I used Flowers by Tiffany for my wedding reception in February 2007. I hired Tiffany after attending a small bridal show. She convinced me to do my wedding reception "my way" and was inspiring...at first.
Once I hired her and agreed to her services which were to include wedding planning and floral arrangements, decor and organization, I was underwhelmed by her lack of interest in my event, answering my questions in a timely manner, or calling me back. I thought she was terrible at the wedding planning portion of our contract.
She also didn't shop for things. She just hired the vendors she worked with regularly. I asked her to find a caricature artist, and she quoted me one option who was way out of budget. My husband and I ended up finding our own caricature artist for $100 cheaper an hour! What is the point of having a wedding planner if she doesn't shop around for you? We did all of our own planning despite having her, b/c she wasn't helpful at all in recommending affordable options.
Closer to my date, I gave her a list of all my vendors so she could contact them while I was on my honeymoon (I had a destination wedding and planned my at home reception a week after returning). She did NOT contact any of my vendors, so they had no idea what time to be at the reception venue, how to get there, how to get in early, etc. She was worthless in this aspect, which I considered to be a simple task.
I also requested that she get a projector and screen which she adamantly attempted to talk me out of. She refused to help get one until the last minute, when she finally did what I asked and got me my requests. She also attempted to talk me out of my white BM dresses, which I wanted for an all white beach wedding. She was not supportive or interested in my choices. She did everything she could to get me to stretch my budget, despite the fact that we were paying for everything ourselves and needed to stay within our budget. She pressured us time and time again to stretch it. She was pushy and rude and often sarcastic about our decisions.
When the day finally arrived:
She had a team decorating my reception venue and it did turn out looking nice, but the weather was awful and instead of assisting my guests get into the building and find the appropriate door, she went missing. She was not helpful to me once the room was decorated and was MIA during the majority of my event.
Was it worth having her there to set up and tear down...yes! Mostly b/c I didn't want to do this myself, but I paid nearly $3K worth of services and go BARE minimum service and she was the most unreliable person who was involved in my planning process, which is fairly ironic considering she was the PLANNER.
Her flowers were beautiful but nothing special or that we could not have done by purchasing them at Marsh and tying ribbons around them. The only reason we did not fire her is b/c we used the Stutz and she worked in the building and supposedly had connections to make things happen better and more smoothly, but in the end, we did everything ourselves. We didn't need her and I don't think anyone else does either.
Last but not least, she actually said to my husband about six months after our reception that she was disappointed we didn't TIP her. Not only is this unprofessional and ridiculous, but there is no way on God's green earth we would be giving her ADDITIONAL money for a job that SUCKED. We considered SUING her for our money back...let alone TIP this woman who made our wedding stress so much worse! And for her to have the nerve to mention this just shows exactly how disrespectful and self-righteous she is. She didn't go above and beyond. She BARELY pulled off the minimum and I cannot believe she thought otherwise living in her own special floral world.
I do NOT recommend her and would be afraid that she would stress you out too much. There are plenty of other professional wedding planners in town and I would not waste your money on Tiffany. She is not very nice, not very attentive and made for a difficult planning process full of annoyances, unreturned calls and ultimately too much stress, when the sole purpose of hiring her is to help make things easier.
I would do anything in my power to take back hiring her and I do not want anyone to suffer through the stress I did when planning. Yes, it was nearly two years ago, but I still have an awful taste in my mouth from my experience and don't want anyone else to go through this. Please consider hiring ANYONE else besides Tiffany. She is NOT good at her job. read more
