Came here for a floral workshop which they have once a month. They do close the store for the class once it starts. Before the start they did have wine and charcuterie set up for the attendees which is a nice extra! There were two long tables set up for the attendees so everyone had their own work station. The gal teaching the class gave a lesson about greens and where they are from and what they are used for and how to assemble! They provided all the florals , the vase and supplies for the class. I had such an amazing experience at the petal and the stem today. I called around 3 to see if I could get a last minute bouquet and Zach said they had to close early because they were short staffed but if I could pick up after he went to drop off he could make it happen. The Petal and the Stem has been my go-to florist for years! Corie is an incredible designer and always seems to know exactly what I'm looking for when sending flowers to special people. Often I just tell her who the arrangement is for and why and let her go to town, but recently I've had a couple more specific asks re: color etc and she always ALWAYS knocks it out the park! I am loving The Petal and the Stem's new retail location! It's right in the heart of the Historic Downtown and you literally can't miss it on the corner of Ave D and 1st. Another bonus to this location is the rear parking lot as parking can get tricky on 1st. We like to hop over to browse after dining at our fave nearby establishments. The storefront is HUGE with so many great decor items (I frequently lust over the huge floor pillows with leather handles). The perk to being a florist is showcasing their floral and plant designs throughout the store in unique pots/vases. The first time around was during Valentines where I put in and order and picked up. The second was on a whim where I wanted to get my mom flowers as an appreciation. The florist was out but the pre-made bouquets were just as beautiful and creative as the florist picks I'd gotten previously. The flowers were vibrant and bright, and perfect for spring. It's been over a week and they're still going strong, with being stuck inside a lot more given the pandemic, the arrangement brings some joy into our living space. An hour later, she sent me a picture of the arrangement; she honored all of my requirements, and the resulting arrangement beautifully reflected the three words I specified for the aesthetic: elegant, lush, monochrome. I had flowers sent from this florist to my sister for her birthday. She is local, but I live out of state. The flowers look mostly fresh, but really not close to the picture at all. I've gotten similar quality of arrangements from Whole Foods and can say that that the design elements are similar. My husband had some flowers delivered to me for our 20 year anniversary from The Petal And The Stem. He was embarrassed when he saw the pathetic flower arrangement for which he paid $156 for. $18 was for delivery. Which in itself is high considering we live approximately 9 miles from the shop. $125 was for the arrangement which consisted of 6 red roses and 6 tiny tulips. The rest was greenery which included cutoff tips (looks like a deer got to the tips) It was poorly arranged and definitely not worth $125. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

I was extremely disappointed in the flowers for my niece's wedding. We were expecting arrangements based on a picture of fabric that we sent to her (more than once)--bright colorful, and fun. What was provided was dark, drab, and dull. The fabric drape for the arch matched that--instead of ivory, it was a dullish rust/brown color. When someone came to pick up the stands and jars after the reception we were absolutely flabbergasted to be told that they wanted the flowers back (including the bouquets!) so they could reuse the flowers. We certainly didn't get a price reduction for that and it wasn't in their contract. Overall, difficult to deal with (didn't really listen to us in the two meetings we had with her) and provided flowers that weren't what we wanted--or asked for--at all. read more
