how lovely, tasteful, and long-lasting the arrangements are. This year there was a problem with the local Teleflora florist not delivering the flowers to her. It's the first time there has been a problem of any kind. I sent an e-mail to CitiFloral and was contacted very quickly with an apology and a promise to resolve the matter to my satisfaction. That e-mail was soon followed up with a phone call from Jeff, who went to great lengths to contact another local florist and have flowers delivered. He even arranged for an upgrade at no extra charge. I was very impressed with the customer service I received! A quick e-mail and two phone calls from someone who was apologetic, friendly, took care of the matter ASAP with no questions asked, and beautiful flowers delivered, all within a couple of days. UPDATE: Please see the response below from the owner himself for affirmation of the defensive, arrogant attitude that runs this place. Refusing to provide proper care instructions and then attempting to shift blame for your lack of knowledge and poor attitude on to your customers (in writing, too,) is not a great business practice. I'd advise against telling any more women in your professional (or personal) life they are "escalating" or "throwing a fit" (or are "emotional" or "unpleasant," as you told me in-store,) for exercising the same rights you have - to ask questions, point out incongruences, or express a dissatisfaction with you or your business. I have a new peace lily from your competitor down the street, by the way, who gave exact info on how much to water it - not using "seconds" or "my own judgment," but universal measurements instead. The peace lily is doing great. As is his business. The original review: the older man running this business is incompetent, argumentative and rude. I bought a plant there recently and asked for explicit instructions in caring for it (so I could, you know, keep it alive to its max potential.) It was strangely difficult to obtain specific info on watering from the guy, but in the end, through a combination of mumbled words, miming and perhaps attempted telepathy, we reached a "1 cup per week in mixed light" understanding. (Some of the leaves were already starting to yellow, which I pointed out.) No big surprises that two weeks later of following his instructions to the T, the plant was nearly dead. But this isn't the most frustrating bit. That came when I returned to exchange the plant, at which point I was accused of misunderstanding, and given a whole new set of directions that varied from "run it under water for 20 seconds" to "just water until soil gets wet" to "water whenever you think it's dry." When I asked him to demonstrate to make sure his 20 seconds lined up with mine (as I didn't think the poor plant could stand any more inaccuracy,) it turned out the seconds were actually 5. When requesting a universally measurable amount instead, to prevent further damage to the plant, the man threw a fit and called me "unreasonable." He seemed to care about a review that reflected his horrendous communication skills and poor attitude as little as he does for the health of his plants. So here it is. Ran straight to Yelp after getting super rude "service" from these guys. Obviously I'm not the only one. Guy on phone asked if I'd gone to the website and told me to place an order there. When I said I was on the site but wanted a recommendation (ever had a florist WORK with you and tell you what looks good that day? - yeah, me too). He transferred me to a second guy who told me to go to the website. I asked if he had any recommendations for a birthday arrangement and any flowers that looked particularly good today. He responded "They all look good or we wouldn't send them" then told me to go to the site again. Infuriating, especially when they have their phone number plastered loud and proud on the front page of their website. These guys don't deserve any business. read more
