I can't believe this is my first time here since I'm from San Francisco and have been to Pier 39 countless times. My friends and I rode the Zombie ride for the first time and it was so much fun! The 3D glasses and the whole experience felt so real! The price was about $11-12 for 10 minutes I believe which is quite expensive but it is worth the experience especially if you don't come around to SF often. I wish I would've known about the check in discount from Yelp but I'll use it next time :) P.S. Pictures are $5 which is a decent price considering how cool you look with your gun and 3D shades lol! read more

I've gone here a few times now. The first time, I used a Yelp deal (at the time the price was also cheaper). Not too long ago, my brother and his boyfriend came for a visit. We decided to have a day trip at the pier and of course, I recommended coming here. With the price increase, it was going to be a bi expensive to pay full price for my brother, his boyfriend, myself, my boyfriend, and of course our dear mother. I remembered the Yelp deal so I told my brother to check it out on his phone. The deal was ok, it wasn't the same deal as before. I remember seeing a deal on Groupon, turns out the deal is only good 24 hours AFTER you buy. My brother decided to check out livingsocial. Score, we got a deal! No restrictions. In the meantime, the guy at the register, I don't remember his name but I guess he is the one in charge of putting out the deals, is being pretty rude to us. He didn't like that we were looking for deals. We got our livingsocial deal which covered 4 tickets and used a Yelp check in for the 5th. He was not happy about that. While we were getting our tickets, a group of people came in line behind us. They asked us how much the tickets cost and my brother told them about the livingsocial deal. Next thing we know, the guy at the register (who was already not happy with us and our deals) just says something along the lines of, "This is why we don't like accepting deals, you tell others." He hands us our tickets in an angry fashion. This was the end of our interaction with him. So, a star is lost for the poor attitude. The other star is lost because, the games (I believe it's 4 games) have not changed and for the amount of time we spend between standing in line for tickets that are over priced, then in line to get in, plus watching the instructional video, the game is incredibly short. On a side note, if you don't want people to use the deals, don't post them up. If you are going to post them up, don't get an attitude when someone actually uses them. Use the Groupon deal!!! Followed that advice in another yelp review when my boyfriend and I came through pier 39 and spotted this location. The people are extremely friendly. Some notes: ride was like 5 minutes long, so 24 dollars (no Groupon deal price- it's 15 with Groupon) seems like it would be pretty unsatisfying. The seats are pretty narrow which was okay for me because I'm a small person. You wear 3D glasses. We only did the ride, not the maze, and it was decent fun. The guns could be calibrated better. Overall giving it one shot was worth it. read more

I can't believe that there's not a review for this yet! It's like nothing I have ever been to! Have you ever been to Disneyland? If so, it's like Star Tours and Toy Story combined (but way better!). If not, then this may help describe it... It's a short film/game where each person competes to shoot trolls or robots, depending on which one you play. Not only do you get to watch and play, it's also a ride that moves you around and makes you feel like you're falling off cliffs at times! There were a couple of people who may have screamed... or maybe it was just me. Haha. I went with some friends and we all had an awesome time! The second time I went there was a family and it was really funny watching the kids compete against the parents for the highest score. I'll definitely be going back! read more

