I took our newly adopted puppy to Dirty Dog for the first time. What a great concept these do it yourself dog wash stations are! No more struggling with claw marks and fur all over the tub, shaken water on my bathroom ceiling, and every towel I own in a dripping wet pile on the floor. The place was nice and clean and very empty on a Tuesday afternoon. A super sweet girl was working there, and sat on the floor to help coax my shy shaking puppy in. She had my puppy inside the door and wagging her tail in no time! There's a large movable staircase for the dogs to climb up into the baths, but my dog was too fearful to attempt the stairs so with the attendant's help we lifted her up into the bath. You can hook your dog as tightly as you want to the edge of the bath, and everything you need is within reaching distance. A nice high powered sprayer, shampoo, conditioner, ear cleaners, even dog cologne! I especially liked the little rubber latherer to scrub her with and the specialty deshedding brush. There are plenty of towels and a forceful blow-dryer. (Although the air in the dryer was cold and I wish it had been warmer). The cost for my medium size dog was just under $20, but I was told that on Wednesdays between 4 and 6 is half price dog washing. Awesome, I will try that next time! read more

If you decide to take your dog in for a groom before family pictures make sure you specify that they shouldn't butcher your dog's hair. In the 11 years I've had my dog she's never had a matted hair issue to require a shave down, yet two weeks ago Dirty Dog shaved her face down without asking first. When my husband went to pick her up they told him her fur was matted and they needed to shave her face. I honestly don't know how this could have been the case because we had just given her a bath two weeks prior in anticipation of our newborn's arrival. She looked completely unrecognizable and had a missing patch of fur on each side of her face. Which leads me to believe the groomer made a mistake and had to minimize the damage by shaving her down. I have tried to address this with the store directly but they have been unresponsive. Unfortunately I had to leave Sophie out of our family pics because I didn't want to look at the pics for years after and be upset that she was so unrecognizable. My tip to all customers is to be very specific before you leave your dog and tell them you need a phone call before they make a drastic cut on your behalf. read more

We've been bringing my golden retriever and my boyfriend's Finnish Spitz dog here regularly for years. We usually do the DIY dog baths and they're perfect. With two giant fluffy pups it takes forever to get them shampooed and rinsed so being able to do it where I can stand up straight and not be bent over in the bathtub at my house is wonderful for my back! They have tons of great bath stuff for the doggos too! Regular shampoo, specialty shampoo, ear wash, more brushes and combs than you could ever possibly need, lots of fluffy white towels and industrial furdryers! Also waterproof aprons for the humans so my clothes stay (relatively) dry!!! One time at Dirty Dog, I did get my golden a proper groom, I asked for the "puppy cut", which is perfect for goldens & they did a great job! :) however I don't even spend $70 for my own haircuts so I don't feel like paying $70 for my dog. I'm not one to complain, but my dog's coat was completely butchered. I have a double coat, very fluffy girl. I asked just for her legs to be trimmed a bit with scissors. Instead I got a completely shaved dog. All the fur on her back end is gone, her stomach was shaved, and her chest has been clipped short. I'm honestly devastated. My guess is this place just isn't familiar with double coat dogs at all. Thankfully it's only fur and it will grow back, but for now my sweet girl looks absolutely horrendous. read more

