Good service, very prompt. She listened to me. Even when I wasn't sure what I wanted done she worked with me on the bill because I accidentally chose the wrong cut, and she helped a lot. Wish the music was a little more diverse and added a little more classic rock to the mix. Maybe offer cocktails while waiting? And when I come in totally confused about my upcoming cut, it would be helpful to show me and offer different styles that might look decent on me. I just got the absolute worst haircut of my life from Marcus. Not just a little bit bad, but a true joke; looks like it was cut by a blind clown. I never thought I could be enraged by a haircut, but I've been proven wrong. I had been growing my hair out for 6 months and went in for a lineup. Asked for him to take it up off my ears and the guy shaved the side and back of my head with a number 3. And when I said something about it, the guy didn't even apologize, just told me to handle it at the front desk (like they were going to grow my hair back or something). Even if I had wanted my hair short, the haircut would still be comically bad; I honestly thought I was on an episode of Punk'd. I am soooo pissed off about this haircut and with this place. I don't want to bash on the place too much. I was looking for a quick average haircut and I feel like what I got was a bad haircut. It might be because I have asian hair, but my hair was cut too high and close to the crown so that it sticks out and my bangs were uneven where the right corner is very short which forces me to wear my hair up. Decided earlier today that I needed a haircut. I initially tried walking into the location in Ashburn, since that was the closest to me at the time, but they were all booked up for the day. The Mosaic location was the second closest, and the one that had been recommended to me by two friends. Considering I called the day I was looking to make a booking, being able to come in less than two hours later is insanely convenient. The location in the Mosaic District is amazing. There are a great deal of other things to do in the area if you're not just looking to get your hair cut. Not the case for me, but if you have the time to look around for a bit, I definitely would. When I walked in, I met Julia, who was my barber today. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do with my hair, but I explained as best as I could to Julia. Throughout the process, she checked in frequently to make sure all was good. Near the end, I also asked for advice on styling and product, and she was very helpful and recommended Floyd's 99 Texture Powder. Honestly, I can't say anything bad about Floyd's 99 in Fairfax. The shop itself is great. Very clean, the decoration is appealing, and the overall atmosphere is great! There's nothing bad I could say about this location. I recently started working at the Mosaic center. Before moving here from Maryland, I was a huge fan of Sport clips. They keep a track of all my previous styles and recommend me the best styles according to the occasion. Since I could not find any Sport Clip near Mosaic center, I was kinda disappointed. But not until I found Floyd's right by my office. Oh man! I have heard great things about Floyd's from my friends. I was super excited! I walked in on Tuesday so there wasn't any queue. They assigned me Bhuban who is one of their best stylist. Within few minutes he gave me a great hair cut and styled it appropriately as well. Definitely ask for Bhuban if you're looking for hard part and fade on your sides. They also gave me free shampoo service as this was my first visit and gave a $5 off coupon for the next visit which means that I do not have to pay for shampoo service again. Hurray! read more

If he's available, I recommend seeing Bhuban - he's been chopping my locks for a while now, and I can always count on him for an efficient, quality haircut and a pleasant experience overall. I'm usually in and out of there in about 15-20 minutes. And if every employee at this Floyd's location is like Bhuban, I can say I'd be comfortable asking any of the staff for advice on hairstyles and hair care. So if you're looking for consistently quality haircuts and knowledgeable staff, Floyd's is a solid choice, and it's very easy to book appointments online. Regarding COVID protocols, they take your temperature when you come in, and check to see if you have been around anyone with symptoms in the past two weeks. While there's nothing to prevent someone from lying about the interactions they've had in the past two weeks, the protocols that Floyd's has in place make me feel safe when I go there. read more

The barber name is FRANCIS, he did this twice to me, but I came back because I thought he did not hear me or it is because I did not show him a picture. If i could give zero stars i would. the guy who helped me was a tall older black man. I showed him a reference for a low taper blowout, he looked at it for 2 seconds and said yeah i do that all the time i can do that easily for you. i tried asking if he wanted to see the photo again he said no i have 30 years of experience and does this haircut all the time. all he does is snip the front of my hair more than 1.5 inches and cut the sides as well. didn't do anything else, not even close to what i wanted. i only said it was ok cause i was being nice but terrible service. i asked for a wash and he was very rough and quick with it. even the other barbers were laughing at me. terrible service not worth a 35$ price. read more

