The flowers that were arranged were beautiful. My mother loved them! I liked the fact they provided an email of delivery and a chance to view the exact arrangement they made for her. I tried Flowers by Valerie as a change of pace from using another local flower shop. They appear to be competitive by having many nice floral arrangements at reasonable prices. They also offered the lowest delivery charge as well because the other flower shop wasn't offering free delivery anymore. The gal on the phone who took my order was super sweet and also very helpful. She took my and expedited my order, and it was also delivered on time. I did like the extra step they took to send me an email with a picture of the arrangement so I could see what it looked like around delivery time. Did not deliver the arrangement I ordered for my father's birthday, and failed to notify me that they were not able to deliver. When I contacted them to check on my order the next day after learning it did not arrive, I was told that the local florist they work with had gone out of business and that they could not complete the delivery. Suggested that I should have called a local florist in my area. The website clearly promises nationwide delivery and I received confirmation of the order and payment was taken. If not able to honor the commitment, they should not take the order or offer the service. I was given a refund, but the date was missed. read more

I've found it's a bit of a gamble when you order flowers from afar. What will the arrangement look like? What is the quality of the flowers? Did they follow my direction? When will it deliver? I'm very happy to share you need not worry with Flowers by Valerie. They sent me an email with delivery confirmation AND a photo they took of the arrangement I ordered! How fantastic is that?! When I called, I wanted the flowers delivered same day to my Granny. I was fairly specific about what I wanted and didn't want as far as flowers, design, size and greenery. At the end of taking my order she asked for my email address and said they would send a picture of the flowers. I didn't think much of it until I got the email and realized - yay, my Granny got her flowers and I'm looking at the flowers she received! I've used other florists in Indy, but I won't anymore. I placed two orders for Mother's Day. One was for my step mother in Massachusetts because they offer a network of florists nationwide and the other was for my mom in Indianapolis. Within a few hours, Chris called to let me know that the Massachusetts florist was more expensive and offered either a refund or to charge me the additional. I opted to pay the additional 50% charge to have the flowers delivered. Initially, they were supposed to be delivered on Friday, but today I was notifies that they won't arrive until tomorrow, which is Monday. They refunded the additional charge, which satisfied me. I understand that things happen on busy weekends and that this is coming from a different florist. Unfortunately, I realized when I got to my mother's house that the flowers arrived, but the Willow Tree figurine did not. They are now closed and I won't be able to speak to anyone until tomorrow. I sent an email to the comments email address and got an auto reply that the mailbox isn't monitored, so that gets me nowhere either. The flowers are beautiful and I loved that I got emailed a picture of the specific arrangement that they were delivering, but I am frustrated that both of my orders did not arrive in full on Mother's Day. So far, Chris has given me exceptional customer service, so I have zero complaints about that aspect of my transactions. I'm sure they will fix the issue, but it's very disappointing when a gift doesn't arrive complete and on-time. Update: they went above and beyond to fix the problems that arose. They upgraded the gift to my mother and are sending a gift certificate for a future order. As upset as I was yesterday, they have done what needed to be done to make it right for me. Second update: I have still not received the gift certificate that was promised. I will use another florist from now on. read more

Customer service was horrible! I just missed the delivery person by 10 minutes and when he called to leave a message, he did not leave his number and blocked his number. The delivery person had my correct address but was confused as to where my townhouse was located. I called the number he left for the main office and they would not call the driver and stated if he left a message then he had already left and he could not be disturbed. There was nothing that could be done and who knows when the flowers will be delivered. read more

This place has ruined not 1, but TWO special occasions! The first time, my mother ordered me a gorgeous bouquet of purple and pink flowers (my favorite) as a thank you gift. "Flowers by Valerie" delivered a brown/orange fall arrangement (which was more fitting for a thanksgiving dinner table) that was supposed to go to someone else, and sent my arrangement to the wrong person (I didn't know the people listed on the card so I didn't know who the flowers were really from). After much confusion, it got straightened out and I received the correct bouquet. Not holding a grudge, everyone makes mistakes, no big deal...my mom orders from them again today. It is my son's birthday today, so he wanted to send me flowers as appreciation. Being sweet and witty, my mother helped him order flowers with a cute balloon to say "It's a boy!". The flowers came and the balloon said "Happy Mother's Day". I was very confused, as were my co-workers, as to why I was receiving mother's day flowers Monday! Remembering what happened last time, I called my mom and after more confusion, she realizes they did not follow her requested order (we're not even sure they are the correct flowers she ordered). We just kind of laughed it off and she said she would call the store to let them know and see if they could fix it by sending the correct flowers and balloon. Again, things happen, no one was mad, but we figured the owner would want to know that the staff fell a little short again. My mom called me back LIVID with how rude the staff was too her! They told her it was HER fault to order "It's a boy" balloon when my son's personalized card said "thank you for years of unconditional love, you are the best mom ever." They said they thought the flowers were from a daughter to her mother (why would they assume my son's gender, and based on WHAT?! His name?!?!). They said my mother made it all too confusing for THEM! If they were confused, why didn't they call the customer?? What if these flowers were to be a special birth announcement to a spouse or grandparent?! The staff basically acted like my mom was an idiot and they took NO responsibility for the screw up. Like some of the other reviews on here, they yelled at her "WHAT DO YOU WANT?!?!" Horrible customer service seems to be the theme with many of the reviews I've read on them!! I arranged a delivery of sunflowers to be sent to my mom this weekend for Mother's day through 1-800-flowers. They sent the order to Flowers by Valerie, and they shipped my mother an arrangement of wilting, dying Sunflowers (for which I paid $70 for). When my mom called to notify them of the problem, Flowers by Valerie said they wouldn't be able to redeliver for another 3 days, well after Mother's Day. When my mom complained about that option, the manager of the shop was incredibly rude to her, said that he had too many people in his shop to help her, asked her rudely "What is it that you want?" (he also claimed to my mom that I only purchased a $50 order) and when my mom said she wanted new flowers for Mother's Day, he hung up on her. Later that day they sent an even worse arrangement as a replacement. I have already filed complaints through 1-800-flowers and arranged for a different florist to take care of my mom, but I highly recommend not using this florist because of their poor customer service. In my opinion, if you cannot handle a customer complaint without being rude, cannot have enough insight to NOT treat a mother poorly on mother's day, and cannot rectify a mistake made by your floral shop in a timely manner, then you might be in the wrong line of work. read more
