And to my surprise, it was more than I was expecting. It was an old-fashioned brownie with the edges--you know, the chewy sides with a touch of burnt edges that we all loved. Also, they make cakes, and I loved the pretty green one. So I got a bit nosy, asking questions, and found that this is a full bakery. Yes, you can stop in and get a slice of cake, pies, and all kinds of delicious treats like brownies and cupcakes. But you can also order a whole cake. I like to say specialty cakes because they have flavors like the pretty Key Lime Cake with cream cheese icing on the outside and green on the inside. Another one that stands out is the Butter Pecan Cheesecake, Strawberry Crunch Cheesecake, or the Sweet Potato Red Velvet Custard Pie. It's truly a dessert paradise. So to get me to purchase it, she said it's like Patricia's. The color was spot on but taste wise it wasn't to me. The cake was a little on the dry side. I even lifted the cakes to get the expiration date that was furthest out which was 9/30/25. Even if the cake had been freshly cooked today, there is no way I would even keep a cake in my house for this long. It's lucky to sit a whole week. I will upload locations in Macon these can be purchased from. I ONLY went to Shoppers Value because it was closest. But with the 10% extra charge I do not frequent here at all. My thing is you are not giving me a discounted rate if you charge 10% on top of the other tax. Just charge me regular price off the bat. We gave them several days in advance so if there were any issues they could be addressed in plenty of time. My daughter placed a deposit at the time the order was made. I think it was something like $70. When I went to pick up the cookies it was close to closing time on a Saturday (I think. If not it was Friday) I finished paying for the order which was about another $72. +/- As soon as I got home my daughter and daughter in law took one look at the cookies and said they did t want them. We never even opened the box . It was that noticeable. The designs looked as though a 1st grader had done them. I called the bakery... no answer. I left a detailed msg. As well as sending a msg via FB. No reply at all. It took me waiting the whole weekend to call and get a hold of someone. It was the owner/ husband. In short.. he would take them back and give me $70. Back. He said the deposit they had to keep. Said it was in the contract! WHAT CONTRACT?!?? Cause neither of us signed a contract. He wouldnt respond to me when I asked for a copy of that contract. I decided not to deal with him! After another day or so they ended up goat treats! All until I can take them to court. I must say these are the most delicate and moist donuts I have ever tasted. The donuts are small in size, which makes it even better. Anyone can easily buy an assortment of all the flavors to try and will not feel guilty for overeating because they are small. There was a variety of options to choose from, lunch, breakfast, bakery, soups.... Even tacos if we wanted. There were far too few parking places to be seen ANYWHERE around the strip mall! This made it hard for a quick walk in the rain. Nothing the restaurant could do about that... but was the start to our less than perfect experience. Once inside, there were several open tables and a sign reading 'please wait to be seated.' Some we waited -- only to be told 'you can sit anywhere you'd like.' So which is it, wait or seat yourself ‍? Our drink order was taken quickly and then the waitress practically hounded us (came back to the table 3 times in about 3 minutes) to take our order. I eventually said 'FINE, I'll just have scrambled egg-whites only, toast (with butter,) & bacon! I literally had the conversation with the waitress about whether the kitchen should put my butter on the toast or have her bring it to me at the table. I also asked for 'super EXTRA-CRISPY' bacon.... Like charcoal burnt, lol! When the plates were delivered the bacon was NOT cooked correctly, the eggs STILL had the yolks in them & weren't scrambled, and the toast had NO butter nor was it brought to the table. When Kaylee, the waitress, returned to the table we were NOT offered refills on our drinks or the option to purchase another (they came in cans) and when questioned about the butter her response was 'oh yeah, we ran outta butter.' How does a restaurant (a bakery, mind you) run out of butter? Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE! Was NOT a good first impression! It is HIGHLY unlikely that we will ever return!