We use the Dirty Dog self-service dog-washing bins to wash our dirty dog. What a great design, concept and even better execution. We haven't had our dog groomed there but the self service option is awesome after a long day at the lake etc... The employees are great with our dog and have always been super helpful. Dirty Dog on William Cannon was just pretty much perfect. I've been to do it yourself dog washes in three different states now and their setup was essentially like the others I've been in. I like that the shampoo is in a bottle and not added to the water and I liked being able to blow dry my dog right in the tub instead of having to put her up on a table. While neither I or my dog slipped I was surprised there were no rubber mats on the floor. A couple of people mentioned the tip line on the credit card slip and I'm thinking that's for the groomers for those people who don't want to do the grooming themselves. The woman who worked there was very nice and helpful.....I wish I had gotten her name. Oh and this is the best priced do it yourself dog wash I've ever been to. I love this place! It's never too crowded and the front desk girls are always super helpful; this comes specially handy when you take two dogs to wash. I know that I could wash my kiddos at home but a) I don't have to be on my knees here b) the blow dryer is neither too hot nor too cold since it was made to dry fur c) one of my dogs is very afraid of people, so me doing it is very soothing for him. The only reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because I sometimes take them for full grooming appointments and that is very pricey (compared to the other local place, where my dogs are regulars). I have to say I love this idea! Everything you need to give your dog a bath with no mess in your own bathtub. There was shampoo, wet combs, dry combs, ear cleaner, dryers and even a perfume. The place was very clean and well kept. I had never been there before and I was walked through how and what to use for my medium size dog. There was a young lady working and she was extremely nice and gave me helpful tips for my dog when I told her my dog was being washed to move her from an outside dog to an inside dog. This is a great solution for apartment dwellers who don't have a hose in their bathtub. They provided everything I needed and then some. In addition, the raised bathtubs were highly appreciated. I didn't give them more stars because the attendant didn't seem to be happy to be there and the ambiance was kind of stale. The combination of the two made me feel like a crazy lady talking to her dog so I would highly recommend some music or something. My dog was REALLY nervous about climbing those stairs and the slippery floors didn't really help much. There is nothing they could do about dogs that are scared of stairs, but I would recommend some plastic mats on those floors for dog paw traction. I'll add that the tip line on the credit card slipped confused me since I had just done all the work myself. I understand they clean up after you but since I didn't process that until after I walked out, my tip was $0. These girls are amazing!! I have two dogs I take to see these awesome people; one is cool with whatever, one usually has to be muzzled because he hates it so much. At Dirty Dog this has never been an issue. They love my boys and they love them. The most recent example is, I have a sweet peek-a-poo, whom is in renal failure. He has been in and out of the hospital over the last 2 months and not feeling well. They took him in with open arms and gave him a much needed bath and trim. Chelsey is our groomer extrordanaire! Easy, simple, and clean! I came in Sunday 30 minutes before close to get my dog's nails clipped and give her a bath. The groomer was so personable, educated me on watching her dew claws and keeping them from growing in, and managed to keep my puppy calm for her first nail clipping. I loved that the played mellow ballad oldies so it gave the place a great welcoming vibe. You can tell the employees must enjoy working there because they are welcoming and helpful. This is my first dog and the girl working made sure to explain how to use the Furminator so that I could make sure my pup was healthy and happy. I love the shampoo, cologne, ear cleaning. I took my nervous pup in for the self wash. (First timers). The employee working was very sweet and helpful. She explained how the process worked in detail and was close by for assistance. We clipped my pup into their collar and leash that held him in the tub. They supply shampoo, ear cleaner, perfume, brushes, towels, and a dryer. I proceeded to wash at our pace and never felt rushed. I have been taking my miniature schnauzer here since he was a puppy. They have always done a such a great job and the staff is always so nice and friendly. What I also like about this place is that they have the tubs, shampoo, combs, dryers etc (everything you could possibly need to bathe your dog) in the event you wanted to do it yourself. Dirty Dog is great! I've always gotten a mobile groomer out to the house because I was nervous about leaving my dog somewhere, but I had not had good experiences recently. A friend of mine recommended Dirty Dog, and I couldn't be happier. My dog had gotten nervous with the grommers due to bad experiences, and I let the staff know at Dirty Dog when I dropped him off. The staff were extremely caring, and let me know that he had done great, but definitely nervous, but that they think with a few visits of having the same person, he should be able to get more comfortable with it. Not to mention, this was by far the best groom he has ever had! You can really tell that the staff knows what they are doing, and care about the dog that they are grooming. I'm very disappointed in my experience with Dirty Dog today. Typically, I've had a great experience, but unfortunately, I will not be back after today. First, they told us our dog would be ready by 2pm when we dropped her off at 8am. When 4:30pm rolled around we called and they stated it would be a bit longer. Finally, they called us back at 5:50pm to let us know she was ready. When we arrived we were guilt tripped with being there 10 minutes after close (6pm) and they let us know two different times they should charge us a late fee because they called an hour ago-which was absolutely not true. I'm honestly really disappointed in their customer service and the way they treated us as a consumer when we are the ones spending the money and waiting around all afternoon and then receive the guilt trip when we arrive. They are friendly, and very good with the dogs. My dogs are never scared to get groomed here. They used to try to avoid going into the old groomers and it was a chore to take them. The girls at Dirty Dog use great soaps that smell clean & sweet but not overpowering. Best of all it does not dry out their skin. The dogs feel velvety soft on day one and it lasts until their next "spa day". They work by appointment to groom or you can go use the self serve dog was stations. They even have dog biscuits out for the visiting dogs. The prices are reasonable and they have multiple locations. They are far better than PetCo or PetSmart groomers. Plus your supporting a local business. Their downtown location has a shop attached where you can buy collars, leashes, and other pet items. Give them a try you won't go anywhere else. read more

