I can think of so many ways to improve the wait time at Flowers Hospital ER. First, we arrived with my boyfriend in significant pain from what I expected was a kidney stone. I told the man at registration that we needed to update his information but was told not to worry about it. They did triage him- a two step process at two different times which seemed strange. They took blood and listened to us tell them he was dehydrated. I asked on two separate occasions if he could please have water and was told they needed the results from his labs before they could tell us that. They did place the iv but told us he could not receive any fluids while in the waiting room- which we were in for 4 1/2 hours. The only thing they did within the first 1 1/2 hours he was there was to do a CT- so they knew early on he had a kidney stone. They did give him some Toradol. Then, we waited another 3 hours before we finally got to the back and guess what- he was too dehydrated to urinate. Then we had to wait for a bag of fluids and then wait for the bag to empty. Meanwhile- had they allowed us to hydrate him while waiting forever, that could have taken some time off. When we were finally ready to leave, we had to spend additional time updating his chart which I tried to do upon arrival. There was plenty of time that this could have been done while we were waiting instead of making us wait additional time and having us do this at the end when we were exhausted and it was 1:30 am. We came to the hospital Sunday January 19 2020 my husband was brought in an ambulance because he pass out from high blood sugar at approximately 9:30 pm. It is now 11:30 and we have yet to see a doctor. No medication has been given and no doctor or registered nurse has came in the pass 2 hours except for to take blood. I am very disappointed with the attention we have been given. I called the nurses station in the emergency room which is less than 10 feet from our door about 11:00 and the nurse on the intercom said they would be here in a moment still no one. I stopped someone and told them we had bern here to hours and still no doctor. I was told they are making their way around. Still no one. Yet they are still calling people back. I just want someone to act like we exist. Would not recommend anyone come here. read more

Went to ER on 09/11/2021 for a covid-19 test. I was diagnosed with uvulitis and was prescribed antibiotics. that was the good part!! Now I have been fighting to get them to bill my insurance, at first they showed I had no insurance which I provided upon check in. In December I received a bill and corrected this on the portal and called to make sure they got the information. Now its January and they still haven't got the insurance right, I called again to the business office and spoke with Heather who again took down my insurance information which was incorrect. This hospital is a private hospital and their ER is not the same as their business office?? as ive been told. They will treat you but good luck getting them to bill the right people and it will go on your credit report as this is what happened to my daughter who is a military wife!! they couldn't get that right now its a spot on her record. This hospital need to fire all of the business office and replace them with people who know what their doing. My wife underwent open heart surgery here because of a cat scan and there was absolutely nothing wrong with her heart. Billing continued for more than a year to bill us for more than a year when we told them to please take us to court and that's when they dropped it because they knew they would lose that one. Its a nice beautiful hospital but trust me go to southeast if you don't want to commit suicide after dealing with flowers. (oh and they do put the suicide hotline number on their bills) read more

Another review wishing that ZERO stars could be given. My story is unbelievable, it happens on TV, there's no way that it could happen in a real setting.....but it happened. It's way too long to write, but I'll sum it up in that Dr Alfred Miller decided that the tremors that my husband was having were drug withdrawels and pegged him as a drug seeker before he even looked at anything. He has young onset Parkinsons Disease for 16 years. One of his symptoms is mobility with falls and another is severe tremors. The tremors are made worse with stress and pain. The illustrious DR felt that he couldn't possibly have PD, that hE iS toO YoUnG. When we started complaining that we had not received any information on the tests they ran, we were told that his CT scan was "negative" and that his EKG was "negative". What does that even mean? That he's dead?? They were ready to send us home without even telling us that. They refused to tell us anything, refused treatment for pain where he face planted into concrete and broke his nose and had a 6" hematoma across his head and most importantly, didn't believe he had Parkinsons. We were there for about 3 hours and racked up a $38,167 bill. Another thing was they Xrayed the wrong knee. They didn't xray the knee that was hurting. They sure charged us for it though. The way we were treated will cause us to never take things to an ER again unless there is brain matter spilling out. To top it off, he called security on us. Which would have been OK if it was justified, but there was no reason to do that. Lesson learned to never question the DR, even in a rational manner. The whole thing is just surreal. read more

I wouldnt recommend this hospital to nobody!! My 1 year was admitted to the hospital "Flowers" after his surgery not 1 nurse came back to check on him, not to meantion they didn't have a room for us but this was a scheduled procedure, so preperations should have already been made, but hold up let me top the cake. The Tech on the 2nd floor on both shifts never introduce themselves upon entering the room, 2nd shift Tech place my guest tray on the dirty linen receptacle my son got discharged around 5 A.M I had to walk my son out of the hospital I asked for a wheelchair but they couldn't find 1. I would advise anyone who has to go to reconsider!! read more

