I've been meaning to try this place for awhile and finally got my chance as i had a medical apt…read moreclose by. I went in and ordered 2pc snapper and chips. Once my order was completed I found a seat and started to eat. The seating area is limited and if various options, a couple tables here and there and a counter by the window. The fish was crispy and nicely battered and chips were decent. Fish size was again decent i wouldn't say the largest nor small but regular in size to decent fish and chip places. Overall nice, I think strong decent fish and chip place but imo overhyped. It's not bad but nothing mind

It was messy to eat Po Boy, but that wasn't an issue. Baguette was so crunchy on the outside it was perfect! There was some arugula, kimchi and 3 pcs of oysters in it. I also ordered fries it was huge! Fries were bit salty and overcooked I tossed it out in the end. I left my water and soda to drink them later after heading to washroom. Staff cleared my water and soda away. I still had half of soda in it. I felt thirsty after eating my food in the end. It'd have been nice if she asked me first before clearing dishes. I don't think I'll go back.

We decided to come here during Cherry Blossom season. Yikes...super crowded during Cherry Blossom…read moreseason. Hard to find parking but we lucked out as someone was leaving and we managed to take their spot. Hubby made a very smart suggestion of coming here early for dinner. He knew it was going to be crowded and that we'd be in for a wait. We waited about an hour for our food...so by the time we got our food, it was around 6pm...normal time for dinner. In other words, early dinner turned out to be not so early dinner due to the one hour wait. Not sure I'd wanna dine here during Cherry Blossom season again. One hour of waiting is a bit much. We had a bday meal to redeem. They give you 4 months to redeem a bday meal here. I love that. Such a generous time frame! We ordered Cod and Chips, plus a Poutine & Krispies. I researched on Google ahead of time and found out that both the gravy and the Krispies are vegetarian friendly so I actually tried the poutine this time. Pretty good. Gravy was tasty and I quite liked the Krispies part of it. Would definitely order it again.

I always go for the cod here. It comes out tender and not dry, which is exactly what I want in fish…read moreand chips. The fries are great too, and the free refills are a nice bonus. It is definitely nicest in the summer, but I still enjoy it on a clear day even if it is a bit chilly. There is some seating on the wharf, which adds to the whole experience. Just make sure to check their hours since they operate seasonally.

We ordered a number of items and food arrived after a short wait. The fish was perfectly fried with a decent coating of batter. The house cut fries were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We shared both the cod and halibut. My husband preferred the halibut over the cod, but I found both to be enjoyable. Coleslaw was fresh. Onion rings are one of the better onions rings I have tried. It was crispy too and made with the same batter as the fish. Their signature soup was a bit on the saltier side with the bacon. I would have preferred a classic clam chowder over this. Restaurant was clean and tidy. There was a steady flow of customers coming and going. Staff were quick to clear tables for the next customers. Our server was friendly, and efficient. She stopped by regularly to refill water cups and cleared dirty plates. Overall, this meal was very good. I would make the drive to here when I am craving for some fish and chips again. Prices were reasonable for the quality and amount of food we ordered. There is ample free parking on the plaza.

The batter for the fish was light and the fish was perfectly moist and flaky. Chips were not bad as well since I don't usually like these kinds of chips that much. Would be nice if the bread roll was warm.

Moby Dick's is obviously a busy place in the summer, being right across from the waterfront -- but…read morein January, it's a sleepy area and the restaurant is active, but not too busy. We found the food unremarkable - standard fish, standard chips, standard coleslaw, standard tartar sauce. All fried food is pretty standard, pretty greasy, but not any better or worse than many fish & chips shops. So why a 3-star rating rather than 4-stars? First, there is there menu and pricing: What is called a 1-piece fish & chips comes with 2 pieces - all identified fish comes with one extra piece. It's a gimmick, and mostly just annoying. 2nd, there is a charge for everything -- Want tartar sauce? There are three sizes, three prices. Want to substitute onion rings for the fries? Can't do it, even with an up-charge, though you can order fish and you can order onion rings, each separately, each with its own price. Coleslaw? Yes, but not instead of fries. And the coleslaw is pricey - a good sized portion, but a substantial price none-the-less. The portion sizes are reasonably large, but the incessant a-la-carte with each item with a price - one feels nickled and dimed to death. The atmosphere - ok, 1950s-ish, nothing special. The staff, friendly and attentive, but young and inexperienced. And then there was the problem with the cooking -- we got 5 pieces of fish (ordered 2 and 1, which is really 2+1 and 1+1 = 5). Four of them were pretty standard. One was undercooked - cooked on the outer edges (under the fried batter), and raw and translucent on the inside. Yes, they took that off the ticket, so I didn't have to pay for it, but biting into a piece of raw fish with the outside so hot it almost burned my mouth and the inside uncooked - not so pleasant. Moby Dick's gets good ratings from many Yelpers, but in my view, it's not worth going out of your way for.
