1/2 chicken with fried okra and sweet potato casserole
    Lloyd M.

Some of the best friend chicken in the south (owner is from the Mama Dips family), definitely worth the visit just for the chicken. Cooked fresh when you order it. I wasn't overwhelmed with the fried green tomatoes, not bad but the cornmeal breading wasn't particularly crisp and not enough sauce (but the portion was great). Service was very friendly.

The banana pudding waffles are AMAZING! A must have! The service was amazing. Food was served quick and accurate.

Delicious fried chicken, wonderful collard greens, and heavenly potato salad! So delicious!!

I visited Tonya's for Saturday lunch and was glad I did! I had the fried chicken with collard greens and potato salad. The fried chicken was lightly breaded and delicious. I ate every bite. The collard greens were full of flavor. The potato salad is better than my and a lot. To be honest, I dream about this potato salad between visits. And the iced tea is pretty dang awesome too. The staff there is friendly and effective. Everything was clean and bright.

    Cornbread flight! Choices!

Oh my goodness. Such great meals. Prices are decent, service is fine. Can't wait to go back and get the fried catfish.

Best Fried Chicken in Chapel Hill. Moist and tender with just the right amount of seasoning. Plus two sides!

She helped us check if we could have my nephew's plate modified and make a non-vegetarian side into a vegetarian one for my cousin. I thought that was very sweet! The ol' traditional waffle, eggs, and sausage was a perfect way to start my day, and I really liked how crispy the waffle was! The berry jam or compote was a nice addition to eat my waffle with, on top of their warm syrup. My cousin got the avocado toast, while my niece got her grilled cheese and apple juice, and my nephew got his ginormous chocolate chip pancake!!! He was super happy with the pancake, while my niece wasn't used to the crispness and grilled cheese being melted and toasted so fancily. I guess kids just prefer the Krafts sliced grilled cheese sandwich. She was pretty content with her Apple juice though! Parking was a bit difficult, but we got lucky to find two spots right in front of First Watch on a Friday afternoon!

As you can see, the serving was pretty big so I was full and couldn't even finish it. The Million Dollar Bacon was way too sweet and overwhelming for the dish. That's an upgrade that I won't get again. Service was very good. Server checked in on us every 10-15 min or so.

The ambiance is very much that of a diner. The service is different from what I'm used to, they will seat you at your table and give you menus to order. Once you're ready to order you walk up to the counter / register to order. *They Do Not except Cash I personally think the menu has too many options. I was torn between getting a Turkey Ruben sandwich or Ciabatta French Toast. I ended up ordering the French Toast. The French Toast aren't the best it's basically ciabatta bread and syrup I was disappointed... *The turkey bacon on the side was really good. I probably should have went with the Turkey Rueben instead. My wife ordered Biscuits and gravy with a blueberry pancake, Her pancake came out burnt, she sent it back and they quickly made her a new pancake. For her Biscuits and Gravy she said the gravy was great but, the biscuits could have been softer. Overall my experience was ok... not good, not bad just ok.

I got an omelette that had a lot more oil than it needed to; it was a great portion though, and I really appreciated you could get tofu as one of the fillers. The gluten free waffle was pretty "crusty and plain and uninspired" and not filling for the price. For what it's worth, I had one bite of that waffle and liked it more than he did. The folks were very kind, and food came out in good time around noon on a Sunday. Nice big parking lot with free parking.
