We made a reservation for 8 at 1 pm. They seated us by the door and the hostess stand which isn't an issue but it was chilly, busy and we were forgotten. We came to celebrate my girls birthdays and while the server was kind, she was busy. No water refills, had to ask for the right number of plates for biscuits, bacon was dropped on the floor--which they replaced. I'm sure the staff was wiped after the big WIN last night but the way others talked about it my expectation was higher. I will say we did enjoy the food but my truffle fries forgot the truffle. We came here for a late brunch after getting off the airport. They do have a Yelp waitlist, which made things easier since we didn't have a reservation. Most of the staff seemed college-age, and while friendly, the service wasn't very attentive. I ordered the chai latte, but it was overly sweet and too creamy--I couldn't finish it. For food, I had the steak and eggs. The steak was cooked to my liking and, while not the best cut, it was flavorful and tender. Great scrambled eggs. The grits, on the other hand, were too creamy for my taste. As for the "moon dusted" potatoes, they were underwhelming--just lightly salted with nothing really special about them. Went back again this afternoon for a later brunch and they were fully jam packed but we barely waited 5 mins for a table, our waiter was so kind and helpful and checked in on us many times, and our food came out quickly. Also I tried something new and got the Freebird Benedict and it was amazing. Perfect biscuit, super crispy chicken, and the sausage gravy hits every time. The food is good and freshly cooked. The wait staff and greeter/seater have always been very nice and deserve an excellent rating. The ambience, in my opinion, is only fair as it is dark unless you are fortunate enough to sit at one of the first booths or tables. Although there is a dark yellow there is a lot of black and a very industrial feel. The table cloths are colorful but plastic that is impermeable and hard. Unless you are fortunate to get a booth, the seats are so hard that my bottom and lower and upper back hurt for hours after we have left. (I have considered carrying my own cushion in with me). As soon as you walk in, you greeted with a smile! We have come here about four times now and have not been disappointed, not even once. The flavor is really good! I've had the pancake tacos. We've also had the steak and eggs. The grits are amazing. The only thing that I think is just average is their potatoes I would add more seasoning to the potato along with maybe some green peppers or red peppers and onions would make those potatoes pop! Busy location, but they have a waitlist you can join through Yelp to cut down on your wait time. I did this and had maybe a 3 minute wait when I arrived at the restaurant. We did ask to sit outside since we'd have to wait longer waiting for a table inside. Full transparency...the inside is small and LOUD. They have a decent amount of tables, but everything is so close together and the noise echoes. Just a heads up if you do eat outside... The outside tables under the roof are not the greatest. They had bars near where your legs go, so it was very easy to keep knocking into the table with your leg and spill drinks. Now on to the food... The biscuits are always A+. You can't go wrong with them. I ordered one of their specials for July - Firework Fruit Pancake. I'm a huge pancake fan, but the raspberry sauce kind of knocked my rating down of it. I thought I learned my lesson for my last visit to the flying biscuit a few months ago. I put a post up and only gave a decent star review because they resolved the issue I had. The service was horrific. They completely missed my meal while the other seven people in my party ate So I took a friend there today for breakfast while we were in the neighborhood and the waitress was actually very nice and very helpful. Same with the hostess. The ambience is nice and it wasn't nearly as packed as the last time I went and had a horrific experience But I have to say, the food was very disappointing. The scrambled eggs we both had were very dry and I tried the chicken sage sausage, which sounded so delicious. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into it. Sadly, the sausage was so overcooked half of them were hard as a rock And had to really chew my way through them and I did not appreciate that. I'm pretty confident now. I don't usually do bad reviews but when I don't finish the food, someone needs to know why. The place is clean, the service is good, our waitress was super nice! The food, BLAND! No flavor what so ever. The only thing that was good were the biscuits & the apple butter. The food sounds good on the menu, it even looks good when they bring it out, but as far as taste goes... salt & pepper can't save it. Not even the hot sauce. The waffle wasn't sweet, had no type of flavor. The "hot" chicken, was not spicy but also bland. The gravy over the waffle and the chicken would've been good if they used salt when cooking it. Eggs were just eggs... the place wasn't full and I see why. This was the second time I've been to a flying biscuit. I will not be back, at least to this location. And by the taste of the food and the items on the menu I will be back. It's one of the healthier breakfast options with chicken sausage and no-nitrate bacon. The prices are reasonable too. Came in around 1pm on a Sunday and we were seated immediately! The inside was smaller than I expected, but I loved the colorful walls and tables. We got some free biscuits with berry compote before the rest of our dishes came out, and I must say these biscuits were so fluffy and delicious! They came out warm, and I loved that there was a bit of sugar on the top to give it a sweeter outside. Our food came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the hot chicken and waffles -- I love a good chicken tender, and I found the spice level to be perfect. The waffle was a bit soggy, but that's probably hard to avoid with this dish. The breakfast tacos looked pretty unassuming, but they were flavorful despite not having a lot of toppings on them. Our side of potatoes were pretty plain though, and the grits didn't stand out to me :/ The stuffed French toast was creative and tasty, and I liked that it wasn't overly sweet. Our waitress (shoutout Britney!), who was kind and attentive to our table, also brought us a free pancake to try since the kitchen was experimenting with batter. The grits are indeed creamy--buttery in consistency--while the biscuits come to your table warm with a small serving of apple butter. If you want butter or jam, you'll need to request it. Biscuits are lightly dusted with sugar. Our server was fast, efficient, and friendly, which was great on a day when rain was bucketing down. The bacon was crispy and just the right texture. Also ordered the flying biscuit breakfast. I'm normally not a fan of grits, but the grits here are very creamy and almost resembled mashed potatoes (which I like). The jam that came with it tasted like an apple pie and was just the right amount of sweet when paired with the biscuit. Service was helpful and food came out in a timely manner. This was our first time at this location of flying biscuit and we went mainly because I had a gift card from winning a radio station contest. We went semi-early on a Sunday and it was already pretty full, and then the waits got longer after that. Most of the staff seem to be college-age and are energetic and active. We sat inside and don't know if there was a problem with the AC or not because it was a little warm. We enjoyed the complimentary biscuits, and I had the chorizo hash while my wife had the smoked salmon omelet. Our minor complaint was that there could have been more salmon in her dish.