Ahhhh !!! Better than 3d....lol . This place is something else. First of all I never heard of 7D. We came here after we walked around after eating lunch. My wife bought tickets for us prior to coming in San Francisco. Today was a full day for our family. We went to look for this place and it was in the north tip of pier 39 ( where they have those street performers) for people who have not been on pier 39, it is an area that has amusement entertainment, restaurants, aquariums, and a whole lot of street performers. Its a tourist trap. This was new to me though. It's new in pier 39 and it's pretty cool to have technology and interactive digital video games come together. We were treated for a "ride" we chose killing zombies LOL . (They give you choices which game you want to participate ) the girls like the zombies so we did. I didn't know what to expect but wow. That was different. We had a brief instructions and some cheesy comedy comments from the host. After all the instructions , We went inside a large video screen room , chairs with seat belts, and we all strapped in. I realize it will be a driving kind of video but to amazement, it felt like we were inside the car and in the video Itself. Oh forgot they gave us this 7d glasses and it made the difference. Although the graphics was like an Xbox graphics , but it felt like we were also those characters in side the video. Well we shoot any zombies coming for us and shoot and shoot....it was the ride that really made this game exciting. You are in a vehicle and the chair that you are fastened moves accordingly with how and when you crash or tumble down (ravines , cliffs ....) it felt like your really in it, felt like your gonna get hurt when you crash. I hear others (including me) scream once in a while. it was lots of fun ..... But too short. All in all it only took 15minutes for everything then your done . I've been meaning to write a review for this place because it is so much fun! It's super affordable and it's a great idea for kids or even adults too! My girlfriend and I are super competitive when it comes to games and we had a blast playing the different simulations. They have many options to choose from and it's such a unique experience. Also I'd like to give a huge shoutout to the amazing staff! The staff members we spoke with were super friendly and they answered all of our questions. We even asked them which simulations they enjoyed and we ended up choosing one of their recommendations. I had so much fun here and I'll definitely be coming back. read more

If it wasn't for a Groupon, I'd never come here. Sorry I just think it's totally over priced for what it is. That being said, since it WAS a Groupon, this was super fun. It can be kind of a wait, but once you get in you start in on the video. The seats shake and there is a fan to immerse you in the video. The downside of the game is that most of the things on screen don't really react to what you do. I mean, 600+ rounds into a zombie and you'd at least expect it to slow down. Nope. All that animation is on rails. Couple of quick tips: 1. Your receipt is good for a discount on your second or more runs on the same day. Totally worth it. Super fun! A & I went on a double date tonight with my lil sis & her husband (!) and decided to go here. The lil sis had seen a posting on FunCheapSF that Dark Ride is celebrating their 2 year anniversary, so if you mention FunCheap when you pay, rather than $10/person, it's only $2/person. $40 down to $8 for the four of us? Talk about a steal! Street parking was fairly easy, but it was about 7:30pm. We checked in and they were just about to start a robot one, so we just did that. As all the other reviewers mentioned, it's pretty short, but fun. The chairs really move and you can feel the wind and heat of fire. There were 14 people total playing the game so I wasn't sure which laser was mine. I had to shoot mine when there were no robots so I could see what color my laser was. I ended up getting 7th place, which wasn't too shabby, but nowhere near the 1st place that A got. Yeah, he rocks (my socks). This is a fun activity, but it's short and a bit of a trek to get to. Also, I wouldn't go again for $10/person. $2/person? I'm totally there. read more

What a fun way to feel like a kid again on a Friday evening! The Zombies game is WAY BETTER than the cowboy robots game! Came here with a Groupon of $15 for $30 which gives 2 people one game to play each. But, we got there and saw that it actually only costs $10 a person to play, so you're only getting a $5 discount. +Zombie game- SO creepy, exhilarating, interactive and only 5 minutes. My husband's gun was broken and he didn't get to shoot much. Luckily, the manager was super accommodating and let us play 2 more games! +Cowboy Robots game- this was less tame and better for young children but nothing compared to the Zombies game. This was such a fun experience with the family!! My parents and brother came out to visit me and I purchased a groupon/living social for 7D (half price, winning)! There wasn't much of a line and we only had to wait for the previous game to finish (approx 15 minutes). Once the previous people finish we were guided into a room that that shows a demo video and explains the rules to you: what to shoot, what not to shot, bonuses, etc. The instructions are brief, about 5 minutes. After the intro video we were let into the theater and were free to choose our seats. The seats move during the game so you have to buckle up! We decided on the Zombie themed game and were glad we did (I had flashbacks of my Resident Evil days). The screen is fairly large, though not as large as a movie theater screen. There are two rows or seats that accommodate about 20 people in all. The game was about as fun as you can imagine, though probably not for those who get dizzy. It's basically everyone in the theater vs the zombies on the screen. Shot as many as you can! Hit the bonuses, high score gets......well, bragging rights. The only thing I wasn't happy with was how short of an experience this was. I think the whole thing was about 10-15 minutes. Since I only paid half price with a coupon I wasn't too upset, but had I paid full price I may have been. read more