I'm pretty new to the whole dog grooming scene, but I love Dirty Dog. The people that work here are really nice, and they seem to genuinely like and care about your dog. They'll trim your dogs hair up any way you like it. We rescued a schnauzer a while back and took him in here and they said "you want traditional schauzer cut?". Not knowing what that meant, we said yes, and it came out great! Since then, we've expiremented with different styles and always been pleased. I think this place is awesome for nails trims and washing your own pet. I will most likely bring my pets back to do self washes. Due to all the glowing reviews I scheduled for my pug to be groomed. My fella was dropping off and picking up. I was very appreciative of them accommodating my schedule and allowing my pug to be dropped off at 9am. I also, was very explicit that they ring my boyfriend when she is finished. She was finished at the time they said she would be. I really like the wash they did on her. I paid a little extra for the oatmeal bath and it was great for her. Now the loss of a star or two- I asked for a nail trim and anal glands to be expressed. It looked like only some of her nails were trimmed. As for the anal glands, that was a no. I took her to the vet this morning for her annual visit. They asked when her glands were last expressed and I said, "two weeks ago at the groomers". Nope. They went to express them and said, "there was a lot to express". I get it, it's gross but don't offer that service if you aren't going to do it. I paid for two services that weren't rendered. Yes, the self washing is great but I won't use the grooming services again. read more

I take my Pomeranian here to get groomed every couple of months and these gala are so awesome! My doggie is, ahem, somewhat delicate and kind of a big ol cry baby. This is no challenge for this place and my doggie absolutely lights up whenever we arrive at dirty dog. He runs up to whomever is working and is actually really excited to visit. One of the ladies noticed that Drake (my dog) hates having his nails clipped and instead she takes the time to file them which I imagine is no easy task as he is quite the wiggle worm. Anyway I am really thankful for this place and as it is so close to my home I consider it a double win! called for a quote at a lamar location for a full groom and they quoted $60-$70. when i called the william cannon location they quoted $85-$95!! so i called back to the s lamar location the next day and the quote went up a little from $65-$75. extremely poor service and customer service. how can the same company at a different location be that much more expensive for the same service. never going to a dirty dog again!! read more

I took my puppy, a Yorkie, for his first groom and I got him back with a completely shaved body and nothing on his head touched. Both his back legs were completely shaved and his front two legs were half shaven and looked ragged. It seems that they just gave up when trying to work with him. His hair was a little matted under his belly before I took him in but that is no excuse for an entirely shaved body. His nails also did not get trimmed until I made a point for them to check. I was very upset when I got home and got a chance to actually look at him. I am a very proud doggie mom, but not now with a dog with a terrible haircut. My dog was not the same dog for the next 24 hours, he was scared of anyone that touched him. Definitely will not be taking my poor pup back to this place. Would not recommend taking your pup here unless you are open for a surprised hair cut. read more

There is a place here in Dripping & I went twice but it's small & I have a Terrible time with my Odie cause he just can't help out. So I make the drive to Austin.
