This bird watched me eat so i gave him a fry to gtfo

I was expecting more. I ordered the halibut fish and chips - and the classic fish hut looking set up geared me up for a showdown for something spectacular. One would think that a shanty town looking shack filled with five sweaty dudes and one lady would be frying up some primo fish. The location is by Granville island- a touristy/ busy/high volume location. It is located technically on the other side of the island but nonetheless a walkable/bike able location. Seating is outside in an area suitable for the hardened fisherman wannabe or pseudo homeless person. Today it was hot as fudge and i was sweating nuts. No shade was available in the seating area so i opted for camping along a walking biking riding path. Ok lets get to the food I ordered the halibut fish and chips. Comes w fries. Coleslaw and tartar sauce. It was hot and crispy! Taste was good, but it lack volume. It was like a compressed version of what i remember halibut fish and chips to be. Akin to if fish and chips had a smash burger version. The food was good- but not the kind that id run back for. . Hence the 3/5. My fish and chips- reference would be sir cedrics in windsor ontario canada - so i guess im comparing to that as my fish grail champion. The tartar sauce was tartaring. Was good. Didnt get the runs so im happy. Basic needs were met. The fries were good. Hot and the majority were not corner pieces. The slaw looked old. Didnt try. So if you are in the area. I tried the best rated fish and chips place in this area( walking wise) And id say it does fulfill the need but. I was expecting more.

My go to for halibut fish and chips. The Alpha and Omega of perfectly fried halibut. I get to come here once every few years and I will ALWAYS make a visit here and you should, too. Glad it's still around! Cole slaw got even better. Fries (double fried) are always good!

My host on my recent trip to Vancouver said this was her favourite fish and chips place, and I can see why. So fresh, crispy, and delicious. And what a view to see while you eat! I had a one-piece cod and chips and I was stuffed. The fish had a thick batter that made me nostalgic about some fish and chips places in Edmonton in my youth. The chips were crispy and the coleslaw had a bit of a kick to it. I wish there was more seating but as far as the food goes, I will definitely make a return visit when the opportunity presents.

We stop at Go Fish whenever we are in Vancouver. This time, we ordered the albacore tuna sandwich, and halibut and chips. Our food was prepared quickly and was nicely presented. Both dishes were so tasty and the portions were large. The quality of fish was amazing! Highly recommended!

I gave them 4 stars because the Quality of the fish was so tender and delicious, I keep one star because they don't serve Beer. I'm from San Francisco and I really recommend to everyone make sure you bring a nice jacket on it so cold out there.

A summer time classic in Vancouver. It is definitely worth a try if you haven't been. Located right by the water, you're blessed with a view while enjoying your meal. The fish is super fresh and it is good quality fish n chips. The coleslaw is also surprisingly delicious. When we went, they did last call around 6:30pm. So if you're planning to go, arrive a half hour before closing time.

Great staff and always a treat- a must try if you're walking by Granville island. We've been here many times as it's a go-to for fish and chips in the area. This last experience however was a disappointment, my fish was a little over saturated, soggy- and was missing that "crunch" to the fried batter. It was a busy day so maybe they rushed it. Otherwise this place is a must for fish and chips.

We came 30 min before closing. There were not many ppl hence no line. We ordered salmon and chips, halibut and chips, and a char grilled tuna salad. The shop was closing and the chef offered us a cup of green curry soup with fish on the house. They were all so good and fresh. The staff was friendly and patient. The night views of the city skyline were amazing. We enjoyed our first visit.

My friend recommended this place and it did not disappoint. Compared to the prices on Granville Island, the fish and chips here are such a steal. The service was quick and friendly. The till had everything that you would need and more to eat anything on the menu. There's no indoor space to eat but nice to eat by the water when it's sunny out. I'm not the biggest fan of fries but they were very light and airy so I ended up finishing my whole portion. The batter on the fish is also airy and crispy. The fish was perfectly cooked. The slaw sauce is untraditional but still good. Highly recommend!

I love fish n chips so I was really excited to try this spot! It's super cute and quaint, a bit tucked away along the seawall. Service is friendly and atmosphere is chill. I loved sitting by the water and enjoying the scenic views of false creek and Granville island. My friend and I both got the 1 piece cod + chips. Very well priced ($15.75) considering the portion size. I ate my entire plate and felt full and content. I do wish it came with a bit more coleslaw, but overall a solid 9/10 meal.

Char-Grilled Wild Pacific Salmon Sandwich Oooo very delicious! There was a subtle smokey flavour that I liked about this. I liked how the salmon wasn't dry at all and the flavouring was nice too. My favourite part was kind of the bun though haha, I loved the texture and flavour of it and the way it was grilled made it even better. This also somehow didn't feel oily but I think sauce wise I might have enjoyed it if it had more sauce. I also wouldn't mind if they put some more of those pickles cucumbers on it Not relevant at all but I have no idea why I thought it was be like sashimi lmao! Anyways, the day I went their card machine broke down and it was cash only Make sure you carry cash just in case! I heard from others that there's usually a long line but maybe because it was cash only, there was no line when I went.

Very very comparable to the famous one in Las Vegas owned by the Chef Gordon Ramsay. The breading here isn't as crispy but honestly the fish here is much much much better. There is outdoor seating and plenty of parking. Service was pretty fast and you get a view of the entire boating dock and Granville island.

This was so good. It is a stand on the trail by the water. I had the fish and chips, my friend had the tacos. All the food was outstanding. I watched a guy peeling and slicing potatoes for the fries! The food was cooks as ordered, so it is not immediate but it is quick and fresh. The outside tables are nice, and surprisingly the birds did not try and steal it. I should have reviewed the menu in more detail before I ordered, there are many things on there including some good looking soup that I missed out on. This place is 3000 miles from my home but I am already thinking of going back.

I ordered an Oyster Po Boy, fries and a drink which came to total of $27.10. It was messy to eat Po Boy, but that wasn't an issue. Baguette was so crunchy on the outside it was perfect! I left my water and soda to drink them later after heading to washroom. Staff cleared my water and soda away. I still had half of soda in it. I felt thirsty after eating my food in the end. It'd have been nice if she asked me first before clearing dishes. I don't think I'll go back.

I ordered the burger and the clam chowder. The burger was excellent, but the clam chowder absolutely stole the show. It was rich, flavorful, and easily one of the best bowls I've had in a long time. The service was just as impressive as the food. I unfortunately didn't catch our server's name, but she was working the afternoon of July 3, 2026. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely honest with her recommendations, which I always appreciate. The food was so good that I actually walked over to compliment the chef, a gentleman with a beard, short hair, and glasses. He absolutely knocked it out of the park. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. The décor is clean and inviting, FIFA match was playing on the TVs, and the whole place had a relaxed, welcoming vibe that made us want to stay and enjoy our meal. I'm honestly surprised this place has a rating below 4 stars because my experience was outstanding from start to finish. For me, this was an easy 5 out of 5 stars , and I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Vancouver.