7D might be a bit of an exaggeration here because our hero certainly didn't break through the space-time continuum on this ride It's essentially a 3D movie experience with laser guns and a vibrating seat. Not to say it's not awesome... because it totally IS. Our hero tried the zombies shoot 'em up experience, which is really entertaining for those who like to watch The Walking Dead or play classic arcade shooters like House of the Dead. He couldn't get enough afterwards and went back for the much more family friendly robot cowboy game. Both were pretty exciting experiences, although somewhat embarrassing getting beaten by his date at a video game. This is definitely a fun date or family activity, so try it out if you're in the tourist trap known as Pier 39. You've already paid $20 for parking, so what's another $15 for a 7 minute video game? PROS: - Very immersive and fun. It's like the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disneyland meets an IMAX movie. - They have 3 different experience for kids and adults that could use a scare. CONS: - The regular admission price is definitely not worth it. Be on a lookout for a groupon or promotion for this place if you want to go. - The staff doesn't seem very excited about having to say the same lines every single day over and over again and aren't really the friendliest to interact with. read more

It is a lot of fun, makes me feel like a little kid again all while using my killer instincts to save our world from ZOMBIES! But it is way too short, I wish it was a lot longer! The boyfriend had gotten one free ticket from Alice's Now & Zen (he received a couple for free tickets for different attractions at the Pier and the 7D Experience was one of them) so we only had to pay for one more ticket or I doubt we would have other come by ourselves. But I am glad we had the opportunity to come check out the 7D Experience because it was quite fun and I felt like a little kid again. I think this would be a great little place for the little kids but beware, the zombies might scare some of them because they do pop out of the screen (hence 7D Experience) but they do have another one which is a robot experience. read more

Got a groupon for this place it was $15 for two people and it also came with a free photo. I've never been on this ride before but it was so much fun and it was a blast shooting zombies, I actually got fifth place in the end. The experience was great and I loved all of the special effects and how the seats moved. It was pretty thrilling lol. Would definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to have a good time. I bought the Groupon deal and the bestfriend and I redeemed it today. I didn't expect much from it honestly. It just looked like something fun to do. And after having doing it, it really was! We laughed the entire way through because we suck as shooters and we were trying to restrain ourselves from cussing because children were nearby. I love that it's interactive and that the chairs move. It's totally everything you'd want in an attraction like this. Ps. The pictures they take during the ride are so hilarious. They display it on the screen along with your score. Super funny! You can also buy a copy afterwards. I would come back, but only if there was another deal. $10 to ride is too much IMO. read more

This was SO fun! We stumbled in here one night not knowing what it was. After watching the live cam we wanted to try! My boyfriend and I paid $20 for the both of us. We asked how long it would be and were told 10 minutes.. My only complaint is this wasn't true... It was about 4 minutes long...... Unless they're including the instructional video, then it was 6 minutes.. But playing time was about 4. We did the zombies one. I am a zombie lover and my boyfriend a video game nerd. It was seriously so fun! It's like an interactive competitive, roller-coaster game in 3D! The zombies even scared me a few times. And the pictures at the end are hilarious. We also did the robot cowboys one. It was fun but not as good as the zombies.. We loved this so much that we ended up doing it 4 times total. It does get very pricey, so look for deals or try to get one. I did talk to management about a full day pass and they said they were working on it! However, after 4 times my arms/fingers were dead. I had to ask several people, where this place is located. When I got there, there was a long line which is ordinary on Saturday night. Be careful, there are two lines: 1) For entrance to the 7D Experience; and 2) For ticketing. Don't forget to get your ticket first before you get in line, unless you have someone to save your line. When it was my turn, they will show you the instructions and preview of the video before you go in. Then you will enter the place. I really liked the activity that they offer because I never tried this kind of fun stuff. There was only zombie option but I heard that the zombie one is the best! Also, it is really quick and fast, so focus!!!! After you are done, you are able to see pictures of yourself which costs $5. Even though it was good pictures it wasn't worth it, so I didn't get one. However, you should definitely try with your boyfriend/girlfriend or just friends if you happen to go Pier 39! read more

