You don't actually need to be a member to go here. I think the brewery would probably benefit from making this clearer, because even though Seattle is the home of a number of famous co-op retailers where membership is optional to shop, I know quite a few people who mistakenly think or have thought this is a members only club (myself included). I think the underlying (incorrect) assumption is that this is more like wework then REI. They have quite a bit of space inside plus a little bit of outside seating. I can't tell you how much I love this place. Flying Bike is a corner stone of the Greenwood community. I have been doing Run Club there for 3 years. They are always rotating their taps with new and exciting beers to try. Their Cold IPA is one of my favorites (please bring it back!) Since Flying Bike is a co-op, members actually work there. They are deeply invested in the success of the business and go above and beyond to hold community events and make it fun for everyone. Cool brewery that lets your create your own beer by mixing what's on drafts. I did two beers, one with lavender and the other with grapefruit and it was pretty good. No name for it but it was tasty. Service was good and staff very friendly. Dog friend as we saw many well-behaved dogs. read more

Great local neighborhood brewery! They have games, indoor and outdoor seating, and are kid and dog friendly. You are welcome to bring your own food, unlike Halcyon next door. I recommend stopping by Green Tree to get some takeout and bring it to Flying Bike to have a beer. Only complaint is the seating is not the most comfortable, and when we walked in it had a very musty smell and was a bit stuffy. I am so disappointed in flying bike. We have been coming here for over 7 years and it's a staple in our circuit of places to have a beer and hang out. But today we went in and purchased our beer and then were asked if we wanted to donate money to the "genocide" in Palestine. Unbelievable. There is a very large Jewish and Israeli population in Seattle. This issue is incredibly complex and sad with people suffering on both sides. No company has the expertise to be taking a side and for a community owned brewery it's incredibly frustrating and disheartening to see a very clear stance on this issue. Unfortunately for my family we can't support a business who doesn't see there is more impacted to this conflict and who is willing to take a stance like this. read more

Love love loved this spot! The vibe of this place is great with the open garage doors and the high ceilings. You can peer around the bar and see the boil kettles/mash tuns where the beer is being brewed. I had the pomegranate dry cider and was a happy camper. My friend ordered us the feta fries and those were a perfect complement to the tasty cider. This place allows dogs and was a great place for people with kids who needed some space to run around. Parking in this area can be a challenge to find, but I like the walkability of this neighborhood. There are so many great restaurants and bars right here at your fingertips. It's always a good time in Greenwood! When we walked out someone told us the food at the brewery comes from next door. If that is the case, kudos to them! They are super yummy! read more

