I phoned them with a doorknob replacement issue. They sent out a locksmith a few days later (I'd phoned on a Friday). Craig was very knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly! We had a lot of problems getting a response from their staff. After an initial conversation in February and sending pictures of new locks needed, they weren't calling or returning calls. Because they had done all our work over 35+ years and we had special keys, we felt tied to them. We called back several months later, allowing over two months to get the job done. This time it went better. We had several back and forth exchanges, sent the pictures again! and finally felt like we were making progress. Kathy identified what we would need, confirmed it was available from their warehouse a few states away and would get the order going. I gave her my credit card and thought all was moving ahead. When I didn't hear any more for over a week, I called back and Kathy had no recollection of the order and needed more information. I got that posthaste and after locating the items She said that the parts should be received in three days. This time I received a email confirmation. I waited four or five days and called. She had no system for tracking my order and clearly wouldn't have followed up on it if I hadn't called. At that point, I complained to her about the horrible customer service I had been getting from her. I really could care less that the order was out of her control, all I wanted was for her to take the initiative to follow up on the order with their staff if the timeline commitments were not being dealt and she needed to take the initiative to stay on top of this and keep me in the loop. That finally woke her up to understand what anyone should expect if reasonable customer service. From that point on, she was staying on top of the order and updating me on the status until the parts arrived. Her colleague got the installation scheduled. The technician was great and the job got done! Obviously, I'm still very disturbed by the experience. Especially a long time customer, but truly no one, should have to work this hard to spend $600. I hope I don't have any further needs from Floyd, but if I do, I now know to set expectations with their staff at the outset. read more

I've stuck with Floyd now for over 6 years, and my experiences have definitely improved. I am very clear now on expectations, warranties, and responsiveness - and they have definitely done a much better job than my previous experiences. They have worked hard to address any issues we encounter immediately and fairly, and my sales person (Russ) is always awesome and goes above and beyond to make sure I am happy. I recommend them now, but encourage anyone that uses them to get in writing (email) any promises that are made, and specific details or direction you have, to ensure there is no confusion or anything left unsaid when they do your project. read more

After deciding it was time for a security system in our home, we called Floyds because of their reputation and length of time in business. Karin, the sales rep, did a great job of assessing our needs, explaining different options and then making recommendations. We didn't go with all the recommendations and we were not pressured in the least, which I was expecting. Very pleasant experience. John, the installer, was great, too! Very knowledgeable and the nicest guy ever. In talking to friends who have security systems, Floyds' pricing is very reasonable.... it was a no brainer. Once they install a system you will NEVER see or hear from them again - been trying for a month to get them to come out and replace a few smoke detectors ( they should be replaced every 5 years). Started by filling in an online form that promised an assessment of the situation - that did generate a call back and a sales pitch (replace the whole functioning system instead of just putting in new smoke alarms). I declined and was promised a call by service for a dispatch - never happened. Called in and got a hold of dispatch who took information including pictures of the smoke alarms - promise of a scheduled to call me shortly - never happened. Called again and could not get a person so left a message - as I type I sit on infinite hold waiting to get a live person. I cannot recommend a local firm who does NOT support and service their products - be very careful... read more

If I could give negative 5 stars I would. Went a weekend without communications and they knew and told their supervisor there was no communication but never called me. I thought I was being protected. Then they were quick to want to send a tech until I said I am not paying and wanted an explanation for no call. A tech stepped me through fixing it. They installed CO detection 6 years ago. The detectors expired in Feb and started to through trouble alarms. Floyd had no knowledge of expiration of what to do. I found the expiration date myself and they have been removed and system stays in fault. When calling to update the call list they are rude. Many calls they have not asked for a password which should be done on all calls. They should follow up on equipment they know expires and they really need better customer service. Rudeness has driven me to another company in the Twin Cities. I would never recommend Floyd Security for anything. They have gone downhill progressively and they do nothing to correct it. Sign of poor management when employees do not care how they treat customers. My advice stay away there are other local companies that treat customers with respect and take security seriously. read more