My review is going out to their laser maze challenge! I didn't try the zombie shooting thing, but if you want to feel like you're in the movie Entrapment with Catherine Zeta Jones ~ go to the small corner in the right. For $5 (just like the mirror maze), you and/or a partner can try and make your way through lazers. It's a fun activity that takes not longer than 5 minutes per round. You also have the option to change your difficulty level from hard to expert. I wish the room was bigger and the course was longer, but for what it was, I would recommend giving it a shot. read more

Recently did this with a bunch of friends from church. The graphics could have been better but still pretty cool nonetheless. I liked how the chairs moved and made you feel like you were falling. The guns were not as accurate as I liked and it was hard to know where you were shooting at. I tried to fire as fast as I could but my trigger wasn't cooperating with me and I didn't get first place. I loved it. My BF loved it even more (I took him there as a surprise). Money wise, it is a little pricey if you are paying the full price, but Groupon makes it a great deal. And what would you expect from touristy place like that? Everything is double price there. We were there on Jan 1st., so it was a little crowded. The guy working there - Phillip was super nice and did his best to insure we had the best experience. We really appreciated that. You should see those kid's faces on their way out, it's really fun! It was very comfortable playing the game - the seats moved and with the air blowing and mimicking the motions of the game - it was a truly fun experience!!!! I dragged everyone here during our SF trip because it sounded like a lot of fun. It was pretty much what I expected ... you sit in a theater, buckle your seatbelt, grab a gun controller and shoot at the screen. We picked the zombie one... seats move as zombies pop out. You gain points for shooting zombies and lose points when you shoot people. I came in 2nd place - Woohoo! It was short, but if you're in the mood to be silly, not a bad experience. Shooting zombies has never been more thrilling. It felt like we were in a movie. Staff was super friendly and the price was reasonable for our big group. Plain and simple, it's fun. I wouldn't do it every week, but I wouldn't mince coming back with some friends every once and a while. read more

Groupon! I brought my family to the pier to have a fun day out. The three teenage boys got tired of walking around aunts and sisters so I looked up placed on the pier geared towards them. I saw that 7D has a group on so I bought passes for all us to play. We chose the zombie game and the family had a great time. It is similar to the virtual rides at Great America but it was better. Both the teens' ands the older moms had a great time competing against each other. I would recommend visitors to try this at least once. A tip: They have the option to get your ranking in a photo but make sure to sit right next to the person whom you want in the picture with you. read more

I am really surprised with this place. I passed it on groupon a number of times thinking aww this game for kids my husband and I wouldn't really like this. But ooo we did and had a ball. He is sooo in love with this place and wants to buy the moving chairs in the future lol. The bad... Only worth it if you buy the ticket on groupon. it was 2 for $15 (original would be $30) and 4 for $29 (original would be $60). It's a super fun experience. We went for the zombies because most of the yelpers said its the best one, it definitely was! but the only problem is although the workers said its 10 mins long, it seems shorter. I wouldn't want to pay original price for it. The fact that you get to shoot zombies and they count points got my 2 guy friends and boyfriend more excited about it! Limited rides to choose from - only 2 options at that time (Road Fighters and Zombie). Yes, rides is like 5-minutes only, sorta like any Universal 4-D rides (except you get a blaster also). I would do it as a one-time experience thing because they're really small location, thank goodness there is no wait for limited 1-screen for all rides. Zombie is great and way too scary for the wife and kids. Try it if you have nothing to do at Pier 39. read more