As much as I abhor public drinking establishments that admit children and pets, I must say that I did enjoy my time at the Flying Bike, until the rugrats and dogs showed up, that is. The FBCB has plenty of beers, and the menu on the table offers choices from several of the neighboring restaurtants. We gorged on take-out sushi from right next door as we sipped our suds. The summer ale was a winner and washed down my spider roll splendidly. But back to the atmospere: the deal here is to bring in your own food, dogs, kids, whatever. Flying Bike Cooperative Brewing was within walking distance from our Airbnb, and was our host's favorite spot. This place is much different than other breweries, because it is a co-op, member based brewery, but this didn't make us feel unwelcomed as visitors! We went in shortly after they opened on a Thursday and I enjoyed a flight to sample most of the beers. The girl working was Jenna, and she was so nice chatting with us about our travels. Hey Jenna! We also enjoyed chatting with a regular member at the bar about our future travels to Thailand. I really liked their Scotch Ale, which was a member created beer, and it was 8.5%, didn't taste like it, but sure felt like it! Another bicycle-themed brewpub. Pretty good beer, decent food courtesy of the sandwich shop next door, and high prices, although I guess there are discounts if you are part of their club. Millennial-style service, by which I mean the bartender is more interested in talking to her friends than in serving you, may in fact forget about you completely even if you are sitting right in front of the taps at the bar, and if you're lucky might crack a smile when she gives you the tab, like an afterthought, "Oh yeah, this old fart might tip me, better be nice". That's ok, don't bother. Everyone gets a trophy and life has a reset button, somewhere, right? Not recommended. As you walk in there's bike handlebars mimicking trophy animals on the wall. On the other side there's a spot where families can have there kids play and enjoy a beer. There's plenty of room and seating. It's dog friendly they have snacks and a dog bowl full of water. The ambiance is awesome. The bar tender by the name of Kirk was very nice helpful and friendly. He explains that there was no owner and that the whole thing is pretty much funded by local garage style breweres which made me super interested. I had the cherry tart sour. It was honestly one of the top 5 sour beers I had ever had. I also tried the hazy my buddy described it as a mild hoppy beer was married to a mimosa. Tasty beer. The co-op model here is really fun. People can buy memberships (or could, anyway) and become a part owner of the joint. Members submit recipe ideas from their own homebrews, and all vote on what will get added to the lineup next. The brewmaster is a serious brewer; he has been a pro brewer all over this town for 25 years and he's incredibly talented. But he's also incredibly gung-ho about the co-op approach, and delights in making beers from recipes that members submit. He makes his own, too, and the resulting lineup is really good. The space is awesome. It's so cool to see it converted for brewing use. They have a couple front doors and plenty of big windows fronting on Greenwood, and a big high-ceilinged tasting room. Lots of booths, lots of tables, lots of barstools. Their staff behind the bar is charming and funny and well-informed, and they pour about 20 house-made beers. Prices are great. Past the tasting area, there are restrooms (and a little office) to the left, and the big brewhouse is to the right. You can clearly see big shiny stainless steel tanks and could walk right in there if you felt so bold (not that this is allowed). It all feels like a scrappy little bootstrapped operation, and it kinda is. They raised the money themselves, mostly from themselves. They mounted a bunch of bicycle handlebars on the wall like hunting trophies, and they had a local artist paint some whimsical murals on the walls that make it feel like a little kid's nursery. It's all very family-focused and community-centered that way. Best of all, the beer is good, and they actively collaborate with other breweries. In fact, they brew beers with the brewery next door, and will run a hose across the beer garden if they need to move tank space around--one brewhouse to boil, and the other to ferment. I love seeing stuff like this, especially when the beer is this good. read more

I have fallen madly in love with this brewery and feel like I could become a regular here! This brewery is a cooperative which means there are a number of indviduals are involved with the brewing of the beer. Each member has their own recipe ideas which means the beer selection is going to be diverse and relatively sizeable. I got two beers here. One was a mushroom beer which I really liked a lot. However I also REALLY liked a lot a Lavender IPA that was consumed in the second round. Both beers made by different brewers, both beers wildly different in general and from each other. I am in this neighborhood or nearby about once a month so the added incentive of staying a bit longer there by going to this brewery will involve no painful arm twisting at all! read more

This place is really great - I'm always surprised when there that they are not busier. More people should give them their business! They always have about 15 taps (one is cider) so there is something for everyone. The folks working there are friendly and helpful. You can order food from the cafe next door or bring in your own. Dog friendly and a little game selection for the kids, should you have them and bring them. Sounds like they are pretty good community partners too - I know we have been to a few fundraising events there. Great PNW beer both in taste and mission. Washington state's first Co-Op Brewery is a great addition to Seattle's beer scene! Love each new beer I have tried here, especially the Lavender IPA and the Bike Rye'd Saison! They even did a recent collaboration beer, Brewmance, with Naked City Brewery next door that was so tasty! I really enjoyed this place! The space inside is decorated very nicely, they carry off the bike theme very well. The tap handled are made from old bike handles and there are bike handles and seats on the walls that look like those mounted animal heads like you would see in a lodge. The beers here are really good. I had the blonde which was an excellent blonde beer. I also sampled the saison which had a great flavor and wasn't too hoppy. It is also dog and kid friendly. Neither was too overwhelming like I've experienced at other places. Overall, it was a great stop with good beer. I would definitely stop here again sometime. read more

Fantastic, quirky spot in greenwood for some tasty and unique brew. We had the scotch ale and winter warmer. Both were fantastic. Love the community vibe here with the eclectic art, kid playing area, and friendly, approachable staff. We definitely want to come back and try more of the brews! As a member, I really wanted to give that 5th star but the smell of the place needs some work. Maybe a better fan or a split room for the brew side like many other establishments do. As for friendliness of the staff and customers: 5 stars! The variety and fun of the products: 5 stars! The intimate one room architecture and collaborative space: 4 stars!