This hospital lacks knowledge of medical procedures, which in turn could be very dangerous for patients. Be careful of this hospital and for your own safety go somewhere else. read more

Flowers hospital normally have a good staff but in my opinion I will not be going back if a nurse name Elizabeth Cooper is working the ER. She has dark hair and glasses. She is nasty to you when you are in extreme pain and she try to minimize your condition. I went a few months back and that thought to myself as long as she is working here, I won't be back during her shift. Well my daughter was in accident and I came to Flowers because I normally prefer Flowers to the Medical Center. When I seen her working there, my heart dropped because I knew I wasn't going to get the care I deserved and she was as I expected her usual nasty self and I end up having to go to Southeast Health anyway. If you value your life, you should probably go to Southeast Health if she is working. read more

We came to Alabama while I was starting my 2nd trimester. We began going to Enterprise clinic, but realized they didn't care about their patients. We switched over to Flowers and it was the best move we did. Doctor Nicholls OB/GYN is one of the nicest doctors I have ever seen. He took the time to get to know his patients and their concerns and questions were always addressed. He is kind and has great bed side manners when it comes to baby stuff. I never once felt uncomfortable at my appointments and actually looked forward to them. The hospital itself is beautiful and all the nurses are nice and very helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and made me feel at home. Even the food was okay! Thank you Flowers Hospital and Dr. Nicholls for making our experience with our first born a great one for us! read more

Have been admitted to the hospital under the care of a hospitalist. Have asked to speak to him over the past 12 hours to be told the rationale for all the tests he is continues to order. It has been confirmed he is on the floor multiple times by the nursing staff. I guess a patients right to be informed is lip service at this hospital! Next time will go to SAMC read more

I've been the Flowers' ER twice in the last few years and both were terrible experiences. NEVER go there if you actually want to see a Doctor. You're going to get stuck w/ a PA who may or may not know what the heck is going on and since you never see a doctor, you never know if they are actually relating accurate information. I've had OK experiences w/ the nurses who draw blood, but I've also had my worse experience w/ an IV catheter being set and removed. Next time, I'll just drive a little farther up the road to the other hospital in town. read more

II was in Flowers Hospital for 5 days and I was very pleased with my care.. From the ER to the room all was pleasant and caring.. If I called for help it was just a short wait till it was right.. I am an RN and know good and bad care and this was a positive experience.. I for one will be going to Flowers Hospital again if needed. Thank you Flowers Hospital for all you did for me.. read more

Feel free to attempt care in this emergency room, but I cannot caution people enough against it. A few months ago my husband pulled off the highway driving back home to another state (think south.) Unfortunately my husband found Flowers Hospital. Long story short, about five hours later Dad was released with a dx of dehydration. Eight hours later he was in a coma caused by septic shock. Three days later he was dead. His colon ruptured, his kidneys had failed, and the rest of his organs were in the process of failing. It is a objective fact that his test results showed all the signs, without any doubt. This female physician (who is not certified in emergency room care & she is a contractor with no actual ties to Flowers) somehow missed EVERYTHING. She missed the fact that after input of thousands of cc's of saline, there was not one drop of output. I could go on and on about her total failure to interpret all his tests results like a real E.R. physician & not a fill in contractor. She has no stake in this, and she still got paid. read more

Both parents have been in hospital for over a week now. Have had high opinions of Flowers Hospital in the past with many family members having been there. This time around is totally different and hope it improves. Severe lack of attention to my parents, basic needs not being met, very little monitoring of their condition, huge response time to requests for help, and no communication from doctors have all been and continue to be problems during this stay. 4th floor is causing them more pain and suffering. Over a week and still no contact from Dept. Managers or higher ups. Will re-post if situation improves and hope it does. Anyone else have these issues? read more

Horrible ER the staff ran around screaming and cussing and we waited 6 hours in a room waiting to be seen only to talk to a dr for 5 mins total. Nobody knew what we were there for and after all that we got two bills in the mail for extremely poor service! Next time I think I will drive a little farther to the medical center read more

i have been going to this hospital for many years.my 11 year old son has been as well.2/18/14 i took my son to the hospital due to beening sick.it was taking so long i went to ask how long before the nurse came in.it had already been 25 mins.the person i charge told me when the nurse got back he would be in..there was a total of 6 people in there including my son.i made the comment this was bullshit and the person in charge started cursing at me and when i asked who was in charge he jumped up at me stating he was..i will never return.if you don't like your job find another read more

My Father is in the ICU on 5th floor. He's been there for 2 weeks now. I've never had a problem visiting him until tonight, but they have the 2 of the most hateful and rude nurse's that I've ever seen in my life. read more

the er staff and nurse practitioner are terrible,they leave you in a room for hours while you suffer in pain,and don't give you any relief. they send unqualified employees in your room to give you medications. they don't diagnos you properly (guessing game). read more