Giving it a 1 star for my 24 yo bf and myself, maybe a 3 stars if I was a 7 year old kid. Not worth $10 per person, I'd rather watch a good movie instead or buy 40 chicken nuggets from Mc Ds. We played the pirates version and it was a cute cartoon. There wasn't any story line given and after being told "it's about 5 minutes of playing time" it seriously was only about 2-3. It was over so fast and the game aspect was horrendous. The bad guys pop up everywhere and I'm sure they don't die after being shot. It seemed like they just played a 3d video and who ever pressed their gun the most won. Can you tell I'm furious I got beaten by a 9 year old kid? Anyway I definitely did not want to pay $5 for another round. Even if it was free I'd still say no to another round. Save your money for time crisis instead. Appalled. read more

Pretty awesome :) This review is strictly for their free event in conjuction with SF.FunCheap this past Thursday. Normal price is around 10/body but yay for being dedicated FunCheapers. After showing the nice staff proof, we received 2 blue free tickets. FREE!!! Such a beautiful word :) Even if you have to pay, I still think it's a worthy experience (with the 20% check-in deal when you check-in on Yelp) if at Pier 39. There's a line that moves fairly quick - longest wait is like 10 minutes - but even then, we were occupied with the live cam screens they had of people that just went in before us and their scores that are updated every now and then. We ended up staying for the cowboy bandits and zombies shows. Zombies - THE BEST!!!!!! Def do that one. My adrenaline was rushing like crazy as I blasted the zombies. Sooo funnnn :) I do wish they showed signs of cleaning up the 3d glasses, seats, railways, and shooters though - (I have a soft spot for public health) so 1 star off for that (considering that they had over 1000 bodies show up for the free event the previous day). Let's be real. I live in San Francisco, so I'm automatically of the mindset that going to Fisherman's Wharf will lead to no positive outcome. There could be nothing gained from enduring the crowds, the over-priced amusement park food, or the pier workers spending all day trying to sleep with each other and ignoring the screaming European children running around them. But given my mind-set... the 7D Experience isn't so bad when I took some friends there that just had to see the Wharf when they visited the city. Overall, the workers were nice and convincing (but not pushy), the ride was a little pricey (but totally worth it), and the effects were cool! I ended up liking it so much, that I sent my girlfriend over there with the 7 year old boy that she nannies, and he loved it too! read more

COD zombie mode - in real life! My friend and I bought the Groupon and decided to hit it up on a day trip into the city. There's a few different scenarios that you can choose from (something about being a cowboy and some other random one) but for us - unanimous decision to kill zombies! We made a bet - whoever scored the most points between the two of us owed the other dessert. Free food for whooping on my friend? Hell yes. We needed to wait for a little since there was another one going on - each experience is like 15 min from start to finish. There's a mixed crowd composed of kids with the parental units, but some tweens and 20-somethings as well. As like any ride, there's a little introduction showing you how to shoot, what to aim for and a little practice round. What's cool is that they even take your picture so you can view it with your score :D Each person is identified with a different colored laser dot which is nice so then you can see which zombie you're shooting at. Pew pew pew!! It's really fun haha. The zombies and environment really seem like they're coming out at you and your chairs moved as well. The group of you is decently sized - it seemed like there's 20+ people in there. At the end I was sad it was over...but to my joy I beat my friend, thus winning and getting my dessert too! read more

When your customer tells you the worst thing about your service is it's too short you KNOW you have a winner. While walking on the Pier I got impulsive and decided to do the Zombie with my friend, who looked terrified but played along. All I can say is I have not heard her laugh and scream that loud in a LONG time with a game experience! I won't ruin the zombie story but lets just say lots of chair moving, shooting and scary moments that will have you jumping and laughing. BTW.. I won the practice round thank you very much... only to lose the real experience to a kid I want on my side in the REAL zombie apocalypse. Overall while the price is OK for the experience part of me thinks the experience should either be longer or the price a bit cheaper. They do take it down to $5 for your second experience but to be honest it should be $5 across the board since it seemed all of 5 - 7 minutes once the experience begins.
