Agape is the perfect place for this. During the day (weather permitting) the dogs are kept in big outdoor pens on soft grass. Each dog gets their own pen, but they are large enough that our big boys share one. At night, everyone goes inside to their indoor pens. Jason is careful to keep all the dogs from having direct contact, but they can all hear and see each other so they never get lonely. I love that this place is laid back and flexible but takes great care of the animals.

Jason texted me Thursday 12/1 explaining they lost my dog... on Sunday, so it took him four days to contact me after losing my dog. Jason did not do enough when it came to searching for my dog. Did not post online. Did not hang up flyers. Did not help with search party. We recovered my dog after 12 days, but Jason and Agape Acre Kennels have yet to pay for the costs for losing my dog (flyers and vet visit). Overall, Jason is a nice guy who means well but he is not good at maintaining his kennel. There is no double gate system for dogs to enter and exit safely. Jason's lack of action after losing my dog was egregious. He paid me lip service and effectively did nothing. Also I found out they lost another dog a few weeks earlier, see screenshots from NextDoor and Facebook's Austin Lost and Found Pets.

Angel doused my cat in chemical flea spray without even asking me first. I told Angel my cat had never had a bath before. When he turned on his terrifyingly loud water sprayer, my cat freaked out. My cat didn't calm down and he told me to run and get a bucket to put the water in. I frantically ran to get a bucket (why didn't HE have a water bucket???) and when I came back, my cat was running down the street soaking wet with soap and flea spray. W. T. F. I finally caught my cat (thank god) and Angel asked if I could rinse him myself. I said I could and so he left. I rinsed Colbert with water but little did I know that didn't remove the flea spray. My cat puked that entire night because he ingested flea spray. Angel was nice enough to answer my calls that night and give me advice (hence the 2 star and not 1 star review), but really that was probably because he was concerned about liability. And after all that, guess what? He gave me a $5 discount. FIVE DOLLAR DISCOUNT for having to chase my cat down the freaking street. Wow, this review has been so upsetting to write that I think I need a drink now...

Jen came highly recommended by a close friend who knew Jen from her work with a local shelter. What I signed up for was a great dog walker. What I got was that and so much more! My dogs are a bit neurotic, I must admit. They dislike bikes, squirrels, cats and other dogs. I was a nervous have someone else walk them but I was very reassured by Jen's experience with difficult dogs. She met with me and met my pups beforehand as well to make sure it was a good fit. To say hiring Jen and Lotus to help me with my dogs was one of the best things I ever did for them may sound like an exaggeration, but it is not. They are so happy when I get home and are much, much better on leash now and are less reactive on walks. Jen also basically crate trained one of my dogs, who previously hated his crate! Now I catch him hanging out in there on his own. I can't recommend Jen enough. What you get with her services is not only dog walking but someone who truly cares about your pups. Plus her billing is easy and straightforward. I even get photos of my dogs from each visit :) In short, my dogs are more happy at the end of the day because of her!

No more struggling with claw marks and fur all over the tub, shaken water on my bathroom ceiling, and every towel I own in a dripping wet pile on the floor. The place was nice and clean and very empty on a Tuesday afternoon. A super sweet girl was working there, and sat on the floor to help coax my shy shaking puppy in. She had my puppy inside the door and wagging her tail in no time! There's a large movable staircase for the dogs to climb up into the baths, but my dog was too fearful to attempt the stairs so with the attendant's help we lifted her up into the bath. You can hook your dog as tightly as you want to the edge of the bath, and everything you need is within reaching distance. A nice high powered sprayer, shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaners, even dog cologne! I especially liked the little rubber latherer to scrub her with and the specialty deshedding brush. There are plenty of towels and a forceful blow-dryer. (Although the air in the dryer was cold and I wish it had been warmer). The cost for my medium size dog was just under $20, but I was told that on Wednesdays between 4 and 6 is half price dog washing. Awesome, I will try that next time!

In the 11 years I've had my dog she's never had a matted hair issue to require a shave down, yet two weeks ago Dirty Dog shaved her face down without asking first. When my husband went to pick her up they told him her fur was matted and they needed to shave her face. I honestly don't know how this could have been the case because we had just given her a bath two weeks prior in anticipation of our newborn's arrival. She looked completely unrecognizable and had a missing patch of fur on each side of her face. Which leads me to believe the groomer made a mistake and had to minimize the damage by shaving her down. I have tried to address this with the store directly but they have been unresponsive. Unfortunately I had to leave Sophie out of our family pics because I didn't want to look at the pics for years after and be upset that she was so unrecognizable. My tip to all customers is to be very specific before you leave your dog and tell them you need a phone call before they make a drastic cut on your behalf.
