Hot honey butter chicken and waffle
    Rachel C.

Nice outdoor seating. Our waitress was attentive and friendly in spite of the busy time. I got the hot honey butter chicken and waffles and was not a fan... it tasted like an acidic buffalo sauce when I expected more of a hot honey that blended better with the waffle... My husband got the Wake Up burger was a solid 4 for both of us. Juicy, loaded and delicious. One nice perk is that they gave us a free biscuit and apple butter that was good!

Went back again this afternoon for a later brunch and they were fully jam packed but we barely waited 5 mins for a table, our waiter was so kind and helpful and checked in on us many times, and our food came out quickly. Also I tried something new and got the Freebird Benedict and it was amazing. Perfect biscuit, super crispy chicken, and the sausage gravy hits every time. My friends got stuffed French toast and pancakes and said they were amazing. Already left a review once but wanted to come back again just to hype up the quality and service because it was truly stellar today.

I'm never disappointed with the food at this place. Although I always visit their Brier Creek location, this location has gained a new customer! I went on a Tuesday so there were no long wait times to be seated. Our waitress was very attentive which is a plus. The inside was chill as always. It does seem a bit smaller than the Brier Creek location, but it's not a deal breaker. Things to mention: They have a great smoothie selection & kids eat free with the purchase of an adult entree.

As soon as you walk in, you greeted with a smile! We have come here about four times now and have not been disappointed, not even once. The flavor is really good! I've had the pancake tacos. We've also had the steak and eggs. The grits are amazing. The only thing that I think is just average is their potatoes I would add more seasoning to the potato along with maybe some green peppers or red peppers and onions would make those potatoes pop! We look forward to going back just to try the different things on the menu would totally recommend the flying biscuit

Busy location, but they have a waitlist you can join through Yelp to cut down on your wait time. I did this and had maybe a 3 minute wait when I arrived at the restaurant. We did ask to sit outside since we'd have to wait longer waiting for a table inside. Full transparency...the inside is small and LOUD. They have a decent amount of tables, but everything is so close together and the noise echoes. Just a heads up if you do eat outside... The outside tables under the roof are not the greatest. They had bars near where your legs go, so it was very easy to keep knocking into the table with your leg and spill drinks. Now on to the food... The biscuits are always A+. You can't go wrong with them. I ordered one of their specials for July - Firework Fruit Pancake. I'm a huge pancake fan, but the raspberry sauce kind of knocked my rating down of it. Service was fine. If you like biscuits, The Flying Biscuit is the perfect breakfast/brunch place for you.

Nice breakfast and fun place. Mix up with one of our orders was only big issue and what came was not that great. Everything else was fun. Need a beer and wine license to make it 5 star..

If you're looking for some good Southern cooking/ Southern breakfast, look no further than Flying Biscuit Cafe where every meal gets a fresh made from scratch biscuit with apple butter spread! Loaded grits are a specialty here. They get very busy on weekends but the tables turn around quickly. Busy and bubbling vibe throughout. This specific location is right in Chapel Hill,NC much closer to residential neighborhoods than the university #chapelhill #breakfast #southern

Get the Hangover Hash! Don't get the hot chocolate! The food was great, the drinks seemed a little pricey for the size. The restaurant was bright and colorful and our waitress was really nice.

We didn't finish our food cause it wasn't good, flavorless.

I don't usually do bad reviews but when I don't finish the food, someone needs to know why. The place is clean, the service is good, our waitress was super nice! The food, BLAND! No flavor what so ever. The only thing that was good were the biscuits & the apple butter. The food sounds good on the menu, it even looks good when they bring it out, but as far as taste goes... salt & pepper can't save it. Not even the hot sauce. The waffle wasn't sweet, had no type of flavor. The "hot" chicken, was not spicy but also bland. The gravy over the waffle and the chicken would've been good if they used salt when cooking it. Eggs were just eggs... the place wasn't full and I see why. This was the second time I've been to a flying biscuit. I will not be back, at least to this location. Maybe other locations will have more flavor to their food.