It is summertime and my desire to chop off my hair drastically came fast and furious, so I spent a while in a hair stylist research rabbithole. I personally find it difficult to effectively research cosmetic service providers! My biggest criteria were the general mood of the venue and stylists bc those have proved so integral to my past experiences. When doing a big thing, you want a stylist who is open to it and will talk thru it and hopefully who is experienced!! Ok ok so I actually went to Floyd's based on convenience of location and word-of-mouth reviews. Immediately it doesn't feel like it is trying to be New Agey or uber sleek or whatever; there is a distinct cool retro music decor theme and relaxed and friendly employees. There is an impressive range/selection of hair products, but it doesn't overtake you at all in terms of its placement feeling like it is pressuring you to buy. I attempted a weekday evening walk-in and had to make an appt, but it was easy and I got a confirmation text a day before my appt. I went in with a lot of reference pics and a lot of things I wanted my stylist to know in terms of what I did want, didn't want, wasn't sure about, needed advice on, etc., and she was very receptive and helpful. Thank you, Ashleigh A! :-) she made me feel comfortable and safe as I went from long hair to pixie, a hard task. Nothing felt rushed or like guesswork. We had an ongoing conversation about my hair as well as casually. I got a full shampoo and cut for my long to short hair transformation, and it was $50 before tip and took an hour and a half. While styling my finished haircut, Ashleigh was so nice and walked me thru diff product options per my query. Her advice was patient and thorough; like, did I care about scent that much, how I could treat for heat, diff price points. I came here because my usual barber was out of town. Seeing the reviews I decided to go to Bhuban since the website says he specializes in skin fades. I asked for a low skin fade. Anybody who's ever received a fade knows that you're in the chair for MINIMUM 25 minutes. He gave me an 8 minute haircut. Rushed. Messy. By far the worst fade I've ever received. It's unfair to pay for what's supposed to be a 30 minute haircut and be in and out in 8 minutes with poor quality. Won't be coming back here. read more

With so many haircutters, I feel like its a hit or miss depending on which haircutter is working there. My haircut turned out OK and the only issue with mines was that there wasn't much of a fade on the sides. I also got my hair washed and that always feels good. Jack could audition to be an extra on a sci fi film about the nuclear apocalypse, and they would cast him based on the authenticity of his hairstyle. The manager refunded us, and offered to fix, but he was too nervous to return. But now that it's grown in a few weeks and he looks like a bear cub with mange, I think we'll try going back this week to get it fixed. Most of the stylists there are good. I have a pixie cut, and like to go to shops that do really well with men's and women's hair, particularly short hair. They accepted me as a walk in, which I really appreciated, hence the two stars. However, what followed was the worst haircut of my life. I showed her two pictures of pixie cuts that were longer on the top and trimmed on the sides. I'm not sure, but my stylist thought I needed "bangs", and cut a crooked line straight across, 3/4 of the way up my forehead. There was no way to save it, it was cut too short on the first pass and there was nothing left to work with. The whole time the stylist was finishing the cut she kept saying "your hair is too straight for this cut" which was really upsetting, especially because the earlier mistake meant there was nothing else to do. It felt like she was trying to blame me for the cut looking awful... Tried not to cry, paid (the price for a long haircut, and my hair was well above my ears, so also didn't understand that but I was too embarrassed to challenge it) and got out of there. Pasted what remained of my hair down with hair gel and am now in a very long wait to regrow my hair. The entire experience, from reservation (we reserved an appointment with a specific person, but upon arrival were told that she does not have us on her schedule), the quality of the haircut, and the attitude of the people when we pointed out the sub-par service they had provided, was a disaster. Frank should not be allowed to cut hair, period. He should literally be banned from cutting hair, thats how bad he is. I will say that there are a couple people in this shop can cut hair well. He is NOT one of them. I cannot fathom how someone cuts hair for 20+ yrs and is this bad, seriously. I cannot stress this enough, if Frank is your barber and there is no one else available just get up and walk out, quietly and quickly. If left with the decision to get a haircut from a weedwhacker or Frank, I'd gladly submit myself and my sons to a beating from a gas powered lawn tool. WARNING My hair got chopped off and destroyed at this place. This is a review for color specifically: BALAYAGE They get two stars because they tried to fix it on a second visit and I give them credit for at least trying. I had gotten my hair color done there multiple times (original ash blonde balayage) with Stacey. After that, I got a gray/silver balayage with Victoria and then got it re done by Suzie. Each and every single time I was so pleased and SO in love with my hair. I showed the girls pictures and they