I was here recently for a chin-wag with an old friend and we enjoyed our 90 minutes or so in the bright, bustling surroundings. We each had a cappuccino and a scone. The cappuccino was decent. Not too milky - just how like it. The scone was a wee bit dry but good all the same, served with cream and jam -my favourite! The staff were lovely, very friendly having chats with customers (everybody knows everybody so of course they are!) and just being generally smiley, which makes the cafe quite cheerful.

The cafe is small in size and was quiet despite it being early on a Saturday, there were a handful of older couples and some of the girls working in the supervalue next door on their lunchbreaks. Staff were super friendly and seemed to know their local customers which made the place feel really homely. We ordered full Irish breakfasts which were really tasty and came out in good time but I felt the lack of attention to detail really let the place down... Some of the mugs and plates were chipped and many were mismatching in design or colour which just let down the presentation and feeling of attention to the little things!

The person who I think must be the owner seems to do the rounds walking around asking if everyone is OK and making small talk to the regulars. This is a wonderful thing that rarely happens in Dublin anymore. They have booths and tables. It is small enough so tables and booths are quite close to each other. My only gripe is the toilets. They aint the prettiest but they seem to be fairly clean, just not well maintained. But hey, I'm not having a piss in Brown Thomas. I am having a piss in a greasy spoon in Finglas Village. I like the fact that everything is so simple yet clean and elegant. It is a small space though and I wouldn't be too comfortable there on a really busy day but with the place getting bigger that problem should go away. The staff were pleasant enough, no issues there. I didn't eat anything yesterday but I usually grade a place based on how good their coffee is and it was good so for that reason I will be back. Not sure yet if they can match the gorgeous food I got earlier in the coffee shop in the nearby Botanic Gardens but I suppose they will have enough footfall to counter that. And things seem to be improving day by day.