Nice little breakfast spot in the old University Mall. Clean and inviting interior with outdoor seating too. Very friendly and quick service. I came for the $5 special the had today. And by the taste of the food and the items on the menu I will be back. It's one of the healthier breakfast options with chicken sausage and no-nitrate bacon. The prices are reasonable too. I had the High Flyer breakfast which comes with a biscuit and cranberry apple butter. I got the Belgian waffle option and had my eggs scrambled. The chicken sausage was tasty but the highlight was the grits that come a cheese, possibly a white cheddar, yummy. I'll definitely be back to try more of their menu.

This place is great. We have been to other Flying Biscuits, and the only negative thing about this one is they don't serve alcohol and my boyfriend likes to have a mimosa with breakfast sometimes. Today we went to this location for the second time and it was great again. I had the breakfast tacos which were fantastic and had three dipping sauces! He had the southern scramble and really liked that as well. It wasn't super busy but everything was still faster than we expected. We will definitely be back.

    The grits were delish!

This is my second visit to Flying Bisquit Cafe. I really enjoyed the breakfast. It's simple and tasty. The eggs I ordered were over easy and cooked with enough yolk left to dip my biscuit. And the bacon was cooked well but not super crispy. The grits are the star attraction for me. They are creamy and smooth almost with a whip consistency. The staff is friendly and attentive and the place is clean and well lit.

OMG do not pass this up when in town. The ambiance is a very chill, happy vibe with indoor and outdoor seating options. They start you out with some amazing buttery biscuits and apple butter. I don't know about you but my life is happier with a good biscuit. And I cannot begin to describe how good the grits are! We also tried the Dirty Bird chicken and waffle which was so large my 17 year old son couldn't finish. Super great service and food!

The woman from the wine shop did a phenomenal job of explaining the history and significance of each wine. It was a lovely experience. The restaurant staff were so friendly and kind as well. The star of the show in my opinion were the hush puppies and the corn and wild mushroom risotto. There were sooo many different flavors that perfectly complemented each other. I was blown away. And the pig cheek on top was incredible. 500/10. Our server made great recommendations! Then-- chaos and heartbreak ensued in the form of a fire alarm. We were forced to evacuate the restaurant as the fire department arrived , leaving about half our meal on the table. After 30 or so minutes of waiting out in the cold (we were apparently the only guests who hadn't paid out yet) our server came to find us. He asked us if we wanted to just give him our credit card information and he would ring us up later, when the fire department gave them the ok, as he understood not wanting to wait around. It broke our heart to leave our leftovers, but we agreed and went to go get the car. Thankfully we are stubborn.. and optimistic to a fault. And by the third time we circled around the block, the fire truck was pulling away. I ran in and asked if there was any chance our food hadn't been thrown away yet, and it hadn't! The staff was happy we had been able to come back, and they packed everything up for us, even taking the hush puppies off the bill and sneaking in a complimentary piece of key lime pie. I'm so glad we were able to tip our server appropriately for his great service-- and rescue our leftovers. Happy ending. All was well. (And the fire ended up being something innocuous in the unit above the restaurant)

I had the BLTA sandwich with french fries and Dijonaise on the side and my spouse had the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito with home fries. We also each got different sodas from the cooler area. The total for two lunch entrées and two canned sodas was about $40. I feel like this is pretty high relatively speaking for a sandwich and fries, and a breakfast burrito and home fries + two canned sodas, which is why I gave the overall value a four. However, the breakfast burrito, home fries, and regular fries were AMAZING. Probably one of the best breakfast burritos I have had in a really long time, and the home fries were crispy and well seasoned. The sandwich I had was pretty good, but nothing super special, and definitely not worth $16. I didn't particularly care for the Dijonnais, but that's just personal preference and glad I had it on the side. The restaurant itself has ample parking and is easy to find. Unfortunately, we live between 35 and 40 minutes away, so we likely won't return, but if we find ourselves in that area of Chapel Hill, I would consider stopping in for another breakfast burrito!