delivered. Because I had had such good experiences with different stylists at this place (without a prior consultation appt) I just went with the person that they said "she does Color. She'll be able to do your balayage". They assigned me to Katherine K. She was polite and friendly. Unfortunately, she DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT COLOR. I should've known better and stopped her right when she started talking about wigs because her hair was so damaged from coloring (it looked REALLY bad). My hair was very long (bra strap length) and I asked her to cut off a little bit to get rid of my burnt ends. She started the bleaching process, finished, blow dried and added the color. I remember thinking in my head "is she NOT going to tone anything?!?!" I shut my mouth "remember. She's the professional, NOT YOU!" After she's done, she looks at me and says "well, your hair didn't lift like I wanted it to. We are going to have to go with a darker blonde.... blah blah" I agree to give her one more chance. 2 hours later... I realize that not only did her balayage fail, her cut did too! She left me with a really bad, uneven bob cut. I never asked for a bob cut! at the end, I payed the 200 plus $ and I left the place around 10PM, sobbing because I wanted to shave my head off completely! I called the manager to have it fixed. After speaking to the manager on the phone, I came back to have it fixed by the person that cuts my boyfriends hair (she doesn't normally do color -not her preference) a few days later. She had to cap my hair and try to deal with an F-ed up balayage and a bad haircut. She tried her absolute best and she improved it a lot (enough that I was able to attend that event that I had to go to that weekend). The truth Is that the color wasn't what I wanted and it was destroyed beyond repair (I simply couldn't get the length back.) I'm writing this review because I don't want people to end up like me. I am a person that absolutely hates her hair now. It is short and choppy, it's dry and it has a permanent F-ed up balayage. I haven't gotten it done ever since for several reasons: 1. I wanted to let my hair rest after so much bleaching, dying, capping, etc 2.It's growing very slowly 3. I'm terrified to have anyone else touch my hair. The conclusion that I have come to is that all the good girls that used to do color left the place. I hope they will hire good ones now, or a better front desk person who will know how to assign a stylist. I still love the place, the vibe, the music, the other stylists. I needed a haircut for my sister's wedding later in the week so I came on my day off which was today. The barber took her time and I felt like I was getting a good haircut so I tipped exceptionally well. I won't specify the amount but later I rinsed the product out of my hair and saw uneven waves on my fade. It was also uneven around the specific point I addressed where I needed it to be even. I recently lost my stylist because she quit working at the salon I was going to. So, after reading reviews, I landed on seeing Ara at Floyd's. This is worse than I even dreaded. I showed her three pictures, two of the side shave and undercut, one of the hairstyle I wanted. She confirmed she understood. My hair was about an inch below my shoulders, but I knew I had damage, so I told her I wanted to keep it as long as possible while still cutting off the damage since Inwas growing it out. She mentioned she would cut it above my shoulders so it wouldn't flip, and I agreed since I don't like the flip either. She made sure I liked the shape she was going to do for the shave, but after that, she stopped communicating with me. I felt like the scissors were a little high, but I couldn't see and wasn't facing the mirror. I tried to calm myself since I can be very particular, but I walked out with my hair only a little below my earlobes. THAT'S a little above my shoulders?!?! I specifically told her I was trying to grow it out and had been working on that for awhile after having a pixie. She took me back at least 9 months of growing out my hair. I used to be able to put my hair in a decent ponytail, and now it barely stays behind my ears. I told her "Oh my God, this is really short. I didn't think you were going to cut this short. This is going to take getting used to." Then she tells me she thinks it looks good. REALLY? Because you were supposed to cut my hair so I would think it looks good. But glad you like your work. I paid as quickly as possible to get out of there, but then I realized that it was ridiculous that I even had to pay when it was clearly not even close to what I asked for. I asked to see the manager and spoke with Joe who was extremely apologetic, offered to try to fix my hair or provide a refund, and then said he would be more than happy to do my hair next time. I truly appreciated his offer and willingness to work with me; however, my hair is so short, I'm not sure how he would fix it. I was so defeated and ready to go home. Bottom line: I have no idea how good anyone else in the shop is, but Ara botched my hair and didn't come close to giving me the cut I asked for, but Joe the store manager provides great customer service. She gets very good reviews by other people, but I feel like everyone should know that they may be dealing with someone who is hit or miss. Are you someone who likes to take a risk, or do you want someone who always gets glowing reviews? I'd give my experience zero stars, but I'll give two since Joe was great.
