Though you can certainly order by phone, I do not have access to one during the work day and was able to complete everything via email - including describing the look I wanted, how much I wanted to spend, and the delivery coordination. I am still blown away by how beautiful our wedding flowers were from Flying Bear! We did an a la carte order of bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres. I chose the garden size for my bouquet and the sweet size for the bridesmaid bouquets, thinking they'd likely be pretty small, which was fine with me. But wow we got stunning, large bouquets for all of us that were even more beautiful than I was imagining! I was able to send Melissa and her team a few photos and colors for inspiration and she did the rest of the work, which turned out beautifully. She also offered recommendations for bulk flowers, as our families helped DIY our centerpieces and arbor flowers. Great value for the outstanding work they do! This is the cutest shop! There's flowers and dried flower art and journals and posters and candles, and the staff is so sweet. Hooray! I have the honor to be the first to review the lovely and talented Melissa Brown, aka Flying Bear! My first experience with FBF was in 2009. She transformed the Skansonia Ferry Boat (on the 4th of July, no less) into a magical, colorful, festive space with her well thought out designs and creative placement of bright floral bouquets. All my guests oohed and ahhed over the flowers, which they got to take home. She even made me the most beautiful bridal bouquet I have seen to date! Since my wedding, she has done several others that I have been witness to. Each and every time, her designs take my breath away. Her design aesthetic is whimsical, magical, fantasy, but unique to her. She has always been able to capture the personalities of the bride and groom in her floral displays. She really works some incredible magic! Currently, I donate some of my back yard to her and, in trade, receive scrumptious organic heirloom kale, tomatoes, carrots, peas, chard, peppers (yes! she can grow peppers in the PNW), and other things I have never even heard of! It's always fresh and delicious and I know it's all good because I watch it grow and I watch her working hard to grow her "babies" from seed. All in all, FBF is an amazing artist and farmgirl. She has talents even beyond the ones mentioned above. She is loving and lovely, gives healing hugs that warm the soul and has a smile that can be seen from outer space! I was so, SO thrilled with how everything turned out...she really was the difference in making our wedding feel personal to us. Melissa met with us once to talk about our vision (which, sadly, we didn't have much of!), we gave her a copy of our invitation, a basic budget, and hoped for the best. I've been passing the Flying Bear shop since Melissa opened in my town, Langley. The window makes it clear this is no ordinary florist. What you got here is an artist whose medium is flowers, some she's grown herself with her own green thumb. When you talk with her about what you need/want/wish for, you'd swear she's also an empath. Long story short my sister and I wanted to send my grandparents, who live on the Island, a bouquet. I looked at the different florist options, and after stalking Flying Bear's instagram, I was sold. Everything looked BEAUTIFUL. Working with Melissa was great - she was super understanding when we needed to push back the delivery and seemed truly concerned about my grandparents/family. She prepared a BEAUTIFUL overflowing arrangement - I was blown away and so was the rest of my family. My grandma said it was the prettiest bouquet she has ever seen.
